If You Marry Me, Would You... (Frerard)

Chapter 7

Gerard bolted out of the restaurant, the only thing in his mind being the desperation to find him, to find Frank.

He couldn’t let the boy run away. It was too dangerous, and Gerard couldn't bear the fact Frank was scared of him.

It was still difficult for him to believe that he was so impulsive and stupid to hurt the smaller man. He hurt Frank, and he had to fix it now.

He looked around him anxiously, like a rabbit being chased. There were too many directions Frank could've ran through. Oh god, This wasn't happening.

Yet, something was poking the back of his mind, something new which he didn’t recognize, and couldn't place.

That strange mysterious feeling guided him to turn his head towards the sidewalk on his right, in the direction of the dark alley, the one that held so much trouble.

And just as he looked over to that direction, his eyes widened at the sight of Frank's scarf, the same scarf he used to hide the bite mark on his neck with, resting on the cold ground.

Gerard made an obvious gasp. He went over to the scarf, picked it up as quickly as he could and then started running along the sidewalk in hopes to catch Frank in his tracks. He couldn't be that far away, Gerard thought. The older man only left the restaurant a minute after the younger did.

So Gerard ran. He ran because he knew he had to find Frank before someone else will.

And he didn't like that possibility at all.

xoxoxoxo

He ran for longer than he could remember. In those kinds of situations he really wished he still had his wings.

But his foolish mistakes are the ones that led to him losing them, so he pushed the thought aside and just continued on searching for Frank.

The young man might have been small, but he sure was a fast runner if Gerard still hadn't caught up with him, and it was starting to worry the older man more than he wanted to worry, terrified him way more than it should have.

Although, when he reached the alley, he managed to catch a glimpse of dark hair and the familiar jacket Frank was wearing when they left the house.

Gerard ran over to him as fast as he could, and in the middle of the alley managed to get close enough and grab Frank's hand. He was very careful not to grab the damaged one. He knew it would only bring more trouble than good.

Frank gasped in surprise, and tried to free himself out of the other's grasp, but Gerard pulled him backwards so the younger practically fell to his chest.

"No! Please, let me go! No!" he called desperately.

"No. Frank, please just listen," Gerard said firmly, but there was a pleading tone to his voice.

"Let go of me!" the younger kept struggling. Gerard was stronger though, and eventually made it to pin Frank against the brick wall, holding him there by the arms as the other squirmed.

Gerard's expression softened at the sight of Frank's face under the dimmed light of the alley. It was red and puffy, and filled with terror, and Gerard wanted to just hug him, but the man kept trying to push him away and fight, as if the elder would beat him up.

"Frank, please, I'm not going to hurt you!"

"Just like you didn't hurt that man in the restaurant?!"

Ouch.

"No, Frank, you don't understand. I can't explain if you don't listen."

"And when I tried to fucking help, you cut my wrist open!"

"Look, I'm so sorry for that. But I need you to listen if we are going to sort this out."

"And why do you think I'd wanna sort anything out with you? You turned into a fucking monster back there! Now get off of me!"

"No, it's too dangerous. I can't just leave you alone."

"You can be damn sure you will!"

"Frank, get a fucking hold of yourself already! You are in far more danger than you think. Michael, remember? Michael knows you and he wants to hurt you. Michael might kill you!"

Frank stopped struggling for a moment, knowing that the other man had a point, and finally looked up at Gerard's face.

He froze at the sight.

Gerard didn't seem monstrous anymore. His eyes were bright hazel just as he recognized them, his fangs turned into regular teeth once again, his face didn’t show rage, it showed regret, and his pale skin shone under the light.

But Frank remembered what happened only a short while ago. Gerard was dangerous. Gerard pounced on the unfamiliar man, practically ready to kill him, beat him to the floor, acting like a furious beast.

Not to mention, he had gone too far to even notice Frank trying to approach him, and now his wrist was bleeding, because of Gerard.

He tried to squirm away from the man a little more, but after realizing that he had no chance to escape, just stayed still and let Gerard hold him there.

The older man noticed, and let go of Frank's arms. Frank waited a while before convincing himself to take a step closer and look up at the man's eyes.

They had a long stare, which seemed to be lasting forever, until Gerard spoke up again, quietly.

"I'm sorry for hurting you Frank," he whispered, his hands itching to hold the younger's.

It took every ounce of will power he had not to do it.

"I lost control over myself. It shouldn’t have happened," he continued. "Me and that MAN." He emphasized the "man" in a loathing tone, "We have a long history, and I let it take over me. But I promise I will never hurt you again."

"Well, good job, you already managed to break it," Frank growled. The pain was still flooding through his wrist, but the meaning behind the hit was far worse.

"I'm sorry. Please, Frank, forgive me, I never meant to wound you. I can fix this, I swear. I just don't want you hurt."

And then his arms got a mind of their own, and went to wrap around Frank, who, much to Gerard's surprise, didn’t push him away. He allowed the older to pull him closer, so their chests were pressed together and they could feel each other's heat, smell the other's skin. It was a familiar scent to both of them, from all the nights they spent lying against each other in bed, falling asleep to the lullaby of their calm breaths.

Gerard's scent always made it to calm Frank down, but he was still overwhelmed with emotion. And he looked up at Gerard, whose face were now closer than ever to Frank's, close enough so Frank could feel his soft exhales on his own lips.

"Why do you even care?" the younger glared at him.

Gerard only looked deep in the smaller man's eyes. He held him tighter by his lower back as one of his hands came up to smooth the younger's dark hair down.

He was mesmerized by how Frank's face was glowing under the weak light of that damned alley, drowned in his hazel eyes, that tears still streamed down from.

He never meant for Frank to cry, especially not because of the pain he had caused him himself.

Gerard's hand stroked the man's face, the light touch brushing Frank's cheeks and nose, and forehead, and suddenly his lips.

From there, Gerard swiftly slid his hand over Frank's hair to the back of his head. They looked at each other deep in the eyes for one last moment, one final moment before the walls broke down.

And then Gerard's lips were on Frank's.

The younger man gasped, eyes widening with surprise. He wasn't expecting this. He wasn't expecting the electricity that shot through him when the other's lips crashed onto his own, pushing desperately and passionately, not allowing him to pull away for a single moment.

And much to both of their surprise, he didn’t. After the short shock had passed, his lips decided to go by their own accord and pushed back against Gerard.

And wow, was it amazing. That kiss was better than Frank could ever imagine. It caught him off guard in every way possible, but he loved it.

He liked the older man, he got to know him in the past two weeks and he learnt so much about him. They had a connection. They got along. But this? Frank did not see this coming. His whole body was on fire, every nerve in his system was screaming with passion.

And they kissed. They kissed hard like they were choking and the other's lips were the air. Kissed like they hadn't drank in days and the other's tongue was a river. Frank was dying, and Gerard was the medicine. Gerard was falling, and Frank was the force that held him up.

The elder found himself beckoning Frank against the wall once again, but this time, the smaller man didn’t resist. He only wrapped his arms tightly around Gerard's neck, the two gasping into each other's mouths desperately.

Eventually they had to pull apart for air, their faces still close enough so they could rest their foreheads together and nuzzle their noses against each other. This was heaven, none of them wanted to let go, or find a shelter from the soft rain that started pouring over them.
Once the two had found their breath and were able to lean back into the kiss, they did.

Their mouths moved together frantically, teeth crashing, their tongues finding one another, and their bodies pressed as close as physically possible.

Gerard's hands slid down to the back of Frank's thighs, and the younger man jumped to hook them around his waist, forcing the other to press closer.

And then Gerard's lips left Frank's and trailed down to the younger's neck. He made a broken whimper when the older man sucked on the spot below his ear, the one that sent sparks up his spine, driving him out of his mind.

But as soon as it started, before any of them could actually realize what had just taken place, they pulled apart.

Gerard pressed himself onto the boy's body to make up for the lost contact. They panted against each other's skins, breathing in the smell of sweat and fire that surrounded them. They were shielded by a halo of light, the light that erupted from the passion of their moment and kept them attached.

Slowly, the elder let go of Frank's legs and allowed him to stand again by his own, still close though.

And it was silent. All that was left was the sound of wind hitting their arms and face lightly. The cold January night took over them once again, the faded reality returning, and they started to get cold. So they hugged.

"I forgive you," Frank whispered as he stroked Gerard's cheek with the back of his hand. Gerard pressed a soft kiss to his forehead, and then rested his chin atop of the younger's head.

Frank buried his face in the crook of Gerard's neck, holding onto his scent like a lifeline and clawing at his upper back.

It was as if they kept their emotions bottled up for two weeks. It didn't sound so long, but Gerard had been stressful, Frank had been confused, and somehow, they always found comfort in the other.

And now they knew how much it really meant to them.

"Let's go home," Gerard said, his hands cupping Frank's jaw, holding his head up. Frank nodded, his eyes falling to Gerard's lips and then back to his eyes, and they leaned in for another slow kiss before heading back towards Gerard's car, hand in hand, clinging to each other and trying to hide how thrilled they both actually were about what just happened.

If only they knew about the tall man at the other end of the alley, his red eyes glaring at their backs and an evil expression spread across his face. He had been waiting for this, and now it was his time to shine.
Finally. Gerard's weakness. The game is on.
