Vampires Will Never Hurt You

It Ain't Exactly What You Planned

Gerard’s POV

*1 Week Later*

“Frankie, wake up,” I whispered as I ran my fingers through his hair. His eyelids fluttered open and he smiled at me.

“Morning, Gee,” he said, his voice raspy from sleep.

“Do you know what day it is?” I cooed.

“Halloween?” he smiled.

“Yeah, but your birthday is more important,” I kissed his nose and sat up, grabbing a wrapped box off the bedside table. He ripped the colorful paper off and opened the box to reveal a scrapbook I had been working on for the past month. He flipped through pages and pages of pictures of us, tickets from movies and concerts we went to together, drawings I did of him, and several other things that reminded me of us.

“Gee, I love it. Thank you so much,” he said, pulling me into a hug.

“That’s not all. I have a surprise planned for later,” I smiled knowingly as I got up to shower. He followed me into the bathroom, grabbing his toothbrush as I turned the water on.

“What kind of surprise?”

“If I told you, it wouldn’t be a surprise,” I chuckled.

An hour later Frank and I were in the car which I had filled with everything we would need the previous night.

“Is it a party of some kind?” Frank asked from the passenger seat.

“Would you stop guessing? I wouldn’t tell you even if you got it right,” I chuckled.

“Oh! I know! You’re taking me to Chuck E Cheese’s,” he joked.

“Yes, of course. I’m taking my 25 year old vampire boyfriend to Chuck E Cheese’s. Oh what fun we’ll have,” I said, my voice dripping with sarcasm. He giggled in his seat.

We were silent the rest of the way there, soon driving along a small road through a forest. I turned onto a dirt path that ended in a dead end surrounded by trees and turned the car off.

“Are we going camping?” Frank asked, scrunching his nose up.

“Yeah, but if you don’t want to we can do something else. It’s your birthday, so you pick,” I said when I noticed he wasn’t very excited about this.

“No, Gerard, it’s fine. It’ll be fun.”

“Okay,” I replied, getting out of the car and opening the trunk. I pulled out a bag I had packed for Frank and handed it to him, then grabbed my own and set it on the ground next to the car.

Soon enough the tent was set up and we lay inside, watching the sunset through a mesh window.

“Did you bring anything to eat?” Frank asked, sitting up. I nodded and opened a cooler in the corner of the small tent, pulled out a blood bag and tossed it to him. I waited for him to finish and then crashed my lips against his. He tossed the little plastic bag over his shoulder and put his hands on my waist, my arms around his neck.

I leaned back into my pillow, pulling him with me. He moved his hands under my shirt, running them up and down my chest. He lifted my shirt over my head and his lips attached themselves to my neck, kissing and biting at the soft skin. I moaned when he found my sweet spot and started sucking, leaving a dark purple hickey where his lips were. It healed almost immediately, but it didn’t matter.

I had just removed Frank’s shirt and pants when I heard the sound of bushes ruffling nearby.

“Did you hear that?” I whispered.

“It was just a bunny or something,” he panted into my neck. I tried to ignore it but I kept hearing the same noise over and over again, soon coupled with the sound of footsteps.

“Frank, wait,” I breathed, “I think I hear someone coming.” I climbed out from under the blanket and stood outside the tent, shivering as the cold night air blew over my bare chest. My ears perked up when I heard the sound of a trigger being pulled. I instantly felt an agonizing pain in my chest, and I knew the arrow had just missed my heart. It must have been made of wood, because it hurt like hell.

A short figure emerged from the bushes holding a crossbow, another arrow already loaded.

“Looks like I missed,” the figure spoke. It was a woman’s voice, though her face was cast in shadow and I couldn’t see it. Her voice was familiar; I knew I had heard it many a time before. “I’ll be sure to aim better this time.”

She shot another arrow but it was caught by Frank’s tattooed hand and he threw it to the ground. She went to load the weapon, but it was too late. Frank appeared behind her and had her in a headlock within a second. She clawed at his arm and he looked to me for approval. I gave a slight nod and he twisted her head to the side with a loud crack.

“What the fuck was that?” he asked, his eyes glued to her limp body face down in the dirt.

“That,” I spoke, pulling the arrow out of my chest, “was a vampire hunter.” I suddenly noticed the bright orange color of her hair, putting it together with her voice in my mind and I knew who she was. I felt panic rise inside me and rolled her body over so I could see her face. I looked into her lifeless hazel eyes and felt my stomach turn.

Frank just snapped Hayley’s neck.
