Give Me Blood

XI

Gerard felt like he belonged in Frank's arms. That was an illusion, though, they were nothing more than friends, Frank wasn't his to hold whenever he felt like it, he had a wife.
And, unfortunately, Gerard had one, too.
It's not that he didn't like Lindsey, because he really did, she was an amazing woman. Despite his crush on Frank, he had been able to convince himself to move on from him at some point in the past. And it had been working perfectly for a while, they had a daughter and he loved Bandit with his whole heart.
But with Lyn-Z and him both playing in different bands, being on different tours in different countries most of the time, they had kind of fallen out of love.
At least that's how Gerard felt. He didn't know what Lindsey thought of it.
They hadn't seen each other in a while, and the occasional phone conversations they shared were nothing but generic small talk. They both didn't really like phone calls, they preferred face to face conversations. Those were much more personal.
But when you're in different parts of the world, you've got to make do with the means you have.
All he knew was that he wasn't in love with Lindsey.
He was, in fact, very much in love with the man that was still hugging him tightly.
But if there was one thing he also knew, it was that Bandit would be devastated, if he was to break up with her mom. She loved both her parents equally and most of all she loved their little family as a whole, that much was clear. She was never uhappy being with one of them but she was definitely happiest when they were all together.
Gerard really didn't want to break his little daughter's heart.
But what kind of relationship was that anymore? They barely talked to each other and if they did, then about nothing of real importance. He didn't even really miss her right now, at least not in the way that you miss a lover.
But he wasn't really sure what it was like on her side. Did she miss him? Did she even still love him? He was kinda hoping that she didn't.
But then what? He was in love with Frank, who was in a happy marriage, who had a wife of his own, one that he sincerely loved.
Gerard would be all alone if he didn't have Lindsey anymore and he couldn't have Frank. He was stuck, with no idea what to do.
Gerard sighed, he seemed to do that a lot lately, and let go of Frank. How long had it even been? Pretty long, obviously, because it was already getting dark outside.
Frank didn't seem to mind, though. He studied Gerard's face with concern and then said 'You know you can tell me anything, I won't judge you'.
Gerard knew he could trust Frank, so he decided that he could at least tell him part of the things that were bothering him.
It would definitely be helpful. He'd be able to get rid of some of the pressure and Frank could maybe give him some good advice.
'I don't feel the spark anymore between Lindsey and I. I don't love her like I used to.', Gerard said, seemingly out of the blue.
'What!? You two are like the perfect couple!', Frank gaped at him in disbelief. 'What happened?', he asked, genuinely curious, like he couldn't actually believe it.
'We just grew apart', Gerard sighed.
'And what about Bandit?', Frank asked worriedly. He knew that his daughter was the world to Gerard.
'I don't know. I can't lose her! But I haven't talked to Lindsey yet. I'm a bit scared, to be honest', he admitted.
'Understandable', Frank said.
'What are you going to do about it, though?', he wondered.
'I have no idea', Gerard shook his head.
There was silence for a while, both of them were thinking hard, lost in their own respective heads for a moment, until Frank spoke up.
'You know I'm there for you. You can always stay with me for a little while if you need some time to decide. You can come with me on tour, there is space enough for you on the bus. You don't have to do anything but take time for yourself. Think about it. I'm willing to help you. If all else fails, you will always have me.'
Gerard was stunned into silence for a moment. Yes, they had always been close but that offer showed that Frank really, really cared about him and that made him and that made him really, really happy, even though he didn't care in the same way that he himself did.
And that was why he hesitated. Was this a good idea?
He was in love with the man and he didn't return the feelings, was it clever to live with him in the narrow confines of a tour bus?
He wasn't so sure about it. But then again, he wanted to do it.
So fuck the rest! He wanted to go with Frank, who he had missed so much and would miss even more, otherwise.
He didn't care if it was not the best decision, it was the right one, he just had to get his act together and be a little catious around Frank, but he could do it, of that he was sure.
'I take that offer!', he smiled and Frank beamed right back at him, making his heart flutter.
They were both excited for the times to come, but it had already gotten late, so Frank suggested that Gerard could get the stuff he needed, early the next morning.
Gerard agreed, so they went to get some sleep, cuddled up together on the very same couch, in the very same position they had slept in the previous night.
And they both loved it.
