You're Not In This Alone

I continue to bite down on my bottom lip to stop it quivering and play with my hands in my lap as Liz makes her way across the room and sits on the couch on Ryan's other side, sitting so close her arm is pressed against his and I glance up to see her smirking in what I'm sure she thinks is a sexy expression but it just makes her look pathetic. "Hey Ry, long time no see" she purrs out and her voice just fills me with anger. "Yeah hey" he says, not bothering to turn his head to look at her. "So what have you been upto? Working on any new paintings? Id love to come by the studio and check them out, remember all the good times we've had there...." I've heard enough so I stand up and Ryan frowns as he says "You ok?" "Yeah I'll be right back" I say softly as I cross the room and step out into the hallway, making my way to the bathroom just down the hall. Once the door is locked behind me I approach the sink, bracing my hands on the edge as I try to remain calm, my breathing becoming more and more unstable by the second and a few tears roll down my cheeks as my mind tells me it's my fault and that if Ryan were with Liz she would never put him through what I have. I start to hyperventilate when someone knocks on the door and I let out a frightened squeal, jumping in shock at the loud noise and Ryan's voice says "Baby please let me in" as he rattles the doorknob and I slowly edge my way across the room and unlock the door before stepping back, Ryan coming in and closing the door behind himself before crossing to me and wrapping me in his arms. "Are you alright?" He asks softly and I sniffle as I bury my face in his neck, tears still slowly rolling down my cheeks. "Oh baby I'm sorry I made you come out, I'll take you home." "No I was ok until she came" I tell him, my lips brushing his neck as I speak and Ryan sighs and says "Yeah I'm sorry about that, I didn't know she was coming. We can go if you want."

After we leave the bathroom again we go back into the practice space and Liz and her friend are sprawled out on the couch leaving us no where to sit and when they see me I hear Liz say "Oh my god it's called makeup" and her friend giggles and says "Is she dying or something?" "Hopefully" Liz says and suddenly Ryan's hand leaves mine and he marches across the room towards them, getting in Liz's face as he says "Shut the fuck up you ugly whore, even with all the makeup in the world you're nothing compared to Ruby, you're just a sad pathetic slut who needs to spread her legs for people to like her because of how truly terrible a person you are." Liz sits in shock for a few seconds before she stands up and raises her hand and slaps Ryan across the cheek and I snap, rushing across the room and shoving her harshly, knocking her off balance before I punch her in the face and she launches herself at me, throwing a punch to my jaw but her aim is slightly off and the punch doesn't hold much force and I grit my teeth as I throw another punch at her and this time I don't stop, letting out all my anger and frustration and pain on her face and I get three or four punches in before I'm pulled away by Brendon and once I'm a safe distance from her I break completely, big wailing sobs breaking free and Brendon turns me around, crushing me to his chest as Ryan rushes over to us and plasters himself to my back, holding me as well as I cry hysterically again.
