Vision

Patrick couldn’t sleep either so after we finished hugging it out we hunkered down on the couch and decided to watch a movie.
“Any requests, Chris?”
“Hm, well I don’t remember having a favorite movie so what are my choices?”
“Well I have ‘The Avengers’, ‘Scary Movie 3’, ‘City of Ember’, and ‘The Lorax’. But I can get anything on Pay Per View.”
“The Lorax? What even is a Lorax?” I laughed nervously. I really hoped it wasn’t something really well known that I had forgotten.
“That settles it, we are watching ‘The Lorax’.”
“It’s not a scary movie is it?”
Patrick laughed at my question but when he saw the hurt expression on my face he clarified. “No, it’s a kids movie kind of, but it’s really good and has good music.”
“Well I know for a fact that I love music so let’s do it!”
Patrick put the movie in and plopped onto the couch next to me, it wasn’t a very comfortable couch but Patrick’s arm made a nice pillow. I leaned my head on his shoulder and felt his head turn towards me; I looked up and saw a concerned expression on his face.
“Chris…” His hand slowly reached towards my neck and collarbone, his fingers softly brushed over the space like Gerard’s lips had. Gerard’s lips. Hickeys. Fuck.
“Patrick, it’s-“
“Brendon didn’t do this, I would have seen them earlier. Chris, please tell me you didn’t-“
“What, fuck Gerard? I didn’t okay, I’m sorry, I just, I don’t even know how to explain.”
Patrick’s face turned bright red and he giggled, he actually giggled at my irate expression.
“Am I missing something?”
“I’m sorry, you’re right it’s none of my business, it’s just-,” he laughed again and pointed at my neck, “This is adorable, or maybe it’s just me but-“ he had to stop again and laugh, “This one is shaped like a heart.”
“I could hit you right now Patrick middle name Stump.”
“Martin.”
“What?”
“My middle name, it’s Martin, now think of how awesome my initials are.”
“Patrick Martin Stump, P-M-, oh god I’m so sorry.”
We were both a giggling mess and by the time we had calmed down and gotten comfortable again the movie was ten minutes in.

I loved every minute of the movie, well, the minutes of it that I was awake for. I fell asleep on Patrick’s shoulder; my arms wrapped around his left arm, holding it like a lifeline. Patrick sang along to the songs and when he didn’t remember the words he would just make them up. I couldn’t help but smile and laugh along with him, even though we were both so tired if I could stay awake for anything it was Patrick Stump singing along to ‘The Lorax’ soundtrack. The last part of the movie that I remember was the dull thud of the last tree falling down, and then I gave in to the bliss of sleep.

My dreams were stained with flashes of Brendon’s vacant eyes and splatters of blood, tears and pain and screaming, and my life. I remembered all the darkness I had seen, but also all of the light. Memories that had been rough and broken were crystal clear in the void of my subconscious. Even though I was asleep I knew one thing, when I awoke, I had to tell them everything. Gerard and Patrick deserved to know the truth; I just prayed it didn’t tear them apart.
