I'm Okay Now

"Fuck, really!?" I can tell by the tone in Gerard voice that he was concerned about his little brother. Mikey came him a small nod and took his seat at the desk in the front row. "What exactly did she say"
"That we needed a break" he spoke quietly as he kept his eyes glued to the floor trying to hold in any tears that were forming.
"Mikey, taking a break and breaking up are two completely different things" I budded in.
"That what she told me."
"I'm sorry" I apologized, doing my best to act like this is new information.
"It's not your fault" he sighed "maybe this is the best for both of us. After all it's only just a break, right?" He was doing his best to force a smile on his face, but I can tell he's falling apart inside. Every ounce of me wanted to help him in any way I could but I don't know how. I absolutely suck at comforting people, I'm only good at giving hugs. So that's what I did. My arms warped around his small body and in return he rested his head on my shoulder.
"Katy I'm really fine tho" he told me.
"I'm glad to know that you're hanging in there buddy." I told him with a pat on the back. I took my usual seat next to him and we waited in silence for the bell to rang. Before I knew it, the entire classroom was full of students.
"Good morning class!" Gerard began. It's a really good thing I sat in the front of class and I had my back towards everyone because sometimes I can't help staring and smiling at his cuteness.
With a smile all along his face, he slammed his fist on his cask wich caused the entire class to jump in their seats. "School is boring" he said out of nowhere.
"Gerard, are you okay?" A girl from the back of the class called out.
"I'm better than okay." He replied "now let's get to the lesson. What is music?" He continued with the lesson before he gave us time to work on our projects, so basically we get to do whatever we want.
"Hey Katy" I heard an unfimmilyer voice say. I turned to my right and saw one of the schools football players approach me. "How's everything been going?" He asked me as he took a seat on my desk, leaving me no choice but to respond. I dident know his name and I found it a little weird that he knew mine.
"it's going good" I told him. "How do you know my name, I-if you don't mind me asking?"
"Dude, you're one of the most popular and prettiest girls in the whole school, everyone knows your name!"
"Oh" I replied hesitantly "so how are you?"
"Considering I'm talking to one of the most beautiful girls I have ever met, everything is going great!" Did he really just-?
"Thanks!" I replied with a smile, not wanting to be rude.
"So what are you doing today after school?" He continued.
"I'm going shopping with Mikey" I tried to let him down as easy as possible.
"Oh okay. That's fine. Maybe some other time then?" I gave him a polite smile in return as he walked away.
"Dude!" Mikey said to me as soon as he was gone. "You're lucky Gerard didn't see that or he'd be flaming with jealousy" I turned my glance over to Gerard who was in the back of the room helping a student with her homework.
"I wasn't lying when I said you and me were going shopping today after school." I told him.
"Wha? Thanks for the warning Katy!" He whined "what do you even need?"
"I need to get Gerard a gift for our two month annivarsity"
"Why do I have to come!?"
"Because you've known him longer than me and I also have no idea what to get him."
"Are you talking like a bracket or a promise ring?"
"No it's too soon for that. I was thinking about more of a gift."
"I have something in mind."
