The Cameras Pull You Right Back Down

Summary

Delilah Tesla has been attending Clearedge High for only a couple of months and she's already become known as a dork, a weirdo and the teachers pet.

Yeah, things aren't easy when you'd rather spend your time in a darkroom. There's a chance of that all changing when she gets an offer from the most popular girl in school.
Take a couple of snaps of the photography teacher Mr Way and in return get a boost in popularity and a neat five grand.

Add a competition seeking photographers and it's the perfect reason to create a teacher/student duo with the chance of winning a scholarship and a contract that'll give Delilah a well paying job with a famous magazine...and there's still the matter of her conscience demanding she admit that to get the money she needs to catch him at his most candid, which means having to get as close as possible.

That can't be too hard when you're the teachers pet but things might get a little more complicated than expected when genuine emotions get involved.

Characters

Abby Holloway

Abby Holloway

Comes from a nice yet better off family with a reputation for being art collectors and critics. Despite her easy and kind upbringing Abby is the kind of girl that would much rather pick on others but regardless of her wealthy family, good looks and snippy attitude she's still second banana to June Cotter. __________________________________________________________________ "Why am I the only one carrying all the weight around here because I try and I try to be like you but nobody cares!"

Daniella (Ella) Jackson

Daniella (Ella) Jackson

Most of the students at Clearedge have trouble figuring out who she is aside from a woman who spends a lot of time stopping by Mr. Way's classroom. Ella enjoys remaining a mystery to everyone and likes to flirt with the teen boys on her way out of the school. Will occasionally stop for long enough to have a conversation with a student or wave at a teacher but doesn't like to linger for long. _________________________________________________________________ "Sometimes I'd look at myself in the mirror and say 'see that Ella, that's a winner; you are a winner'. I don't suppose you'd know what that's like, of course you wouldn't."

Delilah Tesla

Delilah Tesla

A dork, weirdo and teachers pet. Keeps to herself as much as possible and is considered to be very shy but it's mainly because she's bad at socializing. Photography's her best subject and she's always worried she won't be able to graduate because of how often she fails her other classes. Has seen her fair share of foster homes after being abandoned as a child but tries to think of things from a glass half-full perspective as much as possible. Reluctantly agrees to a deal that she believes goes against all her morels and because of it finds the first friend she's ever had in her photography teacher. __________________________________________________________________ "I don't suppose you'd know the cure for a broken heart would you?"

June Cotter

June Cotter

Queen bee of the high school and leader of The Perfect Ten. Although popular isn't necessarily the worst person in the world and has the occasional bouts of niceness. Doesn't truly love or care for anyone but herself although it seems like she might change her mind sometimes. Likes to make fun of Delilah but at the same time almost considers her a friend. ________________________________________________________________ "I'd never thought it would be you to claim the title of baddest girl in school."

Merrill Vanover

Merrill Vanover

A girl who is typically considered a part of 'the bad crowd' thanks to her unwillingness to listen and determination to make a mockery of teachers whenever possible but is actually a really nice person who just wants to make friends. Loves sports and is on the schools baseball, swimming and tennis teams. ______________________________________________________________ "Come on, dude. I didn't want to get blood on my clothes today."

Mr. Gerard Way

Mr. Gerard Way

The photography teacher who's so nice he often is considered a walkover by most of the school. Has a habit of drinking coffee, smoking the occasional cigarette (much to the disagreement of most of his family) and handing out advice. Gets along best with Delilah since she's quiet and reminds him of what he was like in high school. Always wants to help everyone even if they don't want help and loves to spend most of his time in the local art gallery. ______________________________________________________________________ "Sometimes I just think it's easier to pretend that everything is just a rehearsal and if I screw up I get a do-over."
