Sir Edward's School For The Supernatural

Give Em Homework, Teacher

It was a couple weeks later after the events of the last chapter, and I rolled out of bed and probably dragged all of the bed sheets behind me as I made my way to the kitchen to start breakfast. This time I decided to give Dan some slack and make breakfast for both of us, and I decided on something simple. You can’t go wrong with scrambled eggs, can you?

I opened the fridge and picked some eggs out of the carton, being careful to read the label of the carton, because apparently they have phoenix and dragon eggs which you are NOT allowed to use for meals. I nearly used some dragon eggs for breakfast that Dan was using for a class and he almost burned me to a crisp.

After checking that they were chicken eggs, I cracked them into a bowl and disposed of the eggshells and stirred them around with a fork before reaching over to turn on the stove, only to remember that the freaking stove still isn’t working.

“Ugh.” I groaned.

“Ugh what?” I heard a sort of familiar deep voice from behind me, and I whirled around to see Phil standing in the entrance to the kitchen.

“How the hell did you get in here?!” I said, and Phil shrugged.

“Someone left the door unlocked.” Phil said, gesturing over to Dan’s room, and I grunted.

“Well, since you asked, the stove’s not working and I was hoping to make breakfast but I don’t have fire power so I can’t cook anything.” I said, and Phil nodded.

“That’s not good.” Phil said.

“Obviously.” I then heard footsteps and a creaking of a door, and out appeared a very very sleepy Dan from in his room. I looked over his tired form to see that his usually straight hair was actually curly and his clothes barely hung off of him. The heat coming from his room was intense, and I looked inside to see a big fire but was then blocked by Dan leaning on the doorframe, his eyes fluttering shut.

“What is going onnnnn….” He drew out the syllables, opening his eyes again, and I could tell he was trying his best to stay awake.

“Dude, are you okay?” Phil said, and suddenly Dan’s eyes widened as he noticed Phil in the room.

“I think…” Dan said, his widened eyes falling shut again. “I stayed up most of the night and that was obviously not the greatest idea I had.” He laughed a little, and Phil looked at him with a bit of concern on his face.

“What were you working on?” He asked, and Dan shrugged.

“Some schoolwork for Creatures and also Magic, and I tried to clean up my room, so that took up a lot of my time.” Dan said, looking back into his room. “Though one bump in the road for me was the dragon bit me while I was studying it so I had to go to the medical wing.” He held up a heavily bandaged right hand, and Phil winced. “The potions they gave me for the pain made me really tired, so that didn’t help.”

“Wow that sounds like that sucked.” I said, and Dan nodded and wiped his eyes, only to curse under his breath and lay his left hand over his right eye.

“Goddammit!” Dan said, wincing as I saw droplets of blood dripping from behind his hand. “Ah shit.” Dan cursed, removing his now bloody hand, and I saw an equally bloody eye with more blood dripping out and onto the floor. It look like it had pretty deep cuts in the eyelid and in the eye itself, and it wasn’t fun to look at.

“Let me deal with it.” Phil said, walking over to Dan and placing his hand over his eye.

“What the hell are you doing?” Dan said as more of a statement, but Phil ignored his as his wings started to glow, filling the whole room with a bright white light that was very comforting and warm. I saw Dan go limp and his undamaged eye flutter shut, and Phil smiled softly.

Then the light started to dim, and his wings returned to it’s usual state as Dan’s eyes opened again, and I saw his cheeks start to redden as Phil stepped away from him, his blue eyes still on Dan.

Dan’s hand slowly snaked up his body and felt around his eye, and I widened mine as I saw, it was completely healed. Dan seemed to notice this too as his widened as he brought his hand down so he could see it, and guess what? There was no blood and the cuts had disappeared.

“You can heal stuff?” I asked, as Dan seemed to be lost for words, and Phil nodded, not looking at me.

“Most things. But dragon bites, that’s one of the only things I can’t help with.” Phil said, gesturing down to Dan’s bandaged hand.

“Uh… thanks.” Dan said, and Phil smirked.

“No problem…” Phil hesitated. He looked like he wanted to say something else, but he didn’t. “Yeah. No problem.” He said, and quickly hugged Dan before rushing out the door. I glanced over at Dan to see with face was almost a tomato, and I tried to stifle my laughter, and Dan stared at me with a mega death glare.

“How did he even get in here anyway?” Dan said, looking out the open door in which Phil had exited a couple moments before.

“He said someone had left the door unlocked.” I said, looking at Dan, who facepalmed.

“Fuck I knew I forgot to do something last night!” He groaned, his hand sliding down his face and elongating his features.

“Haha.” I laughed a little.

“What were you even doing out here in the first place?” Dan asked.

“I was going to make breakfast, but then I remembered the stove was broken. And I obviously don’t have fire powers so I couldn’t make breakfast. Sorry.” I said, looking at my feet.

“Nah, it’s fine. I’ll cook them, and I’ll try and set up something so you can cook.” Dan said, and I looked up at him and smiled.

“Thanks!” I exclaimed, and Dan shrugged and glanced at the clock.

“We should probably get going now, since we spent so much time talking.” Dan said, and I nodded as he started breakfast and I got changed and ready for the day.

An hour later we walked through the dorm hall before parting ways, and I changed into my wolf form and ran through the hallways towards Astronomy, carrying my tote in my mouth. A couple shrieks of terror and then laughter were heard as I rushed past various sizes of groups of students passing through the halls. I smiled a little bit, and kept running towards my destination.

I stopped outside the stairs again, and ran up them, causing some on the stairs to jump slightly. I mean, I’m not that surprised. I’m a huge black wolf with a tote in it’s mouth and bounding up the stairs with little to no noise at all, the only exceptions being it’s grunts and the occasional scratching of claws on the stone stairs. That’s gotta cause some scares.

I stopped outside the Astronomy door and changed myself back into a human as I walked in, and I hurried over to my seat just as Frank was sitting down next to me. Turns out he had this class too. He actually has a lot of the same classes as me, the only one that I didn’t have was 5th period Fire. I had

“Oh hello.” Frank said, plopping into the seat. “How are you this fine morning?” He asked, and I shrugged.

“I’m okay, I guess.” I said, and Frank raised his eyebrows a little.

“Still pretty shaken up about that vision, eh?” Frank said, and I shrugged.

“Um, I don’t know. But I am pretty tired right now.” I said, and Frank nodded.

“Understandable.” Frank responded, and I snorted in laughter.

Soon after the bell rang, and the rush of students running in crowded the classroom for a couple seconds until everyone sat down. Mr. Krotki appeared from out of the back of the classroom and walked up to the front, and started to speak.

“Good morning class! I hope you are all doing well.” Mr. Krotki said, and the class grunted in response.

“Well, we are going to go over a very important subject for some to day, the Moon.” Mr. Krotki said, and I sat up suddenly in my seat, and out of the corner of my eye I saw Frank looking at me weird.

“Now, before we get started, are there any werewolves in here? If you are, please stand up.” Mr. Krotki said, and I sucked in a breath and slowly stood up. I glanced around to see no other people stood up out of their seat, and everyone’s eyes were glued onto me.

“Gerard? Is it just you?” Mr. Krotki said, and I gulped and nodded. Mr. Krotki bit his lip and cleared his throat and carried on.

“You may sit down now.” I sat down, and all the eyes of the students around me returned back to Mr. Krotki.

“Well, the reason why I'm teaching this lesson today is because there is a full moon tonight.” my eyes went wide as I sucked in a sharp breath. Out of the corner of my eye I saw Frank glance over at me, his eyes full of concern and worry.

And I say, he should be worried.

Full moons for me are fucking scary for everyone who is involved. And by that I mean everyone who is friends with me.

My memory goes fuzzy as my wolf instincts go apeshit. It hurts as my body contorts and twists around, to make a monster out of itself. A true living, breathing, rampaging monster.

And people tell me I go after anybody, sniffing the air for the distinct aroma of humans. People tell me I have murdered people, and that sends chills up and down my spine every time I think of that fact.

I returned back to the teacher as he kept speaking.

“So, since this is probably a one day lesson, but still information you need to learn, I’m going to start with how the moon affects these beings. Also, tell me Gerard if you get offended with the terms I will use to describe werewolves.” He said, and I nodded as an okay signal, and he started the lesson.

~~~
“And in all, they are complete monsters when they turn.” Mr. Krotki finished up the lesson, looking at me warily to see if I had any reaction to using the word ‘monster’ to describe people like me. I mean, I didn’t take any offense to it, because it is how I describe myself and it is what I am. I shrugged and Mr. Krotki sighed as he looked up at the time.
“Right, it’s a couple minutes until it is time to leave, so I suggest you pack up.” Mr. Krotki said, and the hustle and bustle of students packing up their things began, and I reached for the paper I wrote down some notes on, only to feel a light tap on my shoulder. I turned around to see Frank with his finger outstretched, his face questioning.
“Hey Gee, I didn’t know you were a werewolf.” He said, and I nodded.
“Well, I am.” I said, stuffing the paper in my tote. Frank smiled, and I felt my heart flutter a bit.
“Cool.” Frank said, and I couldn’t help but smile.
“Also, Gee, do you wanna go on a walk around the school during break?” Frank asked, and then he blushed a little and looked down. “I know that sounded a little weird, but I take walks around and I thought it would be better if you- I mean, a friend came along.” Frank said, and I felt my cheeks tint. I nodded, seeing this as a chance to spend some time with Frank.
“Right. I’ll meet you over by the lake where Patrick sits.” Frank said, and I waved bye to him as he ran out the door and flew away.
I had a huge smile on my face as I packed up the rest of my things and started to head out the door as the bell rang, but I was suddenly stopped by Mr. Krotki.
“Um, Gerard, I need to tell you something.” Mr. Krotki said, and I looked at him suspiciously as he lead me away from the stream of students heading out the door and over to his desk.
“Okay, so since you are a werewolf, and tonight’s the full moon, the school has asked me to tell you there is a werewolf meetup sort of thing in the courtyard where the lake is. It’s a sort of thing where they gather all the werewolves into one big space, and don’t worry, there aren’t that many here in this school, and let them do their thing. Angels will be on guard duty if anyone gets severely injured, and the dragon, the one you might have seen in the halls, will be patrolling the grounds in silence, making sure that everything is going alright. We’re doing this because we know that werewolves, if they are let out and can roam free, can be extremely dangerous and deadly to the student body and the faculty, so we ask you to please come.” Mr. Krotki said, slightly out of breath.
This seemed like a pretty good idea, I mean, I wouldn’t hurt anybody…
“Sure, I’ll come.” I said, and Mr. Krotki sighed in relief.
“It’s at 7:00 PM sharp, again, at the lake, and I have seen you speak with the person who practically lives there, and yes, he has been relocated for the night. I believe, in your brother’s dorm, there is an extra room, so he is roomed with your brother Mikey and I think his roommate Pete.” Mr. Krotki said, and I nodded.
“I’ll be there.” I said.
“Right, class dismissed.” He said, waving his hand in a gesture for me to go to break, and I did.
I changed into a wolf and grabbed my tote, running through the halls towards the lake were Frank would meet me. I pursed my lips as I glanced over at the courtyard to see Frank with his wings outstretched and laying on the ground, obviously sunning himself.
I smiled as I headed through the entrance to the courtyard, and to Frank. My feet pounded against the grass, and Frank got closer and closer until I stopped right behind him.
I changed back into a human as stood over Frank and just looked at his face while he had his eyes closed. I reached down and lightly booped his nose with my finger and giggled. Frank snorted and swatted my hand away playfully, before opening his eyes and looking straight into mine. Even though I have known him for several weeks, his hazel eyes never fail to dazzle me everytime I see them. And something inside me feels that I have known Frank for years instead of weeks. I guess we click.
“Hey Gee.” Frank said, and I smiled.
“Hey Frankie.” I said back, trying out a new nickname I had thought of, and it caused Frank to smile as well.
“Well are you ready Frankie?” I said, and Frank raised an eyebrow before sitting up and tucking his wings under his shirt. I sat down next to him and we just sat there for a while, enjoying each other’s presence.
“Wait what about that walk?” I asked, and Frank shrugged.
“I like this better.” Frank said, and we fell silent once again.
Gradually, my head drifted down to his shoulder, where it landed gently. I heard Frank sigh contentedly, and I felt his head land softly on mine, and the silence continued.
But over by them, across the lake, two others were doing almost the same, except exchanging conversation, one in their own way.
Pete's POV
As I lay my head on Patrick’s shoulder, I could feel his breathing and a faint heartbeat, and that a calmed me significantly.
But one question lingered around in my head, and I could not quite answer it on my own, so I needed to ask Patrick.
“Hey Patty?” I said, and Patrick quickly got out his notebook and wrote down-
‘yes?’
“Um, sorry if this is a bit invasive, but you know a couple weeks ago, when Gerard came over to talk to us?” I asked, and Patrick tapped his pencil on the ‘yes?’
“Uh, why did you get sad?” I asked, and I braced myself for Patrick’s reaction.
Patrick sighed as he took his notebook back and started writing in it. It was a while before he was done, but when he was it filled up an entire page.
‘Well, it’s because Gerard has and will have things that were violently ripped away from me or I could never have.
  1. Friends. Yes, I do have you, and I am very grateful for that day you decided to sit by me, but… I've wanted to make more friends, but, obviously I can't do that since I am the school freak.
  2. I’m not going to lie, but he is pretty hot. And I'm also not going to lie when I say this. I'm not. He already has some girl’s eyes.
  3. I don't have a room. I don't have a place to stay other than this lake. And it gets freezing out here some times, and I'm still not allowed one.
  4. This is a very sensitive topic for me, but he has a voice. He can communicate to many people, I can't. He is actually something, I'm not.
  5. He’ll try and make friends, and he’ll succeed. I can tell. I tried to make some friends when I first got here, and when they asked me what I was, I couldn't tell them, and I got quickly ditched.
Gerard is just a living reminder of what I will never have.’
As I read through the page, I gulped and looked over at Patrick and saw his eyes were glistening with tears. I sighed and put the notebook down.
“Patrick.” I said, and he looked up at me. “First of all, you don’t need a lot of friends to be happy. Happiness depends on the person. You can have one friend who is just your whole world, or you can have a group of friends who just can pick you up even if you are at rock bottom. That may not make very much sense, but in short you just have to find someone or something that makes you happy. I can tell this is about happiness because you are my friend.”
“And secondly, your room is out here! The dorm rooms aren't this great. Yeah they’ve got heating, but I would love to live out here.. especially with you.” I whispered the last part to myself, but I saw Patrick smile a bit.
“And third, just because you don't think you are pretty doesn't mean you aren’t.” I said, and I slowly raked my eyes down his body. “I mean, in my eyes, you are pretty damn sexy.” I said, biting my lip, and Patrick went bright red. I winked at him, causing his cheeks to turn into tomatoes.
“And finally, to look for the positive in this I’m going to need some answers.” I said, and I saw Patrick stiffen.
“What happened Patrick? What made you mute?” I said, and I saw tears that were threatening to spill in Patrick’s frail and weak eyes.
He grabbed the notebook and wrote down something, proceeding to show it to me.
‘Alright. I’ll tell you.’
Patrick’s POV
While I’m telling my tale in words here, I’m also writing down everything in my notebook.
‘I don’t remember some of my early days, because apparently I was taken in for testing. I still have no idea why, but here’s all I remember.
It all started when I was a young boy. I was surrounded by my family, who were people who had powers, powers over fire, earth, water, plants, air, and some of them were supernatural beings such as werewolves and vampires.
But whenever I tried to do something like that, I failed, and everyone laughed at me. I can still hear their laughter echoing inside my mind. Jeering and mean, it was horrible.
Then I got sent to my first supernatural school, as I guess my parents were trying to get something out of me. Trying to not make me the family disappointment. But, even though I tried so hard, I tried to be like the others around me, I got shoved away from all the other groups, and they called me names and other verbal things.
Then came the beatings.
As I was going into middle school, those very same kids started to take a violent turn, as the verbal abuse grew into physical as they found out I was also bisexual. It was horrible, having countless punches and kicks thrown at me while others looked and egged those bullies on.
I was called a ‘faggot’ and a ‘loser’ and a ‘fucktard’ and others along those lines, and my body was left a bloody and bruised mess of a former person, and my emotional state was no better.
And it didn’t help, through that time of my life, that I didn’t have any way of defending myself. I was completely powerless.
Soon I was speaking fewer and fewer words, as it felt like my voice was going nowhere, and the bullies noticed and decided to bully me also for that reason. They once dragged me out behind the school and almost raped me, but I got away just in time.
That was the last time I ever spoke.
When middle school ended, it was a few years until I was transferred over to here, where it was almost paradise. I thought I could finally escape from the Hell that was my middle school. From all the looks and the abuse, but no. I now faced something that no matter how much I tried, I could not get away from. Loneliness.
As I tried and failed to make friends, my loneliness was starting to eat me whole. Until one day, when I was eating my lunch all by myself, a certain black haired someone jumped into my life as he sat next to me. He introduced himself as ‘Pete’ and I grew hopeful that I could finally make a friend.
But doubts still hid in my mind.
He’s never going to be your friend.
Once he finds out your bi and mute, he’ll leave you.
He’s just like them.
Terrible, vicious voices echoed in my mind, but were soon pushed away as the next day you came back. I now had a notebook so I could communicate, and we quickly became friends. It was a fucking fantastic feeling to not be lonely anymore, but to chat and smile with someone else.
You probably already know this, Pete, but I love you in the most best friendish way possible.’
As Pete read through the notebook, I saw his face make several emotions. From rage, to sadness, to utter disbelief. He finally put the notebook down on the grass, and looked over at me.
Suddenly he lunged at me, wrapping his arms around me in hug as we both fell to the ground. Pete was on top of me, squeezing me tight.
“I love you too man.” He said, burying his head into my shoulder. And finally, those tears that have, for years, been threatening to spill, finally fell from my eyes in the form of not sadness, but happiness.
