You Only Hear The Music When Your Heart Begins To Break

On the cab ride to the restaurant we are having dinner at I start to feel really hot and flushed. I shrug it off as it being stuffy in the cab but when we get out I don't feel any better. Once we're seated at our table Gerard looks over at me and asks if I'm ok. I smile and tell him I'm fine and the waitress comes over to take our order cutting off our conversation. While we wait for the food to come I get a sharp pain in my lower stomach which seems to just get worse and worse until I can't ignore it and I drop my hand down to clutch at my stomach. Trick immediately notices, sitting beside me and asks me what is wrong. I wave it off and tell him I need to use the ladies room before standing and making my way across the restaurant. When I get there I go into a stall and find that there are spots of blood in my panties. I feel the colour drain from my face as the room starts to spin and I have to lean against the wall to collect myself so I don't fall. I slowly make my way back out to our table and Gerard stands up when he sees the state I'm in, clutching my arm to stable me as I wobble slightly. "Baby what's going on" he asks and as I open my mouth to tell him I start to hyperventilate, in pure panic about what's happening. "I'm bleeding" I tell him and he looks confused for a second before realising what I'm saying and wraps his arm around my waist steadying me and telling me we need to get to a hospital. Trick and William follow us outside and hail us a cab and once we're in and driving to the nearest hospital Gerard strokes my hair and whispers soothing words in my ear trying to calm me down. Once we get to the hospital and Gerard tells the nurse what's happening we are taken into a room and seen by a doctor immediately as I am apparently a high risk patient. The doctor orders the nurse to start hooking me up to machines to monitor my vitals as he orders Trick, William and Gerard out of the room so he can perform an exam. I beg with him to let Gerard stay and he agrees as Gerard tells Trick and William that he will come find them and tell them what's going on as soon as we know. Once they leave the room the doctor begins a pelvic exam as he asks me what's happened. I tell him about being flushed and the pain and the bleeding. He asks how far along I am and I tell him and he sighs and says that I am still in the first trimester, meaning I am still a high risk for a miscarriage. At those words my self control breaks and I start to cry feeling my heart crumble at the thought of losing the baby. Gerard leans over me to stroke my hair and try to calm me down and the doctor tells me he wants to perform an ultrasound.
During the ultrasound he presses the wand into my stomach and the image on the screen seems to pulse slightly and the doctor smiles and tells me that that's the babies heart beat and everything seems to look ok. I sigh in relief as I release Gerard's hand from my own and when I look down at it it is very red and I apologise for squeezing it so hard. He chuckles and tells me not to worry about it before leaning over and kissing my forehead. The doctor interrupts us to tell us that the pain and bleeding seems to be caused from my uterus contracting and that I appear to be dehydrated. He tells me that they will keep me overnight for observation and put me on a drip to help with the dehydration and that I should be perfectly fine. After he leaves the room Gerard goes out to the waiting room and comes back with Trick and William who pull up chairs at the side of my bed and ask how I'm feeling. We make small talk for a little while I slide over and Gerard climbs into the bed with me, holding me close until I fall asleep.

When I wake up Trick and William are gone and Gerard is asleep in a chair beside my bed. I don't want to wake him so when a nurse comes into the room I put my finger to my lips to signal for her to keep quiet and she comes to the other side of my bed to tell me that I am being released and removes the drip from my hand. I thank her and get off the bed to change back into my clothes when Gerard stirs and sits up straight. "Hey baby we can go home now" I tell him and he stands pulling me into his arms. "Ok baby lets get going. Trick and William are already there" he tells me and we leave the hospital hand in hand.

After a few days of doctor ordered rest Trick and William go home and I go back to work. All the guys notice my bump and most of then congratulate me but as I walk through the dining room Zack just glares at me and makes a comment about me getting fat. I shrug it off and keep walking when he decides to keep going, trash talking me to another waitress. "She's such a slut" I hear him say and that's the last straw. I turn around and slap him across the face before yelling at him "You low life piece of shit. Yeah we may have slept together once and believe me that was a severe lack in my judgement. I am engaged and pregnant and you can't respect that at all, you just turned into a fucking psycho trying to force yourself on me and break up my relationship. Then you fucking punched me in the face. And still I had the good graces to not go around telling everyone about your pathetic pin dick but I'm done. Fuck you Zack" and storm out of the restaurant to get some fresh air.
After my shift is over Gerard meets me out the front and on the walk home I rant to him about the fight I had with Zack. He wraps his arm around me and tells me to calm down and that all the stress is not good for the baby. When we get home Gerard tucks me into bed and strokes my hair until I fall asleep.
