The Hardest Part Is Letting Go Of Your Dreams

Chapter Seven

The next day at breakfast Frank comes and sits beside me, resting his head on my shoulder. I look down at him and he looks like he didn't sleep last night. "You ok Frank?" I ask and he shakes his head before he whispers "The voices wouldn't let me sleep. Please don't tell anyone." I freeze for a second before relaxing and I reach up and stroke his hair. "It's ok Frankie I won't tell." He smiles at me and nuzzles his face further into my shoulder.
That afternoon we go outside for some fresh air and sit under the tree we first spoke at. I sit with my back against the tree and Frank lays with his head in my lap. I gently start playing with his hair and he hums and closes his eyes. An hour passes and I let Frank sleep, just watching his peaceful face until it's time to go inside. I gently shake his shoulder and his eyes flutter before opening and he smiles up at me. "Hey" he croaks out in a sleep laced voice and I smile back before saying "It's time to go inside for dinner." Frank nods and sits up and we head inside. Halfway across the yard Frank slips his hand into mine and we look at each other and smile, walking the rest of the way to the cafeteria hand in hand. When we get there a few of the nurses shoot us strange looks but I pretend not to notice. After dinner we go back to my room and Frank lays down on the bed before noticing the sheet on the floor in the corner and asks about it. I blush more than I ever have in my life and say "I don't want to talk about it." Frank looks concerned for a moment before deciding to drop the subject. He pats the bed next to him and I walk over and lay down, Frank curling himself into my side and throwing his arm over me. I wrap my arm around him and he says "I like you Gerard." I turn my head to look at him and say "I like you too Frank." Frank shakes his head and says "No. I really like you" and my eyes widen. After a second of processing this information I say "Frank I think I've been in love with you for months, even though I didn't even know you were real." Franks face breaks out into a massive smile and he leans in and presses his lips to mine. I kiss back and tangle my fingers in his hair. We kiss for a few minutes, just a simple press of our lips together before I feel his tongue swipe my bottom lip. I open my mouth and deepen the kiss, sliding our tongues together. Frank presses closer to me and a small moan escapes his mouth into mine. We pull apart for air, staring into each other's eyes as we pant for breath before diving back in and reattaching our lips, feeling content to just kiss, not pushing it any further. A knock at the door startles us and we pull apart as an orderly opens the door and says its time for Frank to go back to his room. Frank looks at me with a sad face before pecking my lips one last time and getting up, leaving the room with the orderly.
I lay in bed and run my finger over my lips, in disbelief that that really just happened. I get up and turn the lamp off and climb into bed just staring at the roof in the dark. After twenty minutes the door opens and closes and then Frank slides into bed with me. I turn onto my side, wrapping my arm around his waist and pulling him to me, pressing my lips to his forehead. He snuggles closer into my chest and whispers "We have to be quiet. It was hard to sneak back in here without getting caught." I smile into the darkness and his hand reaches out and rests on my cheek before his lips find mine again. After we kiss for a few minutes he pulls away and whispers "Gerard will you be my boyfriend?" I tighten my hold on his waist and whisper "Of course Frankie." Frank hums and says "I like when you call me that." I lean in and kiss him one more time, just a simple peck before rolling onto my back and pulling him into my side. Frank shuffles closer and rests his head on my chest and tightens his arm around my waist. We lay in silence, enjoying each other's company as we fall asleep. Right before I drift off Frank whispers "I really like you Gerard. You make the voices be quiet."
The next morning I wake up and Frank is still curled into my chest asleep. I lay still for a few minutes not wanting to disturb him but he doesn't appear to be waking up any time soon so I gently slide out from under him and go into the bathroom to shower. Halfway through my shower the curtain is pulled back and I'm startled to see Frank standing there. My hands shoot down to cover myself and Frank just smirks at me before pulling his shirt over his head and then dropping his pants to the floor. He steps in and pulls the curtain shut behind him before reaching out and grabbing my wrist, removing my hand. "Impressive" he says before smiling at me and stepping under the water. We shower together and share a few kisses but it doesn't turn sexual and I manage to keep from getting an erection and embarrassing myself.

Thank you for this great story! I read it over the last couple of days, and was sad when it ended. I really enjoyed the relationship between Frank and Gerard, especially the beginning was thrilling!
The only thing I didn't like so much were the parts about Ruby, for they were really long and not that exciting. Anyways, thank you very much and I'll definitely reread it again some day :D!
