Give Me Blood

Gerard was just about to open the door and enter Frank's tour bus, his duffle bag with the things he needed to stay there for a while slung over his shoulder, when he heared Frank talk.
Was somebody else in there? It wasn't in his nature to eavesdrop but he was curious, so he hesitated in front of the door. Frank's voice was muffled by the barrier between them but Gerard could still understand him quite well.
In that moment he heared him say 'It doesn't matter who I love because he sure as hell doesn't feel that way about me '.
Gerard was confused. Very confused. What was going on in there? Was this really Frank who just said that? It had to be, Gerard would recognize that voice anywhere.
Had he heared everything right? No misunderstandings? Because Frank had just said that he loved somebody who didn't return the sentiment.
And if he heared correctly, this person was male. But that couldn't be, could it? He was supposed to love Jamia. His wife, who is a woman. Is he unfaithful?
No Frank would never do that! He was a loving, caring guy and so honest and sweet.
Yes, Gerard was biased, he was in love with him, but he was sure that Frank was not a cheater, anyway.
He had also said that the person didn't feel the same, which makes cheating on his wife with them impossible.
But Frank was supposed to be straight, too. And now he just said he was in love with a guy.
The biggest question of all was who is it? It could be someone from his band maybe? Gerard had no clue.
He snapped himself out of those thoughts, this had not been intended for him to hear. He should just forget about it.
He couldn't, of course, he really wanted to know who it was that had Frank's heart.
He felt a wave of jealousy surge through him. It had never been that bad with Jamia. Sure, he envied her because she got to be with Frank, but he also liked her. She made Frank happy and she was really funny and kind. And she was a woman, so Gerard was really no competition for her.
That's just the way it was. Frank was into women so there was really nothing Gerard could do.
But now that he heared that Frank was in love with a man, he felt the jealousy flaring up inside him. Hd didn't even know who he was jealous of but it was a male person so he could have had a chance with Frank as well. If he was more like that mystery guy. And this was much more unbearable than the thought of Frank loving Jamia. Because Gerard loved Frank so much, but Frank didn't seem to even notice him in that way. Gerard obviously wasn't good enough for him. And that hurt like hell.
He wasn't supposed to hear all that, though, so he had to pretend like he didn't know a thing. He had to suck it up, fake a smile and just go in there. And that's what he did.
His face looked more like he had just tasted something really bitter when he finally entered the bus, but Frank didn't seem to notice, or at least he said nothing about it.
Instead, he beamed at Gerard, asking him if he was ready to go and if he wanted some breakfast.
Gerard nodded to both and followed Frank into the kitchen area of the bus. He stayed silent while Frank made two cups of coffee and toasted some bread. Frank layed two plates and knives onto the table and got the butter.
'Do you want anything else?', he asked Gerard, who just shook his head and sat down at the table. Frank sat down opposite from him and began to enthusiastically butter a piece of toast.
Gerard watched him, slowly sipping at his coffee, Frank's words from before were still nagging at him, his attempt to ignore it was unsuccessful.
There was nobody else on the bus, so Frank had either been on the phone with someone or he had been talking to himself.
He did that sometimes, when he thought he was alone.
Gerard found this really cute and endearing. It was usually banal stuff, though, so it was more likely that he had been talking to someone via phone call.
But who had he been talking to? Who did he trust with this kind of information and why didn't he tell Gerard instead?
He was getting jealous again. He had told Frank about his problems, had confided in him. Why didn't he trust him like that? Gerard was a little hurt by it.
'So how are things with you and Jamia?', Gerard burst out, no longer able to contain himself.
Frank froze immediately in his motions, the atmosphere in the room instantly turning to a sharp and cold one. Gerard regretted tge question already, cursing himself in his head.
He shouldn't have brought it up, it was none of his business.
Still, he watched Frank intently, waiting for a reaction.
And it came in sort of a long exhale from Frank, before he looked at Gerard.
He was obviously thinking hard about something to say.
Gerard knew him well, he was no liar and he refused to ever lie if it wasn't completely necessary.
It was still obvious that this wasn't a topic Frank wanted to talk about. But then he sighed again, mumbling 'We're not together anymore'.
Gerard was shocked. He knew that Frank was in love with somebody else but it didn't occur to him that it would have affected his marriage already.
'Wait, you are still married, though, aren't you?'
Frank only nodded.
'But she was here just yesterday', Gerard blurted out, surprised.
'Well yeah, we're still friends.'
'But... why?', Gerard asked, sounding baffled, even though he was pretty sure he knew the answer by now.
'Because I'm in love with another person', Frank admitted, hanging his head in shame.
'Who?', Gerard demanded and Frank looked up at him, beautiful, wide hazel eyes staring into his own.
