The Long Lost Daughter

Chapter 5: Suspicious of My 'Parents'

Bandit P.O.V.

"Get your things in the car, Bailey," dad said.

"I'm coming, dad," I called.

I grab my suitcase and leave it at the hall. I go back to my room to get my laptop, iPod, my pillow, a blanket, and my phone. I sigh as I look around my room to see if I have forgotten anything. So far nothing.

"Bailey. Come on! We have to go," mom called.

"I'm coming!" I yelled and put my iPod and phone in my bag, carried my laptop and suitcase.

Brady grabbed my suitcase and put it in the back of the car. "Are you ready," he said quietly to me. I smiled and nod.

I get in the car and closed my door. I put my pillow up in a comfortable spot and wrap myself in my blanket. I am going to sleep considering mom and dad woke me up around four AM. I'll tell you I'm not a morning person.

I sigh and put on my earphones and start playing "Can You Feel My Heart" by Bring Me The Horizon. By the time the song finishes, my iPod starts to play "The Only Hope For Me". I think it did that on purpose.

I laughed as I thought of that. Dad stops at a restaurant.

"Okay, we're going to eat first." Dad said. I sigh and turn off my music.

As I enter the building, I start to wonder if Officer Rickey has one his men following us like he had promise.

Officer Rickey had told Brady and I that his buddy, Officer Williams, will make sure we're in Los Angeles.

We all ate our food and left about an hour later. As I was getting into the car, I looked at the lot and saw someone wink at me. At first I thought he was a creep, but then I saw his wrist tattoo and I knew right away it was Officer Williams.

I gave a small smile then got in.

"Bailey! Take your headphones off," mom said. I rolled my eyes and put my earphones away. "Good."

"What do you want to do when you get to Los Angeles," dad asked.

Okay, he never asked me that when we go visit Jenna. Why the hell is he doing it now?

"I don't know. Eat. Go to a music store or a book store." I said.

"Bailey you have too many books already," mom said.

"What does that suppose to mean? Books are awesome, okay." I said. I'm such a bookworm. I have a whole wall that is now a shelves with books. I don't have anymore room, but I can always put some in my closet.

"Why is your nose always in those books?" Dad asked. Rude.

"Because I love to read. What's the problem with that?" I asked.

"Well, you barley have any friends that's a started," dad said.

"What are you trying to say, dad," I said.

"I'm saying why can't you be more popular like your brother," dad said.

"BECAUSE HE ISN'T MY DAMN BROTHER," I yelled.

"What?" Mom and dad said.

It took me a moment to realize what I said. Brady eyes were widen.

"You heard what I said," I stated.

"You're our daughter, Bailey," mom said.

"Well, it doesn't seem like it considering that I look nothing like you guys," I stated.

Brady punches me. Mom and dad don't see the punch. I look at Brady and give him a 'what the hell' look. He gives me a 'stop' look.

I knew what he's trying to say. I gave a reason why my parents should think I am suspicious about them.

"What are you trying to say?" Dad said. I can tell him and mom are tense. Suspicious.

"What I'm saying is that am I adopted?" I asked.

I can see relief in them when I said that. I know they're hiding something. I knew their secret, but I know they didn't know that I know their secret.

"No Bailey. Actually, the only reason you look different than all of us is because you're not his daughter." Mom said.

"What," I acted surprised.

"Your real dad left us when I was pregnant with you. I put your fathers last name because you are his." Mom said.

Dad didn't say anything. I was always told that dad was the first person she married...

"Oh, I guess that explains it," I muttered. God, Bailey -or Bandit- you're good at acting. I thought.

"Don't worry sweetie," mom said.

I put my earphones back on and play "Daughters of Darkness" by Halestorm. By the time I had heard four songs, I fell asleep.

"Bailey, wake up," Brady said.

"What."

"We're at Quick Trip. I woke you up so you can go to the restroom," Brady said. I can tell he wants me to go with him into the building.

We head to the building. Brady grabbed my hand and pull me where the restrooms were.

"Bailey. That was a close call. You need to be more careful." Brady said.

"I covered it with me asking them if I was adopted," I said.

"Yeah well, when you fell asleep I pretended to be asleep too. I heard Mom and Dad say that that was a close call. Bailey, they're hiding the fact that they kidnapped you." Brady whispered.

I sighed. I made them too suspicious. "I'm going to keep a close eye on them," I said.

"Your ass better. You also made them suspicious. They also said what if you knew about the whole thing. Yes, they call it 'thing'. They're hiding it, Bandit!" Brady said.

I widen my eyes. He has never called me by my suppose real name. Is he too convince that I'm Bandit?

"Are you convince that I'm Bandit," I asked.

"Hell yeah you are." Brady said.

"I guess if everyone says I'm actually Bandit Lee Way, then I guess they're right. But then why did my so call 'parents' want me in the first place?" I asked.

"I don't know. We'll find out eventually," Brady said.

I looked at the door since I was facing it. In comes my parents.

"Oh fuck! Hide!" I said and make a run to the women restroom.

I quickly get into a stall and stay there. I suddenly get an urge to go to the bathroom, so I do.

Once done doing my business, I get out of the restroom and head to the refrigerators to get a mocha Starbucks coffee.

As I turn, I hear someone call my name.

"Bailey, what took you so long?" Mom asked.

"People in the stalls," I said and put my drink on the counter.

Mom pays the drink and then I start to walk around the gas station. Brady joins in too.

"So, what happens when we're in L.A.," Brady asked.

"Well, we have to make sure I'm alone. We call Officer Marquez and then she'll pick me up to take me to Lindsey and Gerard. Also known as my biological parents." I said.

"Hey, did you give your DNA to Rickey?" Brady asked.

"Yeah. He said once we're in L.A. they'll have the results." I said.

After Officer Rickey called the police station in Los Angeles that was doing the investigation, he asked some of my DNA. He gave me a weird looking tooth brush and told me to get the saliva that was in the inside of my cheek.

Officer Rickey knew I was going to ask for a DNA test.

"Brady, Bailey, let's go!" Mom called for us.

We both sighed and went to the car. I was suspicious of them. I looked at every move they made. Their facial expressions when they talked to us and me. When they talked to both me and Brady, they're facial expressions were okay. But once they talked to me, their facial expressions looked like they're hiding something. I already knew that 'something'.

All through the ride I was suspicious of my 'parents'. I don't think I can call them 'mom' or 'dad' anymore. They're not my 'mom' or 'dad'. Lindsey and Gerard are my Mom and Dad. I'm Bandit Lee Way, not Bailey Leela Wayland. I was kidnapped, not lost. Well, yeah I kind of am lost...

Chloe and John were never my parents. They're my kidnappers and Chloe will pay big time for taking me from that nursery and my parents. John will also pay the price for joining in to the idea.
