The Boy In The Skeleton Pyjamas.

Happiness?

~Just a quick authors note, (I'll put it in speech marks to make it clear.)~
"I know a few of you guys were asking for a new chapter, you'll be happy to know I went on holiday, and wrote my arse off. :D I wrote loads, I wanted to split it into two chapters, now when shall I release the second chapter do you think? Anyway, I'll leave you with this story, sorry I stopped updating, I used to be allowed to write it on my iPod in English class, but then I was stupid and lost my iPod. So, here it is at last. Thank you for reading, subscribing and commenting. It means a lot to me."

*Frank's POV*
I woke up early to the sound of chirping birds, flooding through the open window. If I listened closer, I also heard the sound of light chatter over some rather dramatic sounding TV.
"But Batman is pretty badass." Someone said, I assumed it was Tula. "Yeah, but Spiderman can do some crazy shit too." Must have been Gerard. I rolled over, groaning at the light from the window, who decided it was a good idea to open it? Ugh.
"Frank, are you awake?"
Shit. I'd been spotted. Just one more hour of sleep, please? I pretended to snore.
"He so is." Gerard laughed. Apparently my foolproof disguise wasn't very good at all. "Frankie, baby!" Gerard crooned, extending the second word, making it seductive. Therefore, hilarious. Also causing Tula to erupt into laughter. "All right, all right, you got me..I'm awake now!"
"You were awake all along, motherfucker." Gerard chuckled.
"Come watch batman with us, Frank!" Tula called out from Gerard's side. I nodded, agreeing to come over. Wait, they were in the same bed. "Ooh, Gee, getting some action?" I teased. Causing them both to blush wildly. "Bet you're just jealous, Frank." Tula challenged, Gerard seemed to have died from embarrassment and amusement.
I grinned. "I most definitely am."
Man, this was fun.
I rose from the bed, about to wander over to them, when a crippling pain hit my chest. Trying to ignore it, I walked forward. It got worse. I couldn't stand for them to see me like this. I never showed any emotion but humour to people. I wasn't gonna change that now. I turned away from them, pretending to make my bed. I was gonna work through the pain. And like that, it was gone. Almost as quick as it had appeared. I felt stupid thinking it had hurt. I guess after the pain is gone, it's hard to imagine it again. I decided to wind Gerard up even further, planting a sloppy kiss on his cheek. He winced and tried to hold back a laugh. "You jealous now? Biatch." I said, mimicking a whiny teen movie. "Of course I am." Tula confirmed, she was enjoying this almost as much as I was. I winked at Gerard and sat in the bed, plonking myself right in the middle of them both.
"'Sup, chicas."

*Gerard's POV*
Sat on the line between humiliation and pure happiness, I let out a loud roar of laughter. I had two teenagers fighting over me. I guess there's a first for everything. As I lay, staring up into the ceiling, I breathed out and thought.
For a brief moment, I had forgotten why I was here. I now remembered.
"Can you let me out please, I need to go to the bathroom." I asked, trying to escape the duvet fort, but Frank was sat on me. He shuffled out of the way, causing Tula to groan as he ended up on top of her. "Sorry!" He said quickly, remembering her operation. "It's cool." she said, breathing out again. I got off the bed, my stomach churning. Thoughts of porridge came back.
"See you in a minute." I managed to squeeze out.

. . . . . . . . . . .

*Tula's POV*

Me and Frank tried to pass time together, we played cards while we gossiped about the nurses personal lives; (Mary had been sneaking off with Martin every night instead of doing the night shift.)

It was really hot, so I was grateful for the flimsy night gown my mum had bought in for me.
"Gerard's been gone a long time." Frank stated. He had.
"Hang on, where did he say he was going?" I asked.
"Toilet, then he scuttled off looking weird." Frank told me.
"Shit."
"What?"
"I made him eat porridge this morning." The realisation hit me with a thud. "Go check on him, Frank."
"Why?" He asked, bemused and confused. Looking a bit panicked.
"Because," I explained. "One, I can't go in the boys toilets. Two, he has anorexia, well, bulimia by the looks of it."
Frank looked a little startled, like a mouse. "What should I do?"
I paused, thinking. "Nothing, I'll go." He objected, stating that I couldn't go into the men's bathroom.
I told him I didn't care, and left the room quietly, trying not to wake the other patients and the snoozing nurse.

. . . . . . . . .

Fast-walking into the corridors, I passed three shops, filled with magazines, drinks, and puzzled visitors. A few smiled pitifully at me. I carried on, looking for the men's toilets, I didn't normally come this way, since the women's were over on the other side of the building. After passing the elderly ward, I found the men's bathroom, standing outside, I called in. "Anyone in there?" I may have been a girl, but I was fully aware that urinals were not in cubicles, and that I could easily walk in and see some unsuspecting old man taking a piss, or even worse, Gerard.
"I'm coming in now!" I shouted loudly. No reply.

Inside the bathroom was exactly what you'd expect it to be. It's stank of bleach and pee. The floors were a grisly grey colour, mirroring that of a yucky council estate back in England I used to live in, before my long lost Grandfather died, leaving us enough money to move to America, choosing New Jersey, to meet his wife, my Grandma.
The walls were a sort of murky white, looking like they may have used to be blue. But after years of not being painted, and the strong cleaning bleach being used everyday, they had faded.
There was also a lot less mirrors here than in the women's. One, rather small circular mirror stood alone above the sinks. I took all of this in very fast, in a few seconds. (As I said, I'm very observant.)
'Okay, Back to the reason I'm here in the first place. Gerard.' I told myself telepathically, whilst inspecting the cubicles. The first one was open, the second, shut. I pushed the second one lightly, but it opened immediately. No one in here. The third was open, and the fourth was the same as the second. They were all empty. I sighed. Where was he?

Walking out was difficult. People gave me weird looks, I tried to ignore them, push past their suspicious thoughts. "Gerard!?" I called out, hoping to make it obvious what I was doing. After wandering back towards my ward and finding an anxious Frank, a sleeping middle age man who was in the visitor's chair, and about three other bored looking teens; none of them being Gerard. I exited the room again, and back the other way, towards the women's toilets, cafe and the stairs.
Not far from the cafe, I began to hear a sound. I didn't recognise it. It was odd, it sounded so vulnerable, yet so masculine too. I realised something.
It was a man crying. It didn't sound odd in my mind, but thinking about it, I'd never, ever heard a man cry. This sound broke my heart. The fact it didn't sound right was enough to make me cry. It wasn't acceptable in society for men to cry. I always found that unfair, why are they forced to keep their emotions in? But this man was crying, he was so genuinely upset he didn't even care. I wanted to find him, and hug him.
Ducking my head under the staircase. I found him.

@TBPAlterEgo
Maybe once I'm finished with Shadows You Left Behind I could re-do this story more realistically, but I hate it at the moment. xD I might do. Thank you! :D
