Everything Will Be Ok

chapter 48

After the whole scene I had with Nathan, I stormed into art class for my next period. When I arrived, I realized that I was the first one there. I threw down my book bag in anger and sat down when Gerard entered the classroom. “Hey Taylor.” He greeted, giving me a warm smile. I didn’t respond. By the look of his face I could tell that he knew that I was angry. “What’s wrong?” He asked quietly. “Nathan…I hate him so much!” He gave me a puzzled look. “Why do you hate him?” I crossed my arms, as I saw a line of students begin to come through the door. “I’ll tell you later. I don’t want anyone else to hear.” I whispered. “Alright.” He said, as more and more students fled into the room. “Good morning class!” He cheered. “Good morning Mr. Way.” The students replied in sleepy voices. “Take your seats so I can take roll.” Gerard announced. As he went down the list, I continued to think of how he might react when I tell him about Nathan. I was totally tuned out when Gerard came to my name. “Taylor?” I lifted my head as his glare was directly on me. “Pay attention when I call your name, alright?” He said in his strict teacher voice. “Sorry Mr. Way.” It almost felt unnatural to not call him by his first name.

When he was finally done calling out names, everyone went back to work as he called me up to his desk. A few eyes were on me, but I just did my best to ignore them. “Here, Taylor lets go talk outside. I don’t want to risk anyone hearing us.” He whispered, making it hard for me to hear what he was saying. We then quietly walked out of the classroom, trying not to draw any attention and shut the door behind us. “Alright we’re alone. Now please tell me why you are so mad at Nathan. What did he do?” I hesitated to speak. “Did he hurt you?” He asked in a worried tone. “No…” I mumbled. “Then what did he do?” He asked the second time. I sighed. “Alright, so today he asked me to meet up with him before school. And when I got here, I decided that it would be the right time to break up with him…” I paused. “And what does that have to do with anything?” He asked curiously. “I’m not finished!” I exclaimed. “Ok, so when I did break up with him, he started to get mad. Then, he asked why I was breaking up with him…”I quickly brushed my raven locks out of my face as I continued on. “After that, I told him that the reason why was because I was in love with someone else…” Gerard cut me off. “What did he say after that?” He questioned. “Nathan guessed that it was you that I was in love with…” His eyes widened in horror. “How could he know that though?” I bit my lip nervously. “Well apparently Stacy saw us kissing and she told him.” He placed one hand over his mouth in shock. He was completely speechless. “Wait but I still don’t understand why you’re mad at him.” I continued on. “Well he threatened me saying that if he did find out for sure that we are together, that he would make both of our lives a living hell.” I confessed, my voice cracking. “Oh Taylor…”A tear rolled down my cheek. “I’m scared Gerard. What do you think he means by that?” I asked chocking on sobs. He pulled me into his arms. “I don’t know, but I’ll be here to keep you safe. Alright?” He wiped away a tear from my cheek. “Alright.”
