Just Sleep

"Trinity, you're late." my boss Bob says in a gruff voice, "sorry Bob I was having trouble getting Cherry ready." I sigh walking into the staff change rooms, "just five hours Trin." I say to myself before taking a big breath and getting to work.

-3 hours later-

"Hey Trin," a local named Lorrie says whilst I'm on my break, gesturing for me to take the seat beside her, "Hey Lorrie, how have you been?" I ask sliding into the seat, "yeah good thanks, the boys have been causing but boys will be boys." I laugh, I haven't seen her children since Cherry was two, they would be 16 and 12 now. "How has Cherry and you been going?" Lorrie asks and I look at my hands, "we are managing, Cherry is going good at her preschool and as you can see I'm still here." Lorrie smiles at me, "you know if you ever need someone to take care of Cherry, I'm sure that she would love to spend time with Kaileb and Eric if he's there." I smile at her, it would be nice, "I'll see if she would be into it." I say, Lorrie is like a aunty to Cherry. "Exce-" "TRINITY, GET BACK TO WORK!" Bob yells cutting Lorrie off, "I'll chat to you later." I say quickly before heading to the kitchen to get some of my orders.

"HEY WAITRESS, CAN I GET ANOTHER GLASS OF WATER!?" One of the customers yells out and I rush over to that person, Lorrie gives me a apologetic look as rush past. "TRINITY, ORDER UP!" the cook yells and I rush over to the kitchen grabbing the serving of waffles and giving them to a young girl with light blonde hair and imaginative eyes, "you're Cherry Dawes' mother right?" the mum of the blonde haired girl asks, "I sure am." I say smiling, the woman passes me a envelope, "this is from Abigail," she says and I nod, "I'll be sure to give her it."

-2 hours later-

"See you tomorrow Trinity, don't be late." Bob says and I wave goodbye before heading out the door and rushing home, I can dream for about one hour then I need to get Cherry, when I arrive home I walk inside to see Gerard smiling with a cup of coffee. "Welcome back Trin!" he says and I smile, "I'm going to go and get some rest." I say and Gerard's eyebrows furrow, "you need to start living in the real world Trinity." "I know Gee, wake me up in fifty minutes." I say kissing him on the cheek and then going into my room and falling asleep.

"Trinity," Gerard's voice says and I wake up, I'm in my dorm. "yes Gee?" I say running my hand through my blonde hair that drops halfway down my back. "You need to hide Trinity, you've been sleeping for too long, she will find you!" Gerard shouts and fear starts running through my veins, Ms Stackhouse my headmistress hates it when students sleep in, if I don't hide now I will get another lashing, "I'm scared Gee." I say tears welling up in my eyes as Gerard shuts the closet doors, "don't worry Trin, if she tries to hurt you she'll have to get through me first." he says wrapping me in his arms and trying to calm me down. "Please don't let her get me Gee." I say and my closet door opens. "TRINITY DAWES, WHAT ARE YOU DOING HUGGING THIN AIR IN YOUR CLOSET!?" Ms Stackhouse booms and I bury my head into Gerard's chest, "don't let her hurt me Gee." I say quietly as Ms Stackhouse grabs my arm pulling me away from Gerard. "You know the drill Trinity. Five lashes for tardiness." Ms Stackhouse grabs her cane and forces me to show my hands, with each lash I scream out in pain, by the third one I yell out,

"GERARD HELP ME!" I wake up covered in sweat another nightmare, Gerard rushes in and pulls me into his arms, "shh, Trin it's okay. I'll never let them hurt you."
