Characters
Bob Bryar
Bob just moved to Belleville, NJ with his parents and younger sister, Jessie. He’s a little shy but is easy to make friends with. He plays the drums and is very good at it. He joins Ray’s band and makes friends with the rest of the guys, and Max. From the moment he meets her he is entranced by her. He can’t get her off his mind. He wants so badly to be with her but is afraid of rejection. In this new town, in a different state Bob has to make decisions that can make or break his junior year, or even high school in general.
Frank Iero
The short and spunky rhythm guitarist in the band. He’s a sweet and funny ball of energy but sometimes needs to watch what he says. He’s notorious for his loving personality and playful, childish demeanor. Although he’s a kid at heart he’s still very smart and logical. He knows what it takes to be a man and suck it up sometimes. He’s a great friend, and cousin to Max, but can sometimes be a ‘ruiner of moments.’ Like Gerard, he loves horror films.
Gerard Way
Gerard is the artistic singer of the band. He’s a bit of a slacker in school but makes up for it in his art work. He taught Max everything she knows about painting and takes pride in his work. He and his brother both love comic books. He’s a bit of a badass but is still very nice and sweet to his friends. He can be a little naïve sometimes but always means well. He’ll help almost anyone who asks but that doesn’t mean that everyone is his friend. He loves scary movies even though his younger counterpart can’t stand them.
Maxine 'Max' Banks
Max is an average girl living in Belleville, NJ with her mom, dad, and little brother, Andrew. She and Ray have been best friends since preschool and have been inseparable ever since. She’s gone through some tough times in her life and tried to deal by herself, though it might not have been the best way. She’s very intelligent and takes a lot of honors and advanced classes. She participates in various school clubs and sport and loves her friends, one of which is her cousin, Frank. When she meets Bob she is immediately drawn to him. Max can’t tell why but there’s something about him that she can’t get enough of. In the midst of her junior year she has to deal with school, jocks, a painful past and now, the new guy down the street.
Mikey Way
Mikey is the shy and quiet bass player of the group. He hates scary movies yet still forces himself to watch them. He’s smart and sweet though he doesn’t talk much. When he does speak though it’s normally something worthwhile. He is Gerard’s younger brother and the only freshman of the group of friends, even though he takes junior year math and is in Bob’s class.
Ray Toro
Ray is Max’s musically talented best friend. He’s known for his love of Iron Maiden and playing guitar, not to mention his unmistakably curly hair. He loves music and playing with Gerard, Frank, Mikey and Bob in the band. He’s supportive and kind. He has an older brother, Lou, who attends college and isn’t home much. He always means well but sometimes that’s just not good enough.
