A New Way is on the Way

Gerard and the rest of my family left shortly after visiting hours were over, leaving Frank and I with our new babies. Frank had just stepped outside to talk on the phone with his mother who couldn’t be here for the birth of the babies, I was left holding both Mae and Ashton in my arms, both were asleep.

“Oh my god.” I whispered to myself as I looked at both of them.

“What?” Frank asked as he came over and took Mae from my arms and held her.

“How are we gonna do this?” I started freaking out, Ashton woke up. “We were only ready for one baby. We only have things for her. What about him? We can’t do this!” I started to tremble, Ashton began to cry.

“I don’t know what to do!” I started to cry as well and Ashton’s cries turned into screams.

Frank looked kinda freaked out but he put sleeping Mae in her crib then came over to me. I thought he was gonna take Ashton so I handed him out but he shook his head, making me hold him longer. I thought he was gonna choke on his tears so I started to rock him, trying to calm him down. Frank sat on the edge of my bed and just watched us. Since he wasn’t gonna take the baby from my arms I pulled him back so he was almost laying on my chest, his screams gradually turned to cries, then he fell asleep. When he fell asleep, my tears came to a stop and I looked back to Frank and he was smiling at us.

“See, you can do it.” Frank said then came closer to me and kissed my temple. “Yeah we didn’t except this one,” He gestured to the now sleeping baby in my arms, “But that doesn’t mean we can’t do this.” He smiled at me.

I nodded and stuck my chin out for Frank to come close and kiss me, he got the hint and placed a soft, yet meaningful kiss on my lips.

“But what about clothes and another crib and-” I was cut off by Frank kissing me again.

“I’ll make a few phone calls; the doctor said you or the twins won’t be able to leave for a few days anyways. I’ll have everything done before we even get home.” He smiled and took the baby from my arms and out him next to his sleeping sister.

“You’re not gonna leave us here are you?” I asked.

“Never, I’ll get someone to do it for us.” He said and slide into the hospital bed with me and pulled me close to him.

“I love you.” I told him then pecked his.

“I love you to. And thank you.”

“For what?” I asked.

“Everything, loving me, giving me not one but two children.”

“I’d do it again if I could.” I told him and kissed my husband one last time before falling asleep.
