If you say, goodbye today

18 year old Gerard and 17 year old Frank were still dating and as in love as ever. Gerard was even eventually planning on asking Frankie to marry him, when they were much older of course. Sadly, Gerard's cancer had grown worse, they just decided not to tell him or Frank, knowing he would tell Gerard. So they only told his parents. "Boys, I have some news for you." The blonde nurse said as she barged in the room. They both mumbled in response. "Well you both have been allowed to go home for one night and visit your families since it's Christmas in a week. You won't be able to visit them on Christmas, but you'll be allowed to go in a few days. "This is great! You can meet my family!" Gerard exclaimed when he saw the sad look on Franks face when they mentioned 'family'. Frank smiled when Gerard said that. "Yeah, that sounds like fun" Frank said smiling wide at him.


A few days later, Gerard and Frank had packed for a one night stay at Gerard's house. They were both really excited that they would get to spend more time together outside of the hospital. Mrs. Way was there to pick them up at noon and when she got there they immediately ran outside and hopped into her car. They drove to the Way's house, which wasn't that far from the hospital luckily. The Way's house was a large two story grey house with lots of windows. "Well,this is my house" Gerard said gesturing to the house. "Wow it's huge!" Frank said looking at the house in awe. "Yeah" Gerard said rubbing the back of his neck. They both walked inside and Frank followed Gerard to his room. It was a large navy blue room, with superhero bedsheets. "Uh this hasn't been my room since I was 4" Gerard says embarrassed, and rubbing the back of his neck. "I think it's cute" Frank responds, kissing him lightly on the lips. "So what do you wanna do until my family gets here?" Gerard asks. Frank pins him to his wall and starts kissing him roughly. He pulls away panting heavily into Gerards mouth. "This" he says smirking. "That, I'm ok with" Gerard responds, smirking back.


"Gerard! People are here!" Mrs. Way yells from downstairs. Gerard gets up from Franks embrace wishing he could just lay here all day in Frankie's arms. "Ok mom" he says back. Him and Frank get back up and walk down the stairs hand in hand. Gerard sits down next to Frank at the large dinner table, every seat filled with one of Gerard's family members. "So everyone, this is my boyfriend Frank" Gerard introduces. They all wave at Frank and a few say warm 'hellos' to him. They all make small talk with each other, most of the family members talking to Frank. "Dinners ready!" Mrs. Way shouts from the kitchen as they all get up and receive plates which they fill up with tons of delicious food. "So how long have you been dating?" Gerard's grandma Elena, asks the two boys. "About 2 years" Gerard responds. "Two years?! And you haven't told your own grandmother about it? Shame on you" she says teasingly. They all engage in conversation for the rest of the night and then eventually when everyone is finished with their food, they open some presents. Gerard drew Frank a picture of both of them holding hands and Frank got both of them matching bracelets with the others initial on it. After opening all of the presents, everyone left one by one.


"Your family was nice" Frank said to Gerard. "Yeah" Gerard responded. "Are you ok Gee?" Frank asked concerned. "Yeah, I'm okay I just have a bad headache." He said. Clearly he wasn't ok by the way he was acting.


"It's only eleven pm...what do you wanna do?"Frank said suggestively. "Sorry Frank my headaches really bad, I think I should probably just go to bed." "Hey, Gee it's ok of you don't feel good it's okay we don't have to do anything" Gerard smiled at Frank, happy he was being so caring, even though he was all the time. Gerard fell asleep right away, which worried Frank. He was acting strange. Frank fell asleep worrying about Gerard.


"Frank! Frank!" Gerard yelled. Frank looked at the clock. It read 1 am. "Gee what's wrong?" Frank asked worriedly. "Frankie, it's bad, I'm not gonna make it" Gerard said crying through his words. Frank felt tears in his eyes. "Baby, you're gonna make it, it's going to be ok" Frank said, now sobbing. "You know that's not true, my cancer has gotten worse, I overheard the doctor telling my mom. She said I would only live for a few more days." Gerard said, now full on crying. "Oh Gee" Frank said sobbing and holding Gee close. "I want you to do something for me Frankie" Gerard said barely able to say a sentence now. "What is it Gee?" Frank asked weak from crying. "I want you to kiss me until im not breathing anymore, so I have can have one good feeling as my last feeling. Please." Gerard asked Frank, pleading. "Of course Gee" he said. Frank pressed his lips to Gee's. This time it wasn't a rough kiss, it was a kiss purely filled with love. The strongest emotion he had for Gee. They kept kissing, sometimes tasting the salt from their tears. "I love you Gee, so much. You kept me alive, you kept me sane. Thank you." Frank said. "I love you too, my Frankie you were the reason I lived for this long, the reason I was ever happy." Gerard said as his heart stopped beating. "I'll never fall in love again Gee! I promise." He could have sworn he heard an "I love you" come from Gerard's lips as he sobbed over his boyfriends now dead body. "I love you Gee, I always will." Frank said.
