Thick As Thieves [Mikey Way]

Chapter Six

"Bled dry. A bullet Never lies. Look into my eyes, Would I lie to you?"

The alleyway I find myself lying in is dark and damp.
It's quiet.
There's not a soul around.
Not a sound but the voice in my head.

"Stained grave. Do you feel the same way. Tears flood from our eyes."

What does it mean?
The same words.
Over and over again.

"Would I die for you?"

The voice somehow feels not only in my head, but all around me.
How can that be?
I can't answer that.

"Help me…"

The quiet echoing voice changes to a familiar voice.
I can't quite place it though.
I know it.
That’s for sure.
Its oddly comforting…

"Drew… Help me."

It becomes more urgent and I pull myself into sitting position, looking around.
It's still too dark.

"Please! HELP!"

It's getting closer and closer.
I look around desperately.

I open my mouth to call back but no sound comes out, no matter how hard I try.

"Drew please! I need you!"

It's beginning to weaken and I try to scream back but, still, nothing.
Not a sound.
Not a peep.
Not a whisper.
Nothing.

"Please…"

Its barely a whisper now.

"Help."

This time, its right in my ear.

I pull myself to my feel and my head snaps around.
Its dark.
I can't see a thing.

Even so, I run blindly thorough the darkness.
It's almost like it never ends.

The familiar cries for help stop and the voice is replaced with its original form.

"Watch them fall…"

I still don’t understand!
What does this mean?
I've heard it before.
Where though?!

"Thick as thieves…"

I eventually stop running and fall to my knees, panting and wheezing.

I look up, and my eyes meet a pair of blazing red ones staring back at me.
It's almost hypnotizing.
I can't look away.
I can't move.
I'm frozen.

"As I lay…"

They get closer and closer until I feel someone's cold breath on my lips.

"I think I'm flatlining."

Time freezes.
Everything stops.
I stare into those blood red eyes, frozen in my spot.

It all kinda happens in a blur.

There's me, and four other guys.
One is holding my hand.

I see Allli.
I see Tully.

I see Vampyres.

I try to scream, shaking my head violently to get the images out of my head.
But, once again, no noise comes out.

I pull myself up and I force myself to keep running as far away from the voice as I can, but it's in my head.
You can't run from your mind.

I accept defeat, falling to the ground again.
This time, I actually listen to what the voice has to say.

"Watch them fall
To their knees
As I lay
I think I'm flat-lining

Watch them fall
Thick as thieves
As I lay
I think I'm flat-lining."

What does that mean?

The voice in suddenly gone and an ear-splitting cry rips through the air.

I throw my hands over my ears and scream, and this time, make a sound.

Its suddenly light,

I can see it all now.

Blood…

Lots of blood…

Some of it human….

Some of it vampire….

"I love you Drew."

The voice whispers again, but it's not the voice that chants the poem.
It’s the familiar one.
I know it from somewhere.

That one line echoes around my head while my mind desperately tries to figure out who it is.
Nothing happens though.
Just as I close my eyes to give my brain the sweet relief it needs, one word sings me to sleep.

Mikey…

That's just so cool.
