Gerard spent the morning trying not to make enemies and responding to social communication. As a result, he felt mentally exhausted but so far had managed not to be marked as a weirdo.
It was ironic that the moment he had lunch and searched for Mikey, he was dragged away by a short kid to a group of people who were, according to the short kid (Frank) considered the weirdos of the school.
my name's Frank and frankly, I hate that pun so dont. Thats Andy, He's vegan. Theres Andy B. over ther, he likes Batman. Thats Joe, he's Jewish, thats KellinandVic, theyre together, its disgustingly cute. Thats…' Everyone ws introduced with a random fact that seemed to be all Frank knew about most of them 'Thats Brendon, He's hyper and getting over Ryan who left the school and they broke up, Thats Spencer, He's grumpy but okay, thats Chris, he's a metalhead' That one seemed kind of obvious, because Chris had, like, painted on black eybrows and holes in his face where peircings would be of the school allowed them. 'and those are his friends Ricky and Josh and I dont really talk to the metalheads that much. Youre missing PeteandPatrick because Pete was being weird all day and needed some time out and that means Patricks on Wentzkeeper duty. Theyre not actuallt a couple, it just looks that way because Pete has zero boundaries when it comes to his friends
Now, his strategy had evolved to, find the weirdos you recognise and sit with them. It was better to have Jesse roll his eyes and bitch about how Kellin wouldnt stop taking about Vic bit refused to make it official than to look a total loner, and anyway his ma would be happy he had socialised.

English involved sitting next to the girl from his art class and a guy who hadnt been at lunch.
'Gerard, this is Pete, he takes some getting used to so please dont just run away screaming' grinned Kay and I guess you know me. Sit down. You're doing all the work I hate English lit its too scientific for an art form. Pete, Gerard'
'Gerard… Way?' asked the other guy
'Yes…?' He shot a look at Pete who seemed really nervous
'Can I date your brother?'
'Wentz for gods sake'
'I have to ask, dont I? Patrick said there would be a protective older brother so I need his blessing first. And It would be lying not to ask up front. Never start a relationship by lying to their relatives. I tried and they kicked me out, could have been literally with the shoes that guy was wearing-'
'You. What.'
Pete turned back to him with an almost exaggerated hopeful expression.
'your brother? Michael James Way? beautiful, glasses, brown hair, talented as fuck on bass, gorgeous, adorable, hot, great taste in music and comics? my soulmate Mikeyway? can I date him?'
'uhh… soulmate?'
Pete nodded eagerly 'yes my soulmate. Thats why this is going to work because he's my soulmate'
Gerard tried to focus on something other than the way a hardcore-looking stranger was practically begging for permission to date his brother, talking about soulmates with an overdone face and pose that looked like it was normal for him.
Pete's face dropped. Like one moment he was hopeful, the next heartbroken.
'oh… sorry… but…'
his cartoon face changed to determined
'please Gerard, give me one chance, I can be the best boyfriend ever please'
'I dont know that' said Gerard finally. 'I dont know you at all'
'okay… can you get to know me? if I need to convince you I'm good for him first, I can wait until youre happy. I can wait until he's sixteen if you really want just please leave me a possibility that one day…' He trailed off, all hopeful puppy eyes again
'fine' Gerard found himself agreeing because a hardcore guy begging is a special kind of cute 'Ill say when I'n sure about… you' he waved a hand and the short stranger (if he didnt know Frank, Pete would be the shortest person he knew)
'Thank you so much… THANK YOU!' Pete wrapped him in a gigantic hug. The hug was probably igger than he was, in fact. One hug like this could potentially damage Mikey quite seriously with his slight build. Or mybe Pete would get briuses from his goddam sharp bones.
'MISTER WENTZ, MISTER WAY! WOULD YOU MIND NOT DOING THAT WHEN YOU ARE SUPPOSED TO BE LEARNING!'
oh shit they forgot the teacher.

'uh… he writes about the impermanence of beauty, but in this poem he writes about how the umm… urn, immortalises it instead?'

'huh whatever' shrugged Kay, but she gave a grin with the right of her mouth anyway.
The lesson was, as all english lessons are, incredibly boring.
'I dont need to psychoabalyse Keats to know he didnt write for schools to dissect his motives. When I write poetry I'm going to add a note saying it cant ever be analysed by schoolteachers. This woman said a rubber plant was supposedly suggestive of the devil. I worry'
the rest of the lesson was Pete and Kay arguing over complex metphors that had Gerard lost in the first few sconds but sounded deep.

My favourite part was Pete begging and Gee all confused about why some stranger wanted to date his brother (and how said stranger knew his brother's full name). I can actually imagine Pete desperatly trying to get Gerard approval for the whole relatinship.
