Chapter 22

...“I’m writing the blog post, remember? The wifi in my room doesn’t work properly,” Frank replies to my silent question and I nod, slumping onto Diego’s bed.

Oh my fucking god.

Did they all just hear me jack off?

Gerard’s POV

After several minutes of awkward silence, accompanied by soft taps of Frank’s keyboard, he finally clears his throat and closes his laptop shut. He pushes himself off my bed and stands up looking over us. I realise that he’s again trying to look intimidating, but right now to me he just looks adorable, in a way. There’s still some seriousness in his eyes, and even when his eyes flicker over to me, it doesn’t disappear.

He gives me a short, almost unnoticeable nod towards the door, gesturing me to follow him outside. He then turns his gaze to the rest of the guys.

“Tomorrow everyone will go out for snacks and I’m going to be the one accompanying you to the store, so if you want to get food into your room, I suggest you put it in my backpack,” he says and quickly marches out without another word.

“He says nice things but still manages to sound like a jerk,” Diego utters, looking at the door behind which Frank has just disappeared. I don’t care what he’s saying, Frank told me to come outside to meet him, so I must.

“Hey, I’m gonna go get myself a tea, okay?” I ask, starting to slowly stand up. I just need to get out of the room...

“I don’t think you can do that, it’s almost lights-out time,”

“Dude, I fainted today, I can do whatever I want,” I force a laugh and quickly walk out of the door, hurriedly shutting it behind myself so that I don’t have any more questions asked. Sure enough, Frank is in the corridor, leaning against the wall, his arms crossed on his chest. His eyes lift up at me, holding mine, and the corner of his lip twitches in a smile.

Suddenly I’m scared he’s going to talk to me about Tom hugging me in the field. I’ve read so many books and fanfictions where someone hugging somebody else became the reason for a breakup that right now this scenario seems more than likely.

Please no, I can’t lose him

Meanwhile, Frank takes a step closer to me, and, against all my expectations, his arm wraps around my waist, pulling me closer to him. My body presses into his and I lay my head on his shoulder, wishing he could hold me like this forever.

“Can I accompany you to the dining?” he whispers into my ear and I nod, letting out a sigh of relief. He's not mad at me. He releases me from the embrace and his arm moves up to my shoulders. This way it looks like we’re just friends, and it’s not as suspicious.

We walk down the stairs in silence, but it doesn’t feel uncomfortable- it feels warm and fuzzy, like if the air is made up of millions and millions of teddy bears. But if it was, we wouldn’t be able to breathe.

Air made up of teddy bears would suck.

Frank pushes me through the dining door and enters after me. The room is empty, and there are no tea bags, cups or sources of hot water in view.

“Did you really want that tea?” Frank asks, looking down at me and I shake my head.

“I thought you wanted to talk to me, tea was my excuse to leave,”

“I wanted to hold you, that’s it,” he says and his lips part in a smile. He leans downwards, meaning to kiss me but before our lips can touch he straightens his back and pulls away, deciding against it.

“Sorry, it’s just that…” he starts and I interrupt him with a sigh

“It’s okay, I understand,”

“Listen, I’m kind of scared to wake the “tea lady” up, so how about you just drink some water?” he asks, and the hope in his eyes makes me laugh.

“Sure,” I smile, now standing on my tiptoes and quickly pecking his lips. Better than nothing. “I didn’t really want that tea anyways,”

Frank chuckles softly before leaning down towards me, his arm wrapping around my lower back once again and presses me to him, sealing our lips together. I melt into the touch and close my eyes, letting Frank hold me up. Suddenly I feel his tongue run over my bottom lip. Remembering all the fanfictions I’ve read, I quickly realise that he’s asking me to grant him access to my mouth. I immediately part my lips, not giving the fact that I’ve never done this before any thought, when suddenly Frank practically leaps away from me. His arms leave my waist and I stand dumbfounded for several seconds before finally catching up with what’s happening.

Ballash marches into the room right at that second, throwing me a short confused glance before turning to face Frank, anger evident on his face. Frank must’ve heard his footsteps, that’s why he stopped kissing me.

“What are you doing here?” Ballash asks, probably trying to sound casual but the nervous notes in his voice are obvious.

“Gerard wanted to get tea and the lady wasn’t here, so he got me to help him,” Frank replies cooly. It surprises me how good of a liar he is- he is staring right into Ballash’s eyes, and his cheeks aren’t even a bit red. Just a counselor helping a innocent low-blood-pressured teenager get tea.

***

Frank and I walk upstairs, a hot cup of tea in my hand (thanks to Ballash, who’s also really good at appearing at the most inappropriate moments), none of us saying anything. It sucks that we don’t get to talk the way I’d like to talk to him, but just knowing that he likes me is enough. We reach our doors, which are right opposite each other, when he finally speaks up.

“Hey, you wanna come into my room?” he asks quietly.

Fuck yes I do, what kind of question is that?

“Sorry, I can’t, I gotta get back to the guys,”

Frank frowns and I laugh, covering my mouth with the back of my hand. It’s one of my bad habits, or at least that’s what my mom calls them. She has even made a list for me to work on them, but I just don’t care enough since I don’t see anything that bad in them.

“Oh and by the way, I completely forgot to ask you, where were you during dinner?” I ask Frank and his smile fades, just a hint of it left on his lips.

“Oh that… I just needed to go somewhere real quick,”

“Like where? It was pouring outside,”

“I was at the store,” I suddenly notice that Frank’s cheeks are bright red, and so is his forehead. Is he hiding something.

“Why?” I insist.

“I’ll tell you later, I promise,” he blurts out before quickly leaning down and kissing me on the cheek. His eyes are wide and look crazed, as if he’s in panic. He notices my confusion. “I swear on my life it’s nothing bad, I love you to bits,” he adds and hurriedly disappears behind his door, not letting me say a word.

Believe it or not, I checked back with this story pretty often. And if writing the endings to your other stories sounds like the right thing to do, go for it! :D
