A New Way is on the Way

“T-t-twins? Isn’t that rare in Fertiles?” I felt a little light headed as the doctor took one more thing out.

“1 in every 300 will have twins, I had twins. I took the placenta out so you won’t have to worry about that. Now you will feel a slight tug as I stitch you up” I felt the needle entering and reentering as I was being sewed up. Then a slight sting that hurt like a bitch.

“Oh yeah the glue hurts I forgot about that one.” Dr. Toro smiled kindly as my gown was pulled down and the sheet was taken down. A bit of blood could be seen on my gown but not much. A new gown would be given to me when I got into the room but a nurse came back with a baby in a blue blanket.

“He’s four pounds fifteen ounces, he almost didn’t make it but she got him out in time” She smiled at me as the bed was moved and I was propped up and I was holding my little boy.

Slowly I was wheeled out and I saw Frank sitting with Mae in his arms.”Frank I’m alright” I told him and he looked up and his eyes were red then he saw the blue bundle in my arms and his eyes widened.

As the nameless baby boy in my arms as we slowly made our way to the labor and birthing room so they could set up a hospital room. When we reached the room Frank’s parents were there, I almost jumped out of the bed and hugged them right there and then. But I was feeling being cut open by a dull knife.

Gerard looked up and smiled at me. I smiled back and I was pushed into the room and one of those things that go on your finger and takes your heartbeat. Two clear bassinets were placed in the room and Frank walked in with Mae.

“Two little rug rats huh? Well Mikey I always knew you were a sneaky mate but this is amazing Mikes. Now you have six people outside of that door and all of them saw this little guy so what do you want to name him?” Frank sat down next to me and smiled at the newborn in my arms.

“Ashton Leonardo, after your Grandfather and Mine. Frank what do you think, do you think he is an Ashton?” I looked at him and his eyes fell on the sleeping boy and mine on the sleeping girl.
“I love it, but Mae needs a middle name and I was thinking of names and I thought that Mae Aurora was pretty. What do you think?” Frank looked at me and I smiled.

“That is a beautiful name for a beautiful girl” I looked down at her and then the little boy in my arms and for once I cried, tears of joy but I cried softly as the tears ran down my face.

“Mikey if you don’t like it you don’t have to lie about it” Frank looked at me in a way that I knew I had hurt him.

“No it’s just I’m so happy” I sobbed as I tried to stop crying. “The hormones are still in my system and will be for about a week a-“

The door opened and Dr. Toro walked in he was holding a cup of blood. Frank smiled and I knew that he had given some blood for me to drink. Frank’s blood would help me heal slightly faster. Even though my blood production was up with both babies I would need to feed a bit more then I use to for about a year.

“The little boy is a fertile just so you know”

As I took the cup in one hand and my son was in the other as I slowly drank the blood. I always have thought that Frank’s blood was better from the vain but I will make do. Frank smiled as I finished of the slightly cooled blood and I set the glass by the bedside table.

“You know when you drink blood your lips turn bright red? I think it’s very hot” Frank smiled and I groaned.

“We can’t have sex for eight weeks and trust me that means all sexual activity” I frowned as I said this and I was going to have a hard time keeping Frank at bay.

“Ugh, don’t remind me” Frank moaned and the door opened and Gerard opened the door.

“Holy shit you’re okay” Gerard looked relived, and turned and said something outside and the door opened and everyone flooded in.

“Gerard watch your mouth! I will make Frank wash your mouth out with congealed rotten blood. So you will not cuss in this room with my children, so if you know what’s good for you watch your mouth” I warned, and Gerard smiled.

“That’s the Mikey I know! So what’s the little kiddies names?” Gerard asked as he jutted his hip to the side and placed his hand on it.

“Well the little girl is Mae Aurora and the little boy -who is a fertile- I named Ashton Leonardo. Mae is only five pounds while Ashton is four pounds fifteen ounces.” I smiled at the sleeping blue bundle that stirred and opened his eyes for me to get a quick peek at the blue and green speckled eyes. In a few months they would change color.

“Ashton is taking after you I see, when you were born you were a tiny little thing. Still are but my boys have all grown up and started a family!” Mom cried as she whipped her eyes.

“Mikey you named him after our Papa? And Franks to for that matter! I’m getting all missy eyed” Gerard was fanning himself and I laughed but then cringed from the pain and pulling on the stitches.

“Well walking is going to be real fun!” I sighed and shook my head. “You two caused me a lot of pain but it was worth it”

“Well you had us all worried when you were rushed to the O.R.” Lynz smiled at me and I knew it was out of pity. Lynz was told that when and if she ever wanted children she would have to have a c-section.

“Visiting hours are over only the father of the children will be allowed to stay” Dr. Toro smiled and I knew that I would be moved to the hospital room that was set up. This was a new chapter in my life. The chapter called My Family was unfolding in front of my eyes.
