"Oh, um hi." I said as she sat on the door of my bed.

"I've tried to talk to you a few times through your pregnancy, but Gerard said you didn't want to. I thought when we met we got along swimmingly."

"We did, and I do like you it's just, I didn't think you'd like the pregnant me." I confessed.

"Darling, your carrying my grand baby, I could never not like you. I may have been a little disappointed my oldest son is becoming a father under the age 20, but I'm also happy."

"Oh,"

"I also understand your giving away your rights as a parent,"

"Yes."

"Are you sure you want to do that."

"Yes, I have made it clear to Gerard and my mother of what I want to do."

"Well, alright. I can't change your mind, but I can offer, come over to see your baby any time you feel like you want to, Gerard won't mind. You are it's mother."

"The mother of the child is the one who raises the child, I'm nothing more than it's surrogate mother, Gerard will be doing the hard work."

"You will still be very important to that baby." She said then rubbed my stomach a bit.

"Hey, look I'm sorry about-" Gerard started as he came back in the room, he stopped when he saw his mom, "mom! What are you doing here?" He asked.

"Just saying hello to the mother of my grand baby." She said then patted my hand then walked away.

"What did she say?"

"That I am the mother of this baby, and how important I am to this baby." I said and leaned my head back against the bed I was in, I felt tears stinging in my eyes.

"Besides you and Frank, I don't want anyone in here." I told him.

"Even your mother?"

"Yes. I don't want anyone here." I told them.

"Ok," he said then came over to my bed.

We didn't say anything we just sat there. When I got my next contraction, all of the tears that were built up in my eyes released and Gerard's hand got squeezed even harder, but he didn't complain which I valued.

"Did you still want an epidural?" Gee asked me.

"No, I'll deal with the pain." I told him.

And for the next 11 hours that's what I did. Gerard kept his word and only he and Frank were in the same room as me. Apparently his mother had wanted to talk to me again but Gee said no, I was kinda happy about that. When my contractions were coming at a non-stop, that's when the doctor told me I was ready.

"Alright," he said as he say in front of my legs. Gerard had already changed into those blue scrubs with a matching face mask, "I need you to start pushing,"

I couldn't help but yell a bit as I pushed. Gerard's eyes were shut and he looked like he was in pain from me squeezing so hard.

I stopped pushing when the doctor told me to stop, and I started when he told me push. It was one of the most painful things in my life.

"Okay heads almost out, one more big push and well have a new baby."

One big push later Gerard and I heard the cries of the new born baby and all my pain was gone.

"It's a girl!" The doctor said holding her put for Gerard and I to see, I didn't look. I looked away.

"Alright dad, come here and cut the umbilical cord." Gerard cut the cord and the doctor put the screaming baby in his arms.

"Ok dad go ahead and take the baby to the nursery."

"Thank you," Gerard whispered to me then left the room.

When I was sure he was out of earshot, I started to cry my eyes out.
