Laugh It All Off

so we don't have to hear

It was Friday evening and Mikey had the doll over night whilst Frank didn't. This caused him to continuously rub it into Mikey's face throughout the whole time they were together. Which was all night because like most Friday nights, Frank was staying over at Mikey's and they normally played Mikey's console until the early hours of the morning.

However, they had the doll to think about now, and whilst staying up later would help them look after it during the night because then they'd be wide awake, it'd also be a bad thing because they'd both be glued to the screen and not be able to deal with it.

Plus the fact that they would be tired if they stayed up until the early hours, and despite how normal it would be on any other weekend, it wasn't the ideal thing to do when they've a doll who likes waking up practically ever three hours. It would make them both tired and cranky tomorrow and Mikey knew that his mum would not appreciate that.

He was lucky that she was even letting the doll in the house; she was close to saying no over what happened when Gerard brought one home. The only reason he managed to get her to let him was by reminding her that he was Mikey and not Gerard therefore he wouldn't make as much noise with the doll then Gerard would.

It had been the winning statement which made his mum let him have the doll on the days he needed to have it.

"This doll sucks," Frank grumbled as he made his mattress on the floor up. "Not only does it make too much fucking noise, but it's also making us miss our weekly games on the console until the early hours. It's seriously not right."

Mikey rolled his eyes at his friend's stupidity. "It's one day, not like it's going to hurt us, Frank, trust me."

“If I die tonight then it's your fault, okay, Mikey?”

“Whatever, Frank.”

-

Mikey was woken by a knock on his bedroom door and Frank was woken by the sound of talking between Gerard and Mikey.

“What the fuck, Gerard?”

“There's two girls at the door. One's your crush and one's the weird girl.”

“What time is it?”

“Half ten.”

“Fuck.”

Frank rubbed his eyes before leaning up on his elbows and looking at the brothers. “Are you serious? They're here now?”

Gerard nodded which made Frank groan and let his head drop down to the mattress. It was far too early for him to be up, but it seemed like he was going to have to get up whether he liked it or not. And of course he wouldn't like it.

When Gerard left the room Mikey collapsed back in his bed as well, not quite awake enough to stretch out and put his glasses on. Besides as soon as he puts his glasses on, his eyes would be wide awake but not necessarily his mind.

Finally pulling themselves out of bed when Gerard called up the stairs, the two boys made their way from Mikey's room and downstairs, Mikey with the doll in hand. They opened the front door and saw Alicia and Angharad standing there.

“You forgot the bag Mikey,” Alicia pointed out when she saw that he only had the doll in his hand.

“Fuck! Ugh... do you want to come in for a while? I'm not going upstairs just for that, the damn doll kept me up practically all night,” Mikey almost whined.

"Sure." Alicia laughed.

Frank looked at Angharad who just gave him the doll. She didn't look a single bit tired or annoyed with the doll which made Frank a tad jealous. He had to put up with the doll during the night along with Mikey so he was tired as well.

"Don't break it," was all she said to him before turning and walking away from the house.

Frank just looked down at the doll and bag that was now in his hands. He then noticed that Mikey and Alicia weren't at the door anymore. Sighing, he closed the door before dumping the bag in the sitting room and reluctantly taking the doll into the kitchen with him. Alicia and Mikey, surprisingly, were there already.

"Geez, Angharad's real nice to have a conversation with," Frank stated, rolling his eyes and dumping the doll on the kitchen counter.

"She's not that bad," Mikey retorted.

"She's actually quite nice when she wants to be," Alicia told him to which he just snorted.

"I'll believe that when I see it."

Mrs. Way came into the kitchen and looked at the doll on the counter. "Is there any reason as to why there's a doll on the counter that I use to make food on?"

"It's Frank's doll." She looked at Mikey and noticed the doll in his arms.

"I'm hoping you'll cook it or something, just anything to get it away from me," Frank mumbled which made her give a hearty chuckle.

Leaving the doll where it was she got the ingredients out for pancakes which she always made every Saturday morning. Once everything was out on the side she then got the equipment she needed to make them with.

Just as she was about to ask what they wanted on their pancakes, Frank's voice beat her to it.

"Syrup."

"Sugar."

"What do you say?"

"Please," both boys said in unison which made both Mrs. Way and Alicia laugh.

She then turned to Alicia. "Are you having breakfast, dear?"

"Oh.. no, I ate before I came. Thanks anyway."

It took around five minutes for Mrs. Way to make the pancakes she needed and apply what the boys wanted on them. She placed them in front of each boy. "Clean your dishes when you're done boys."

With that she left the room and the boys dug into their pancakes. They made conversation with Alicia as they ate and just before they had finished with their breakfast, the doll that was on the counter started crying.

“For fuck sakes.”
