Dead.

Chapter Twenty-Six

There's was aching in my heart right when my eyes fluttered opened. I couldn't help but to think about all the dead bodies that pile up in the morgue. Body after body, life after life. I wasn't sure how long I could take it. I groaned, rubbing my head as I sat up on the couch. The sunlight peered through the window blinds, making its way in the living room.

I yawned, and the noticed Frank. He was sound asleep, his body sitting up right, facing me. I bit my lower lip. He looked cute in the morning-hell, he's always looked cute. I got up from the couch and pressed my hand on his body, rocking him side to side, "Hey! Wakey, wakey!"

Frank's eyes hesitantly opened, "Wha..." He looked up at me, "Mikey," He started as he shifted into the lone couch, "How are you feeling?"

I scratched the back of my head, "Too early to say," I added on a different note, "I guess you changed your mind last night, huh?"

Frank stretched out his arms before standing up, "My house was too far to walk in the dark." He lied.

I knew Frank was lying. It's really rare to know when he was, but I know he lies to me. I'm use to it, though. I always let it pass me. I knew it was hard for Frank to express his emotions. I bit my bottom lip out of habit, "What do you wanna do?"

Frank seemed annoyed, "I don't care."

I paused, "Let's stay in where the two serial killers won't kill us." I was being serious, but Frank laughed. I didn't know what was so funny about it, I was being serious.

There was a sudden knock on the door. I jumped slightly, "God dammit..." I was being vulnerable, paranoid.

Frank scowled, "I think I know who it is."

"Gerard?" I said almost excited. I stopped, "What happened to you to anyway?" All I really knew was that they had an argument.

Frank muttered, "We had sex until around 12:30, then we got in an argument, went our separate ways."

I stared at him, "Oh." Was all I could say. Frank had always been my crush, and so was Gerard, but I had the love-hate emotion when he told me they had sex. It's hot, but I wasn't doing the fucking.

The knocks begun again. I didn't know whether to open the door. I looked at Frank, "Should I-"

"No." Frank said, "How about we go to the back and go somewhere where Gerard can't find us?"

"I don't know-"

Frank's hand wrapped around mine, and I couldn't finish my sentence. Frank pulled me to the back door, and my mind was focused on Frank's hand holding mine. He's never held my hand, I always had to hold his. He must really want to get away from Gerard.

We went through the back door, Frank's hand still holding mine. He let go when we reached the back fence. He climbed over, and being a follower, I reflected his moves. I didn't know where he was taking us, but I didn't really care.

Frank and I finally jumped onto the sidewalk near an old burger joint. Before Frank or I could take a step, Gerard's voice said, "Where are you boys going?"

I heard Frank mutter, "You got to be fucking kidding me."

I'll admit, I was really excited to see Gerard. I replied, "No where, really."

Gerard stepped in, "Maybe we can go to the Ol' Als?" He gestured to the burger joint a few feet away.

My face flushed, "We?"

Gerard grinned, "You and I."

His hazel eyes stared into mine. I don't remember them being so dark, but they were still mesmerizing.

Frank scoffed, "Mikey's not going anywhere with you." I felt his hand grasp onto mine, and my body heated up in passion. Frank added, "He's staying with me." The two argued over me, and I swear, even if it's bad, it felt so good.

Gerard said, "Then we all go together."

I shouted in excitement, "Yes!"

The two looked at me. I froze, "I mean, yeah...I want to hang out with both of you."

Frank tightened his jaw, "Fine. As long as you two aren't left alone."

Gerard winked at me, "We would be better alone."

The way he said it was so scrappy, so weird...so hot. I smiled widely as Frank tightened his hand around mine. Gerard glanced at the hand holding before he, himself grabbed my other hand. This, my friends, is truly heaven.

The two walked into the burger joint with me. Frank made me sit in a booth close to the window before he sat next to me on the outside. Gerard sat on the other side. It was quiet. Like, awkward quiet. I messed with the ketchup bottle until a waitress approached our booth. She smiled, "Hello, my name is Jenna and I will be your waitress." Her brown eyes lit, "Would anyone would like to try our new mushroom burger?"

"No, but I'll take a regular hamburger without any cheese." Gerard said.

Jenna took down the notes in her small notepad, "Any drinks?" She asked as he pushed her brown hair back.

"Just water." Gerard said, not making eye contact.

Jenna nodded, "Okay, sure thing."

She turned her attention to Frank who said, "Just a coffee. Surprise me."

Jenna smiled, "Okay, and you?" She asked me, "What would you like?"

I wanted so much food. I was really hungry but Gerard and Frank had barley gotten anything. I paused, "Uh...fries and a cheeseburger...coke for drink."

"Curly fries, okay?" She asked.

"Yeah."

Jenna smiled, "Okay, your food will be ready shortly." Her heels collided with the ground as she walked away, and I couldn't help but notice that Gerard was staring at her weirdly, He shifted in his seat, "She's pretty."

I nodded, "Yeah. I like her long hair."

I looked at Frank, who was staring at Gerard. And it wasn't a cute stare, it was more of a...threatening stare. It's understandable. I wouldn't want to be in the same room with my ex either.

Frank said, "Gerard, I thought I told you I wanted you to go away." His voice was low, but serious.

Gerard said back softly, "Yeah, but that doesn't mean Mikey wants me to go away."

I awkwardly picked at my fork as the two argued softly. I looked out the window, giving the illusion that I wasn't listening, but the two weren't stupid. They were careful with their word choosing.

Frank said, "Don't do this."

I was a bit confused, right then and there.

I can hear the smile in Gerard's voice, "Maybe you should've just-"

"Okay then," Jenna's voice interrupted Gerard, and she gave me her full attention as she gave us our food. I took in the smell of curly fries, fresh cut. The cheeseburger had a strong but tasty scent. She handed me my coke, and I was completely satisfied...unlike Gerard. He seemed really pissy because of his conversation with Frank.

Jenna handed Frank his coffee. And then, she gave Gerard his water and food. She said, "If there's anything else-"

"Jenna." Gerard said.

Jenna looked at Gerard, "Ye-"

"What's wrong with this burger?" Gerard pushed the plate to Jenna. Jenna looked confused, "I...I don't know, sir-"

"Look closely." He said, his eyes daggering hers.

Jenna still hadn't figured it out, but I did. There was cheese in his burger, and Gerard did not seem happy about it-like, at all. Jenna stammered, "I...I don't..."

Gerard yelled, sending shock waves up my body, "There's fucking cheese in my burger, you cunt."

It seemed as if everyone in the restaurant had froze. I said softly, "Gerard...it's not a big deal..."

He ignored me as he got up, bumping shoulders with Jenna as he walked out of the restaurant.

Jenna's eyes were wide, watery. Frank got out of the booth, pulling out his wallet to pay. I got out too, hesitating to comfort the waitress. When I had the guts, I wrapped my arms around her. She didn't mind at all. It seemed as if she wanted the comfort. She buried her face in my chest, not crying or saying a word. She was just...in shock.

Frank placed the money on the table and said to Jenna, "Sorry about...him." His words were directed to Gerard. Frank tapped my shoulder, "Let's go."

I let go of Jenna, and she stared at me. Her eyes did not glow anymore, and it seemed as if she saw a ghost. Her tan skin seemed white, her long brown hair seemed faded. Gerard seemed to make an impact with one yell.

And when I saw the waitress, in the condition that she was in, I lost my appetite for the rest of the afternoon.
