Lemme try not to Brendon Urie this shit.

Alright, so it's fall of 2014. My friend, Moe, she says to me: "Yo, my sister showed me this band and I wanna show you." She pulls out my laptop and goes to YouTube, and immediately starts looking something up.

After a few silent moments, I hear a guitar riff, then very soulful voice singing: "Am I more than you bargained for yet?"

"This is Fall Out Boy," Moe said to me. She said: "They also have those sons, Centuries and Light 'Em Up."

We we proceeded to watch every Fall Out Boy music video that existed. This also started my obsession with Andy Hurley, who is soft and warm like mash potato. Like honestly, how do you not like Andy Hurley?

Anyway, a few months later, Moe is at my house again and she pulls up YouTube once more. "Liz showed me another band," she said once again. "And I want to show you."

After a few moments, I hear a heart beat start to come out of the speakers of my computer. "This is gospel, for the fallen ones," a man sings.

Panic! At The Disco.

Then, finally, in Janurary of 2015, Moe comes to my house again. We were working on choreography for American Beauty/American Psycho (I was the Psycho, because Moe is on pointe and graceful af) and we stop to take a break. Moe pulls up YouTube on my iPad and says "I found this band and the dancer in this video..." Then, Moe proceeded to make a sound much like a hippopotamus.

These lyrics changed my life. "Long ago, just like the hearse you died to get in again."

The whole video, Moe was focused on the dancers. But me?

I was focused on the young man with the dyed black hair, singing with such pain and agony shining in his hazel eyes.

I was focused on the man with the large amount of hair, playing guitar like no one I've ever heard before.

I was focused on the boy with glasses and the bass guitar, the low notes barely audible above the guitar and drums.

I was focused on the heavily tattooed guitarist, playing with such passion and vigour.

"Who is this?" I managed after the black haired man closed the door to the hearse.

"My Chemical Romance," Moe told me.

Then, she saw a video in the suggestions bar. "Oh, this is a good song," she said and tapped on the video.

This was my internal dialogue the whole three minutes and fourteen seconds.

Me: What? USO? Military, okay, I can get behind this.
Me: goDDAMN WHO ARE YOU YOU LOOK FINE AF
Me: oh we're on a boat now okay (we're on boat, motherfuckers!)
Me: oh wait shit is this Normandy?
Me: and we're back in the ballroom
Me: THE CHORUS OH GOD THE CHORUS WHY DI YOU DO THIS TO ME
Me: and now we're in a bar and some dude has Harry Potter glasses
Me: oh that's the bass player dude okay you can slay me with them cheekbones, Mister Bass Player
Me: hollup, why's it getting blurry and shit
Me: THIS FUCKING CHORUS UUUUUUGGGGHHH
Me: yeah, how about we not storm the beach that-that's a bad idea
Me: they did it. Those motherfuckers testing me.
Me: wait why's he falling to the ground
Me: ballroom again, this time featuring A Very Pretty Girl
Me: THE MOANS
Me: the dude with the hair is a medic okay fix up Cheekbones McGee and let's get on with it
Me: why's this one dude losing his shit what's going on I'm so confused
Me: HAS CHEEKBONES BEEN SHOT OH HELL NO THIS AIN'T COOL
Me:

Me: is the bitch dead?
Me: this guy's still going apeshit why tho dude's dead
Me: whAT ARE THEIR NAMES
Me: *proceeds to pause this video and look this shit up* okay, Cheekbones's name is Mikey, the singer is Gerard— Ger-ard. That's the whitest name I've ever heard in my life— Medic is Ray, Tattoos is Frank— Frank? Frank? Who names their kid Frank? What is this bitch's last name? It's all goddAMN VOWELS— and the drummer is Bob. Bob looks like a dick, fuck you Bob. Oh, and Mikey is Gerard's little bro. Alright cool.
Me: wait. The bitch is dead.
Me: TGE FEELS UUUUGGGHHH I WANT TO FLIP A TABLE THIS SHIT AIN'T COOL
Me: welp. that was emotionally traumatizing.

And that was how I was introduced to My Chemical Romance.
