Give Me Blood

XII

When Frank woke up the next morning, he found that most of his limbs were tangled with Gerard's. He smiled at that, cuddling even closer to him, enjoying the moment. The addictive scent of Gerard was all around him and he closed his eyes, trying to memorize the feeling of being so close to him. He wanted this moment to never end. Gee looked so sweet and innocent when he was sleeping, Frank's heart warmed at the sight.
They were only friends, though, he needed to remind himself of that. Gerard needed his help right now and what he definitely didn't need was his best friend drooling at the sight of him, hopelessly in love with him and fucking up their friendship, which they had just picked up recently.
So he had to pull himself together. He just wasn't used to having Gerard around all the time anymore, having to hide his feelings for the other man at all times. He managed to do it quite well in the past, though, so he wasn't too worried about it.
Not only that Gerard himself hadn't noticed a thing, he sometimes was a bit blind when it came to detecting that somebody liked him, but also no one else had caught on to his secret. Except Jamia. But it had taken her long enough, considering how close they are.
Frank was excited to have Gerard with him to keep him company on this tour. They would live together on the bus and spend a lot of time with each other. Just like old times.
He smiled a sad smile. It was really not like the old times at all. The rest of the guys weren't there and he would be the only one making music and playing shows, standing on stage with a band that was not My Chem.
Some things never change, though. He was still in love with Gerard and he still couldn't have him. Instead he would have to try and help him figure out what to do about his marriage, now that he didn't love Lindsey anymore.
Well, he didn't really have to do that, letting Gerard stay with him to get away from everything for a while was actually enough, but he wanted to help him. He hated seeing Gerard sad and his own biggest joy in life lay in making his best friend laugh.
So despite the painful fact that Gerard was totally oblivious to Frank being head over heals in love with him, he was actually looking forward to living with him for a while.
Gerard stirred in his sleep, mumbling something incoherently, which kind of sounded like 'chocolate chips'.
Frank chuckled silently at him, wondering why this man had to be so adorable. He decided that he was just born this way, because as long as he could remember, Gerard had always been cute as fuck. And they knew each other for quite some time now. He didn't even remember how long it was exactly.
All Frank knew, was that he'd been in love with him for ever. Throughout all the changes and the up and downs Gerard went through, this had been a constant. He adored the other man, and he greatly admired him.
And now that Frank knew that Gerard no longer loved Lindsey, he would most likely be single soon.
No. Stop!
He couldn't even go there in his own mind. This wishful daydreaming would only give him hope again. Hope for something that was never going to happen and it would destroy him. He had put on a brave face for long enough, but his one sided feelings for Gerard did hurt. And very much so.
He tried to shove it all into the back of his mind and focus on a way to make Gerard feel better instead.
He reached for his phone to look at the time.
Shit! It was later than he thought it would be.
He shook Gerard gently to wake him up. He slowly opened his eyes, blinking adorably.
'Gee you've got to go and get your stuff, we're leaving in less than an hour!', Frank keened.
Gerard looked confused at first, but then seemed to remember their conversation from the night before. 'Alright, alright', he yawned, getting up and stretching.
Frank averted his eyes from him to keep himself from checking him out. Gerard then trudged to the door, turning around to say 'See you soon', before leaving.
He was obviously still half asleep. Frank smiled to himself. He sat up straight and thought about Gerard for a bit, having nothing else to do. He could use some breakfast but he decided to wait for Gerard so they could eat together.
After a while he decided to call Jamia to talk to her. She was the only person he could go to about Gerard. And he needed to talk, too. He quickly dialed her number, hoping not to wake her up. She sounded wide awake, though, as she answered her phone. Frank explained Gerard's situation to her and she listened patiently and then told him that maybe he had a chance now.
He shook his head at her, even though she couldn't see him and said 'He doesn't even swing that way'.
'He sure looks like it most of the time', she answered, leaving him with nothing to contradict the statement, because that, at least, was true. He just sighed.
'Look, you two have something special...'
'Yeah a special friendship', he cut her off. 'It doesn't matter who I love because he sure as hell doesn't feel that way about me'.
There was a short silence, after which Jamia said 'We will see', and then she excused herself, because apparently she had somewhere to go, and hung up, leaving Frank even more frustrated than before, because now a tiny bit of hope had crept into his head and refused to go away.
