Good Going Gerard... shit's gone.

I tried to pull it up just a few seconds ago, and it somehow got deleted. It's not listed in My Stories, nor does it come up when I search it.

Y'all, I don't know how this shit is happening. My computer's been fucking up, so I've been updating on mobile for the past two weeks, and now my phone is kinda fucking up and I just uuuuuggggghhhhh

Also, it should be noted that The Badlands is becoming increasingly difficult to write. Since starting the I Mean This series, it's getting harder and harder to write FxM stories. What can I say, Freard is easy to write.

I'll try to at least finish Badlands, but there's no guarantee about when I'll update or if the ending is going to be any good.

I hate when this happens, it becomes hard to write about a certain topic. Since starting writing MCR fics in January, I haven't been able to write any original stories, except for writing class.

It's easier to write fics, as everything about the characters is already set in stone— exactly what they look like, sound like, the way they talk, some weird quirks (lookn' at you, Gerard's pinkie finger). In fics, you can just say "Oh, yeah, Gerard is gay and loves Frank" and it's accepted.

That's another thing I don't like about original stories: you can't have your two main characters be non-heterosexual, or else everyone assumes that it's fanfiction.

This whole topic (fanfiction/original stories debate) is very well explained in Rainbow Rowell's 2012 book, Fangirl. The main character, Cather Avery, is a very popular fanfic writer who writes about Simon Snow, which is basically a not-subtle rip off of Harry Potter.

At one point in the story, Cather says "The whole point of fanfiction is that you get to play in someone else's universe. Rewrite the rules. Or bend them. The story doesn't have to end. You can stay in this world, this world you love, as long as you want, as long as you keep thinking of new stories."

And I think that's a pretty fucking awesome explanation of fanfiction.

I started off writing Harry Potter fanfiction when I was 10, which evolved into a Fall Out Boy/Harry Potter crossover (which is the worst piece of literature to ever exist, yet is still a better love story than Twilight [and there wasn't even a romance plot]). From FOBxHP, I went to exclusively FOB.

And then my goddamn life got ruined when I was introduced to My Chemical Romance. Suddenly, I could easily write about these four men. I'll stop every once and while and think What the fuck am I doing? I mean, these men are all in their 30s, almost 40s.

And that's when I realized that, for me at least, they'll all be forever in their 20s. For the rest of my life, I'll always associate Gerard with the scraggly black hair, or the peroxide crop, because that's how I was introduced to him. That association of a young, somewhat-unencumbered Gerard will always be there and, since he's a full decade younger for me, it's easier to write.

Yeah, okay, I need sleep.
