The Sane Abandoned Me

Marilyn had reluctantly arranged to meet me in a park close to our houses. I arrived before her and watched as she slowly walked through the gate. Cautiously turning her head, her eyes met mine and she came over to greet me. We stood in silence, neither of us knowing what to say.

"Hey." Marilyn whispered, still staring at the floor.

"Hey." I replied. "Gerard has gone to a hospital to help him cope with some stuff."

"He definitely needs it. He pushed me against a fucking wall by my neck, Daisy!" She raised her voice as she became more irritated.

"He was just angry! And why didn't you tell me you were with Mikey? Everyone was worried sick about him!" My cheeks reddened as I became more frustrated.

"He didn't want me to tell you, or Gerard! I don't blame him seeing how Gerard reacted. We really like each other Daisy, and I know you know the feeling. I just wanted to help him; like you wanted to help Gerard." Once she had finished, we both stood in silence. "I'm sorry." She whispered, twiddling her thumbs.

"Me too."
