Chapter 30: Rally the Seniors
Gerard P.O.V.
"IT'S FRIDAY!!!" Frank ran around us as we walked inside the school.
"Jamia, what did you gave your boyfriend this morning?" Venus asked.
"Captain Crunch and I regret it." Jamia said.
Some guys walked up to us. I know who they are. It's the football players.
"So, I heard from Carlile and his gang that you guys want to have all the Seniors at the football field today after school." Terence, the leader, said.
"Yeah. I hope it's okay." Irmarie muttered.
"It's cool with us. Carlile told us part of the plan." Terence said.
"And, we're here to say we are going to make sure all Seniors are there." James, Terence's brother, said.
"Aw, thank you guys," Irmarie said.
"Yeah. See you later." Terence said.
Irmarie kept looking at them as if seeing if they were earshot.
"Am I dreaming?" She asked.
"Nope." Mikey said.
"I have a problem." Irmarie said.
"What?"
"I have to talk in front to a whole bunch of people." Irmarie said.
"You can do it." I said.
"No. This is bad. This is very bad." Irmarie said.
"Okay. You can do this. Have faith in yourself." I said.
"We'll leave you two alone." Alicia said and they left us.
"I don't know Gerard. I can tell Austin to just say it for me." Irmarie said.
"No. I want you to do it." I said.
"But why me?" Irmarie complained.
"Because I want you to get over the fear of talking in front of people." I said and kissed her.
"Fine. But if I pass out it's all on you." Irmarie said.
I sat down at our table along with Irmarie at lunch time. Frank, Jamia, and Venus were already there.
"Shit, Superman called me today." Irmarie said.
"Superman?" I asked.
"When Irmarie was little she called her Dad Superman and called her Mom Superwoman." Frank said.
"Why did he called you if he knows you're in school?" Venus asked.
"Hey guys!" Mikey and Alicia said.
"Hey." We all said.
"I'm not sure." Irmarie said. "But I got a text from him. Oh wow! He only called me to say that next week is spring break, and we have to go to Doctor Gale again."
"SPRING BREAK!!!" Yelled the football players as they came into the lunch room.
"Someone is excited." Venus said.
"Too excited." Jamia said.
"Do you have your speech ready?" I asked Irmarie.
"Hell no I don't." Irmarie said.
"You're going to be fine, Irmarie." I said.
"I hope so." Irmarie said.
"Hey, remember in fifth grade when I did a speech on George Washington and I threw up and blamed it on the lunch?" Frank asked.
"Yeah." We all said.
"Well, the truth is that the only reason I threw up was because I was scared." Frank said.
"That makes me feel better." Irmarie muttered.
"It's going to be okay." I said holding her hand.
"But why do I have to do it?" Irmarie asked.
"Because it was your brilliant idea." I said.
"It isn't a brilliant idea, it's a really bad one. Remind me never to speak what's on my mind." Irmarie said.
"It's not a bad idea. And you have the right to speak your mind." I said.
"Okay. Fine." Irmarie said.
"Hey, are you going to eat your pineapple?" Venus asked me.
"Knock yourself out." I said.
The last bell rang and Irmarie and I ran out of art class. We quickly put our books away and ran to the football field. The football was a block away from the school.
"You know, I am actually looking forward to spring break." Irmarie smiled.
"Why is that?" I asked.
"Well, Star and Coco are coming back and I can stay home all day with Moon and you." Irmarie said.
"Yay! I miss Moon." I said.
"I miss him too." Irmarie said.
"Hey! Wait up!" Venus said and she and the gang came running.
"Leaving us behind huh?" Jamia said.
"Sorry. We didn't mean to." I said.
"It's fine. We have to be there before a lot of Seniors come." Mikey said and we ran to the field.
When we got there, about a third of them were there.
"Wow, that's a lot of people." Irmarie said.
"No it's not. Just a third." I said.
"Not helping." Irmarie said.
Most of the Seniors were sitting on the benches. Some of them were laying on the grass...
After a while more Seniors started to show up.
"Shit." Irmarie muttered.
"You're going to be okay." I said.
"Nope." Irmarie said popping out the P sound.
"Hey, Irmarie." Austin said and sat next to us along with Alan, Tino, Phil, and
"By the way, you better do this quick because the Mr. Dan is going to be here in twenty minutes." Alan said.
"Okay. Oh God, do I have to talk to them?" Irmarie asked.
"Well, it was your idea." Tino said.
"Well then," Irmarie said and sighed.
"You can do this. Have a little faith in yourself." I said.
"I can't." Irmarie said.
"What are you so scared of?" I asked.
"People." Irmarie said.
"Just tell them the plan. They won't judge you." I said.
"Easy for you to say." Irmarie said.
"Come on. Just ignore them, okay?" I said.
"Fine. But only because out time is limited." Irmarie said.
She got on top of the bench she was sitting on.
"By they way, cover your ears." Irmarie said.
We covered our ears and Irmarie put two fingers in her mouth and whistled really loudly. It was loud enough that all of the Seniors turned to her.
"Uh... shit I don't know how to start this..." Irmarie muttered.
"Say how we're going to do the plan." Aaron said.
"Well, we're Seniors and that means that this is our last year in high school before we all go our separate ways." Irmarie said and took a deep breath.
"So, why not give the teacher a little bit of hell since there is about two months left of school?" Irmarie said and a couple of people cheered.
"After spring break when we come back, we'll give them hell." Irmarie said and all the Seniors cheered.
"But don't hurt them." Irmarie added and the Seniors cheered.
Irmarie quickly sat down and smiled.
"Good job!" I said kissing her.
"Thanks. Thank God I can breath again." Irmarie said.
"Nice job, kid. You go Give 'em hell." Austin said.
"Thanks." Irmarie said. "How long did I take?"
"Not sure..." Aaron said and looked at the guys.
"Hey! What is going on!?" Mr. Dan said as he saw us.
"Oh shit," Phil said.
"Run!" Austin yelled at everyone.
I grabbed Irmarie's hand and we all started running to the nearest exits.
"Hey! Stop it!" Mr. Dan yelled.
Irmarie and I ran until we were three blocks away from the field. We looked at each other and began to laugh.
"Oh man. Do you think Mr. Dan heard me preaching?" Irmarie asked.
"I don't think so. I'm pretty sure he just heard us cheering." I said.
"Oh man, I am never doing that again." She said.
"You were great," I smiled.
"Thanks." She smiled and hugged me. " I have twenty bucks, there's an ice cream store down the road."
"Wanna go?" I asked.
"Yep."
"Alright. To the ice cream shop!" I said.
