Bulletproof Love
Summary
How would you feel if you had to live every day as a mindless slave, trapped in your own mind, unable to think for yourself?
What would you do if you had your family ripped from you, your identity changed just to fulfill the crazed ambitions of a madman?
The killjoys, a select team that are fighting for the emancipation of the enslaved humans, risking their lives every day just to bring colour back to a bleak world. After having their lives ruined by Korse, they fled to the desert, living in the outermost zones to escape the control of the psychopathic leader.
Characters
Cherri Cola AKA Bethany Thomas
Cherri was taken from her family at an early age, brought up in the desert by Dr D and Show Pony. It is believe that she, along with Missile Kid, carry the only way to defeat Korse, but only certain people can help her unlock the secret. She drives the van for Dr D and the rest of the rebels. Cherri has a slight crush on one of the killjoys but cannot act upon it for fear of losing them.
Doctor Death Defying
He keeps a watchful eye over the killjoys, sending out frequent radio transmissions across the desert to keep up the hopes of the rebels. Holding a secret close to his heart, Dr D has ulterior motives for wanting to overthrow Korse, his thirst for revenge putting people in danger at a time they need his guidance the most.
Fun Ghoul AKA Frank Iero
Ghoul has always been one to throw a joke out, using the humour to hide his true feelings towards situations. Being the youngest of the killjoys, he feels he constantly has to prove himself to other, to prove that it was right to pick him for the team. Ghoul keeps something buried deep, something that no-one discovers until a pivotal moment in their timeline.
Jet Star AKA Ray Toro
Jet, the fro-d clown of the group. He aims to bring joy to any situation, to make his team smile when they believe that all hope has been lost. Jet keeps the comical persona right up until he is needed, his serious side taking control, scaring people into realising how bad the situation is. Jet protects Kobra and Ghoul like the little brothers he never had. Jet is a big teddy bear at heart.
Kobra Kid AKA Mikey Way
He is the quiet one in the group, his tactical and battle skills making up for that. Refusing to show any emotion and keeping a strict poker face at all times if Kobra's way of dealing with the situation he was thrown into. Kobra wants to please his brother, taking any missions he can to prove that he is worth something to the team. Korba longs for a normal life.
Korse
A heartless, psychopathic madman with a desire to taste blood. He controls the whole of Battery City and the surrounding zones, inducing fear in people before masking it with strict brainwashing. He aims to control everyone, even the killjoys. When people double cross him or stand against him, they soon learn what it means to feel pain.
Missile Kid
Her true name is unknown to everyone and no matter how hard she tries, Missile cannot remember. Taken under the wings of the Killjoys during a raid, she longs to be the same as them, sneaking after Poison and the gang on missions that could potentially endanger them all. Missile is keeping one secret from everyone, including Dr D. She longs to fit in and have a proper childhood.
Party Poison AKA Gerard Way
Poison took on the role of looking after his younger brother from the moment his parents were taken by the S/C/A/R/E/C/R/O/W division. He was tasked with leading the Killjoys and protecting the rebels and outlaws. All Poison wants to see is the people he cares about safe, to see colour returned to the drab Battery City, to see life returned to normality.
Show Pony AKA Damon McAlister
He is Dr D's right hand man, always there when he needs assistance and providing the tunes for the radio waves. He has a constant fear of being caught so constantly wear skates to allow for a speedy escape, the helmet hiding his true identity. The only person to see Show without his helmet on wants to kill him slowly, painfully. Show will do anything it takes to protect the ones he cares about.
