Coffee Beans

Jawline

**April's POV**
Please, please keep on going. Don't you dare pull away! His arms were wrapped around the perfect spot on my back. I never noticed how much taller Gerard was than me, I was on my toes, plus he had to lift me a bit. I could feel his hair resting on one side of my face. I lifted one hand off of his jacket and touched his jaw. As I did so, he stopped being passionate and pulled away slowly.
He stared at me with those dreamy hazel eyes, "Oh God, I'm sorry..."
I shook my head, "Don't be."
"No, no, I should have asked."
"What? Just say, 'Hey April! can I wrap my arms around you and kiss you for a full twenty seconds?'?"
Gerard smiled at himself, "You got a point." He leaned in and kissed me again, this time with numerous small kisses. He pulled away and smiled at me, "Drunk Gerard doesn't talk so crazy after all."
I half giggled, "What are the best books in the store?" He let go of my waist and disappeared behind a light wooden shelf, searching through multiple comic series' and picking out about two before coming back to the section we were just grazing in. He pulled off two more comics from the shelf and handed the stack to me.
"These are my personal favorites." He smiled.
I smiled back and found a spot in front of the counter and sat down with the books. He took off his jacket and sat down beside me, letting me lean on his shoulder. I opened the first comic. It was called The Umbrella Academy. The cover looked so interesting. It seemed like a post-apocalyptic plot. It looked so surreal. I opened it up to the first page. Oh my God, the drawings were memorizing.

We sat there, for hours, reading this comic. Gerard would occasionally point of bits to pay attention to and some of his favorite drawings in the chapters. He seemed a lot happier in his shop, surrounded by all of these stories. Every book had a whole new world inside of it, all you had to do is turn the page. I was submerged in this story.

By the time we finished two comics, it was already getting dark. My stomach growled and snapped me out of reading. I straightened my back and cracked my spine. "Want to get some food? I'll pay" I smiled.
Gerard shook his head, I'm not going to let you pay for my food. You've already given me so much."
I placed my hand on his cheek, "I'm fucking paying."
He rolled his eyes, "Fiiiiine."

He got to his feet and helped me up. I was confused to why nobody came into the shop. It was lovely! He lead me out and locked the door behind. He began int he direction of the diner, but I pulled him back. There was no way in hell I was going tot he diner on my day off. I tugged on his sleeve, "I think we can go somewhere else." I smiled.
He looked at me in question, "Where to?"
Without and answer I grabbed his hand and lead him further and further into the neighborhood. After walking a couple of blocks, we found ourselves at a different diner. It had a stage with an open mic and waitresses dressed in white collared shirts and black vests. The lights were low and a lady on the stage was wearing a tight red dress that barely reached her crotch.

We were shown to our table. A little one with a candle sitting on a dish in the middle. We sat down and stared at each other for a moment before I struck up the conversation.
"What is the most daring thing you've ever done?" I said running my finger around the rim of my water glass.
"Well, I was 24 at the time. I kissed a beautiful girl in the middle of a comic book shop." He smiled. "What about you?" He asked, biting his lip.
"I brought a drunk guy, I barely knew, into my parent's house, and took care of him before kissing in the middle of a comic book shop." I giggled.

The waiter came around to our table. He had an awkward voice, "What can I get you two?"
Gerard ordered for me. "Caesar salad for the lady, calamari for me, and a bottle of red wine." He smiled and collected the menus.
"Right away" the mane smiled.
"He has got some nice hair." I said when he walked away.
"Yeah, that's my buddy, Ray." He said smiling in the direction the man left.
"Does he know you're divorced and currently dating a girl you just met two days ago?" I smiled
Gerard just shook his head and laughed.
