Kids in Love

The guys started their new gig the following week. Alice had already begun her life guarding job and it was more fun than she thought it would be. Her job was essentially to open the pool in the morning, close it in the evening, and sit in a chair for the time in between. The only other person that worked there was a woman who had to be sixty at least. She didn't own the pool, but she did keep it running. If Alice was being completely honest, this lady scared the living day lights out of her. She wasn't one of those jolly old women who started to bake cookies and wear cardigans with animals on them as she got older. Instead she was one of those women who looked a little bit like a walking skeleton that was somehow always on edge. Her name was Agatha and she put the fear of god in anyone she looked at. So Alice kept well out of her way, thank fully she was usually in her office and wasn't walking around all that much.

There was one other lifeguard who worked the weekend shift but They never really interacted. All in all Alice liked the job more than she though she would initially, she was getting payed to sit in a chair the sunshine and occasionally fish a lost swim cap from the pool. Though there was adownside, she didn't get to see Frank as often as she would've liked to. He was already busy practicing with the guys as it was but now she was working during the day and he was playing in the evening. Though it would've been nice, Alice couldn't go to every show the guys played, considering she was a life guard it probably wasn't best to be staying out late in bars every evening after work. It wasn't all bad though, they both had the weekends off so it made them appreciate that time together all the more.

It was a Friday evening, Alice was closing up as she did every day at eight. It had been over three weeks since Alice had seen the guys play properly but from what she heard from both themselves and Lindsey, who worked behind the bar each evening that they were playing, they were doing phenomenally. Strangely bringing out larger crowds on the weeknights than on the weekends which according to Bob, "never happens". That weekend Frank was staying with his Dad and they wouldn't see each other at all so she decided that it was about time she watched one if their shows again.

She got a bus to the club after getting washed and changed into better clothes, by the time she arrived at the club it was already open. It had hardly been open for thirty minutes and already it was filled with people. She squirmed and pushed past what seemed like an endless stream of drunk teenagers until she finally made her was up to the bar where Lindsey was taking orders.

Lindsey was getting prepared for going back to college, so she had to have her summer project prepared within the next month. As a result she was busy during the weekends and any free time she did have was usually spent with Gerard. So they hadn't seen each other properly in a few days now.
"Hey, can I get a vodka and coke?" Alice shouted over the band. Lindsey just nodded without looking and prepared the drink before turning and handing it to Alice. She caught a glimpse of her face and grinned, "Holy shit! Alice, what are you doing here. Why didn't you tell me you were coming?!" She shouted across the counter.
"Well that would defeat the purpose of a surprise now wouldn't it?" Alice giggled, taking a small sip of her drink, "How much do I owe ya'?" She asked, Lindsey just waved her off.
"It's on the house. I can't really talk now, the place is packed, but when it dies down later on come find me and we'll have a drink. Cool?"
Alice nodded and waved goodbye, making her way into the dance floor to watch the band.

Sorry about the time between updates, I posted the last chapter just fine and then when I went to reply to people's comments the wifi was shut off and I wanted to kill someone!!
