The boys made their way through security after checking their bags. In a few hours they would be in LA and searching for Jaydee. When Mikey stepped foot on the plane he could feel the anticipation building inside him. He didn’t know how long it would take but he would see Jaydee and Peyton. He knew deep down in his heart they were ok.

The seat belt light flashed on and the sturdiest was going over the safety instructions. Soon after, the plane started rolling off the ground and into the sky.

About a mile back Gerard passed a sign greeting them to California. It was a long trip but they were finally there. After all the shit he went through to get to Jaydee and Peyton and break out of jail he was finally free. The cops could still get him in LA but how would they know that’s we’re he went? The population in LA was huge. There was no way they would be able to get him. He felt a sense of relief knowing he could start over with his family.

Gerard looked over at Jaydee hoping she had the same look of excitement that he did, but his spirits dropped when he saw her frowning. She didn’t look happy. She wasn’t picturing their life together like he was. He could tell by looking at her what she was thinking of. Mikey.

Jaydee watched at the lights of the city and cars grew closer. She wanted to be with Gerard but not like this. He needed help. He wasn’t safe for Peyton to be around. What if he got mad at her and tried to hurt her. She knew how much Gerard loved Peyton but he loved her too and look what he’s done so far.

“So where are we staying? We won’t be able to get an apartment in one day?” Jaydee finally asked after hours of silence driving through the city.” He said plainly. It was clear in her voice that she didn’t want to be there and it broke his heart.

Jaydee went silent. What else was there to say?

After they found a hotel and get check in, they called up room service and watched a movie with Peyton for a while. She fell asleep with her head on Gerard’s lap with is stroking her
hair. In the past couple days Gerard and Jaydee noticed Peyton started calling
Gerard “Daddy”. Neither of them knew why exactly but deep down for Gerard I made the whole trip worth it.

Gee tucked Peyton and laid with her for a while. She curled up against his chest sucking her thumb and hugging one of his arms.

Jaydee came out of the bathroom with a towel wrapped around her. She watched Peyton sleeping next to Gerard. The child looked to content and at peace. She had really grown to love her daddy in the past couple days.

Gerard looked up at Jaydee and slowly sat up as to not wake Peyton. The two of them hadn’t spoken much since they got to California and it was eating away at him.

“What’s been your issue? You haven’t said a word since we got here.” Gerard said walking over to her.

“I’m scared Gee.” Jaydee said honestly.

“Of what? Everything’s gonna be ok now.” He said brushing a damp strand of hair from her
face.

Jaydee sighed and looked down.

“You.”
