The Hardest Part Is Letting Go Of Your Dreams
Chapter 141
"Frankie" I say softly, trying to calm him down and his face seems to soften a little. "But we had sex...." He trails off and I swallow hard, knowing this is my fault. "I'm sorry but that doesn't fix anything. It's just a physical act." His bottom lip quivers before tears spill from his eyes and I feel like the worst human being ever. "Frankie" I whisper out again, cupping his face in my hands. "Please don't cry." Frank lets out a sob and I feel my reasoning for breaking up crumbling, my heart aching to see him upset like this. I feel my own eyes well with tears as I open my arms to him, pulling him to my chest and gently stroking his hair as he cries. "Shh, don't cry" I whisper to him and his tears slowly stop. "I love you Gee, I really do, so much." "I know" I whisper back, still holding him close. "Please don't move out" he begs and I sigh before saying "Frank we need space from one another. I can't let you keep hurting me." Frank lets out another sob and I tighten my arm around him.
Once Frank has calmed down I climb out of the bed and go into the kitchen, making coffee. After I settle at the table with my cup Ruby comes wandering in, her hair a mess from sleeping. "Hi daddy" she chirps out and I smile over at her and pull out the chair next to me. "Hey Rubes." She climbs up into the chair before saying "Can I have some pink milk daddy?" "Of course you can baby girl" I tell her and she hops off the chair and goes to the fridge, pulling it open and grabbing herself a popper of milk, bringing it back and handing it to me so I can fix the straw. Once she's back in her chair I ask "What would you like for breakfast?" "Can I make toast daddy?" She asks and I smile and nod, picking her up and carrying her over to the bench, sitting her down and letting her put the bread in the toaster and press the button down. Just as it pops up Frank comes into the room freshly showered and Ruby says "I maked breakfast daddy." Frank smiles and walks over to us, picking her up and settling her on his hip. "Wow Rubes that's so good" he tells her as I pull the toast out and ask what she wants on it. Once she's settled at the table eating I go to pour myself another cup of coffee and Frank comes over, pressing himself against my back as he leans in to whisper in my ear. "Babe Matt is gonna look after Ruby tonight, go out with me, please?" I sigh and turn around, ready to say no but the desperate look on his face and the heartache in his eyes stops me. "Ok, I'll go with you" I tell him and he smiles wide, pulling me in for a hug. The rest of the day passes weirdly. Frank and I aren't exactly affectionate but we aren't as distant as we have been. Ruby is excited to go to Matts house for a sleep over with his niece who is about the same age and she spends the afternoon bouncing around full of energy. At around 4.30 Frank tells me he's taking Ruby over and that I should get ready. Once they leave the apartment I get in the shower, wondering where Franks taking me and what I should wear. By the time he gets back I'm showered and dressed in jeans and a button up shirt, fidgeting anxiously on the couch. Frank comes in and disappears into the bedroom, coming back dressed similar to me. "You look so good babe, let's go" he tells me and I blush slightly as he takes my hand and leads me out the door.
