The Long Lost Daughter

Chapter 4: After So Long

Lindsey P.O.V.

I wake up from my nap. Sixteen years without my Lady B. As I sat there, I look at the things I missed. I miss her kindergarten graduation, middle school, birthdays, everything. I'm starting to think my Bandit might of died.

I began to cry of the thought of her dead. What if Bandit was dead. I cry harder that I start to shake.

"Lindsey." Gerard said. He pull me into his arms and stroke my head.

"We're going to find her. We're going to find our daughter." Gerard cooed in my ear.

I cry into his chest. I carried her for nine months, held her once, and then she was taken from me.

"Why did the woman kidnapped our daughter," I sobbed.

"I wish I knew," Gerard said quietly.

I cried myself to sleep.

I woke up with a knock on the door. I rubbed my eyes and went to go get it. Gerard was still sleeping.

I opened the door to reveal Officer Marquez.

"Hi Officer Marquez." I said.

"Hey Lindsey," she said. "I have some news for you."

"What kind of news?" I asked.

"Is Gerard home?" Officer Marquez asked.

"Yeah. I'll wake him up. Come in," I said.

I walked into our room. Gerard was still sleeping. I shook him awake

"What," Gerard said.

"Officer Marquez is here. She wants to talk to both of us." I said.

"Is it about Bandit?" He asked.

"I think so." I said.

He rubbed his eyes and got off of bed.

"Hey Gerard," Officer Marquez said.

"Hi Officer Marquez."

"Okay. I have news about Bandit. Officer Rickey from Belleville, Kansas said they think they found Bandit." Officer Marquez said.

"Really?" We both said.

"Mmhm. Bandit's name right now is Bailey Leela Wayland. I have no idea why we didn't know this before. The woman who kidnapped her now has a family. The thing is why I'm kind of mad that we didn't notice is that Bandit -or Bailey in this case- has the name Wayland instead of Martin." Officer Marquez said.

"Our daughter is in Kansas!" I said.

"Yep. But she's the one who asked for the test to see if she was Bandit herself." Officer Marquez said.

"What do you mean?" Gerard asked.

"I mean, she doesn't think that she's Bandit. She thinks she's Bailey Leela Wayland, not Bandit Lee Way." Officer Marquez said.

"So she asked for a test?" I said.

"You got it." Marquez said.

"Are we going to see her?" Gerard and I said.

"Next week. Bandit explain how her parents didn't know about her taking the test. She said next week because she and the family are coming here to L.A. to visit an aunt. So she told us if we wanted to reunite you guys, to do it when she was alone here in L.A. She had explain to us why she wanted it next week and not now." Officer Marquez said.

"And what is that reason," Gerard asked.

"If the parents that took her found out about this, she would disappear again." Marquez said.

"She's smart." I said quietly.

Officer Marquez gave us a sad smile. "We'll make sure she comes back to you guys. Safe and sound."

Gerard wraps his arm around me since I began to cry.

"Do you have any picture of her? We want to see her," Gerard asked.

"Yea! Officer Rickey send me a picture of her." Officer Marquez said.

She pulled out a picture from a bag and handed it to us.

"Bandit told Rickey to take a picture of her and to send it to you guys," she said.

I look at the picture of our Bandit. She looks like me! She has Gerard's nose, his eyes, my smile, my look. When Officer Marquez left, I began to cry again because she wanted to sent a picture of her to us. Bandit asked Rickey to send a picture to us.

Gerard hugs me tighter as we sob for our daughter. We both longed to see her and hug her.

"W-we're going to finally have our Bandit back," Gerard said in my ear.

"I've missed her so much!" I cried.

"I've missed her, too," Gerard said.
