He's Not Dead, He Only Looks that Way.

“I want to be a demon now.”

The sun’s rays had landed upon the land where Gerard stood. His heart was pouring out in sadness but he came to the quick realization that Pete’s plan was perfect. It was the perfect plan but also, the most tragic. He couldn’t move and his eyes were staring down to his dirty converse. Pete’s voice asked softly, “Are you willing to?”

Gerard looked up and nodded, “I’ll do whatever it takes. Including that.”

After Pete and his brothers left, Gerard made his way back into the house. He walked in through the door while slouching. His head was fucked up, and his mind was going insane to the overview of the plan. Gerard heard deep panting and looked up to Lindsey’s watery eyes. She practically yelled, “You’re not going to do anything!” A tear fell as she angrily added in, “I heard what the plan was-and it’s stupid. You don’t need to go out there and-”

“Lindsey,” Gerard softly cut her off, “Don’t be angry. Please.” He begged.

Lindsey paused and despite how upset she was, she reeled Gerard in for a hug. She buried her face into his shoulder and muffled, “You’re an idiot but you’re also so brave.”

Patrick frowned at Gerard who made eye contact with him. Gerard moved away from Lindsey and said to Patrick, “You’re a good guy. Remember that.”

Patrick didn’t know what Lindsey heard, but Gerard acted as if these words would be his last to Patrick. Patrick nodded, “Thank you, and I will.”

Davy and Frey appeared in front of Gerard and attacked him with a group hug. Davy murmured, “This sucks.” And Frey added in, “It really does.” After Gerard realized it was two of his friends, he tried his best not to cry. He hugged both of them tightly and embraced their touch.

The wind outside increased as the three out of four devils appeared in front of the house again. Pete called, “Gerard, it’s time. We should go.” Gerard didn’t want to go, but he knew he had to. For Frank and for himself. He walked away from the group but stopped underneath the door frame. He looked back to his friends and smiled. That’s all he did. He just smiled. Lindsey could feel her heart flutter by Gerard’s smile and she savored it.

Frank felt Brendon’s hands grasp onto both of his shoulders. Brendon rested his chin on Frank’s head and grinned, “Tomorrow. How do you feel?”

“Like shit. I’m about to die.”

“Oh come on, Frank.” Brendon moved away from Frank and smiled, “It’ll all be over soon. Today and tomorrow afternoon is going to pass by so quickly that your death will feel like it already happened.” He couldn’t hold in his excitement as he squealed, “You have no idea how long I’ve been wanting this.” Brendon felt his body levitate from the grass. His demonic powers manipulated the gravity around him, sending him up a couple feet from the ground, “Don’t worry, Frank. I’ll be sure to give you credit when I'm sitting on my new throne.” Brendon took in a deep breath with a huge smile on his face, “Do you smell that, Frank?” He added in, “I smell my brothers. They’re planning something .. but I can’t seem to figure it out.” He faced Frank who slumped onto the grass, “But don’t fret, our plan is still flourishing.”

The day had gone by quickly just as Brendon said. Morning quickly turned into night as Gerard and the devils discussed the plan once again. Morning quickly turned into night as Brendon took off with Frank to a deserted area. As the next day came, it also turned into night quickly. The moon was shaping into a great form of a sphere and the color had turned into an intense orange.

Brendon set Frank down in the middle of a large pentagon drawn from angel blood. Brendon found Frank’s low energy and low attempt to escape very amusing. Frank drooped inside the circle, thinking about Gerard and his friends. He was in deep and depressing state which made his body and mind weak. Brendon looked up to the moon and hovered over the pentagon to look down to the poor soul. He smirked before chanting, “Under the flamed moon, and over the sacrifice, I make a deal with a ritual.” He repeated the line three times and after the fourth, the pentagon in which Frank sat in, glowed white. Frank looked around as the blinding light let out a screech which made him cringe. Frank fell to his side in tortuous pain. The palm of his hands slammed over his ears, trying to block out the noise.

Brendon smiled down to the scene before looking up to the moon once again, “Power for me, and blood for you.” Before he could repeat the line again, a very familiar and excruciating voice interrupted Brendon, “Wait,” It said.

Brendon removed his sunglasses to find his suspended demon below. Gerard looked up at him, making eye contact with Brendon who scowled. Brendon floated down, “What do you want?” He angrily asked.

“I .. I’m sorry.” Gerard added in, “I shouldn’t have gotten so deeply involved with Frank. Your brothers came to me and wanted to devise a plan to destroy you but I can’t. I’ve known you for too long and I refuse to betray you.”

Brendon’s frown formed into a smile, “Oh really?” He circled around Gerard, “If you honestly feel that way, go ahead and do me a favor first.”

Gerard nodded, “Anything.”

Brendon grinned, “You see that poor soul in the middle of the pentagon? How about you go and tell Frankie that you never loved him?”

Gerard paused and looked up to Brendon, “Is it necessary?”

“If you do, you’ll once again be by my side as what you truly are. A demon.”

Gerard looked down before making his way closer to the outside of the pentagon which still glowed white. He called to Frank, whose eyes jolted open to the sound of Gerard's voice. He quickly stood up and made eye contact with Gerard, instantly blocking out the screeching. He smiled widely, “Gerard!” He took a step outside of the middle of the star, only to be shocked in the leg. He jumped back in the middle and called back to Gerard, “Help me, I’m trapped!”

Gerard tightened his jaw, “I never loved you.” He felt his heart cower.

Frank frowned but shook his head, “What did you say? Gerard, just help-”

“I never loved you, you fucking idiot!” Gerard shouted, making Frank collapse to the ground. Frank didn’t look back up. His body reinforced, “You .. don’t mean that,” He muttered softly but Gerard didn’t hear.

Brendon clapped his hands together, “What a show! Alright, Gerard, my good friend-let me just finish the ritual and you can be yourself again-”

“I want to be a demon now.”

Brendon frowned, “No.” Brendon inspected Gerard before floating higher up. Gerard’s hand formed into a fist but he couldn’t say anything more. He didn’t know what to do now. There was a loud sonic boom coming from up above, making Brendon curse under his breath. A blinding light made Brendon continue his line of, “Power for me, and blood for you.

Brendon said aloud, “You can’t stop me.”

Gerard turned to just in time for the light to dissolve and show Mikey and Ray. Mikey shouted out, “Brendon, you fool! If you do this, you’ll cause another war and I refuse to let that happen!”

“You came a little too late-but that’s no surprise when it comes to you petty angels,” Brendon grinned.

Gerard saw his moment and took it, “Brendon! Turn me! I can fight them off!”

Mikey shot a look at Gerard, “Fuck you.”

Brendon, in a moment of deep desperation to finish the ritual, snapped his fingers which sent Gerard weak on his legs. Gerard stumbled before feeling his blood boil and his strength increase. He tried to calm himself down, but before he could do that, MIkey attacked him to the ground. Mikey held Gerard’s wrists down and yelled in his face, “I thought you changed!”

Gerard angrily slid his wrist out of Mikey’s hand and punched his jaw. He climbed on top of Mikey’s body and whispered, “You idiot! I have so stop hitting me and let me-”

Bullshit.” Mikey growled before rapidly slamming his knee against Gerard’s genitals, making Gerard flinch. Mikey pushed him off before kicking Gerard who was on the ground grasping onto the front of his jeans. Mikey climbed onto him and threw punches against Gerard's face.

Brendon looked down to find Ray floating up to him. Brendon scoffed before waving his wrist, causing the ground below to shake. Ray paused in the air and looked down, finding the ground breaking apart where Gerard and Mikey were. Ray called out to Mikey before making his way down.

Brendon muttered, “Anyway, where was I? Oh, right.” He resumed his chanting as Ray watched in horror, “Gerard! Mikey! Look out!

Gerard looked to find the ground below them falling in. He latched onto Mikey’s arm before Mikey could fall in. Gerard’s free hand grasped onto a sturdy edge of the ground. He held onto Mikey’s hand, “Don’t let go. Ready?”

“Ready for what-”

The two disappeared from the wreckage before appearing on an intact ground. Gerard grasped onto Mikey’s shoulders and forced him to face him, “I’ve changed and what I’m about to do is going to prove it.” Gerard left Mikey stunned. Gerard stopped by the glowing pentagon and called out to Frank who ignored him. Brendon looked down and glared at Gerard before slamming his body into his. Gerard’s body hit against the ground and Brendon floated above him, “Keep to yourself.”

Gerard saw a figure behind Brendon and knew it was time. He glanced at Frank and frowned in depression. Gerard muttered sadly, “I’m sorry Frank,” He swiftly pulled out a dagger and threw it over his head. In slow motion, Gerard gloomed as Pete caught the dagger and cleanly cut Gerard’s head from his body. Brendon’s eyes widen before his abilities weakened. His body heavied before collapsing to the ground. His sunglasses flew off his head and landed beside him, shattering instantly.

Pete panted heavily before muttering to Gerard’s body, “Thank you for your sacrifice.”

He looked up and saw Brendon aching. Pete, Joe and Andy circled around their brother. Joe said, “The reason why we don’t make demons anymore is because they possess a majority of our abilities. And if they die, so do our powers.”

Brendon widened his eyes as he remembered what he told Frank, “they’re connected to me. If one dies, I become even weaker than I am .. "

Andy added in, “Gerard sacrificed himself so he can save Frank and end you.”

Brendon weakley asked, “But .. you wouldn’t kill your own brother, would you?”

Pete grinned, “Watch us.”

Brendon’s blood splattered onto the floor like a work of modern art. The pentagon that trapped Frank evaporated, making Frank slowly stand up. He saw Mikey, Ray, the devils who were covered in blood-but he didn’t see Gerard’s body until they all looked. His eyes traveled across the ground to Gerard. He was at a loss for words as his eyes stared at the amount of blood that surrounded the one he loved. When Frank regained his senses, he ran towards the body awkwardly before falling beside it. He gagged but slammed his hand over his mouth. His eyes watered, making his vision blurry. His shaking hand reached down before retreating quickly. Frank cried out, “No, no, no, you’re not dead.” He looked at Pete, “Please tell me you didn’t actually kill him.”

“He sacrificed himself-”

“Gerard, you idiot!” Frank cried out in agony, cutting off Pete. He screamed out hysterically, “You died for me-for me? Why? I’m not worth anything! I'm not worth your precious life.” Frank buried his face in his hands and weeped.

Mikey stared at the scene, “He .. he did change.” Mikey referred to his brother and held back his tears.

Pete looked at Frank before kneeling beside him. He placed his bloody dagger down and said, “I sympathize with you-”

Can you bring him back?” Frank's scratchy voice asked.

Pete paused and stared at Frank, “I .. I don’t think it’s possible-”

Bullshit, you’re the devil!

Pete looked down before standing up from the ground. He muttered, “I owe your .. boyfriend .. so I will look into it. But I can’t promise you anything. Do you understand?”

Frank wiped his eyes, “Y-yes.” He felt his chest empty, “I understand.”

The wind was poorly giving off any cold air. Frank was too sad to move that it took Pete to help him up from the ground. As Pete led him away, Frank looked back to Gerard's body. He bit his lower lip before looking in front of him, and never again looking back. It was the end of Gerard, Frank had concluded. It was the end for Frank's sanity and for Frank's affections. His bond for Gerard was slowly breaking apart and it scared him. Because of Gerard's death, Frank became even more depressed and broken even more than his previous life.
