Thick As Thieves [Mikey Way]

Chapter Seventeen

Mikey’s POV
I was going through the drawers in the study about three hours after I woke up and found that Drew wasn’t there.
I wasn’t going through it for any reason in particular.
Just for the sake of it.
There was a knock on the door and I quickly stood up, turning to the door.
“Hey. What are you doing?” Drew asked, standing in the doorframe.
I quickly shut the drawer and looked at her.
“nothing!” I said probably a bit too quickly.
She just chuckled and shook her head.
“I’m not gonna ask. Anyway, follow me. I want to show you something.” She said and walked down the hall.
I quickly followed, probably resembling an overly attached lap-dog while trying to catch up.
She led me down a flight of stairs to a dark but sweet-smelling room.
She flicked a switch and a dim light turned on over-head.
I looked around then at her.
She chuckled.
“My father collected wine. He didn’t drink though.” She said, walking right into the huge wine cellar.
I, of course, followed her.
She walked over to a wall and ran her fingers over the old wooden thing holding at least 20 bottles of really old looking wine.
She picked out a bottle and two expensive-looking but dusty crystal glasses before leading me back up to our room.
I followed her with absolutely no question.
We sat on the bed and she poured me a glass before herself.
I took a sip and smiled at her.
It was pretty fucking good.
She smiled and sighed happily.
“I used to wonder what this shit tasted like. I mean, my mom always drinking it. My father collected it, as you can see. But he never touched the stuff. Seemed a bit of a waste to me…” She said, taking another sip.
Another thing I noticed about this particular bottle of wine was that it only took me two glasses to start getting a little dizzy.
She smiled, filling my glass again.
I thought about stopping her, but I decided to just have a little fun.
Plus, neither of us were entirely wasted yet.
“So, your brother told me something interesting this morning.” She said and I looked at her.
“And what was that?” I asked and she smiled slightly, looking down at her glass.
“That you loved me…” She said quietly.
I froze up and I felt my cheeks heat up quickly.
I wanted to fucking kill him for that.
I quickly took another sip of wine to avoid looking at her.
She just watched me for a minute before breaking the silence.
“Is it true?” She asked, setting her half-filled glass on the nightstand and watching me closely.
“I, uh, I—“I cut myself off and bit my lip.
I looked down and bit my lip, nodding.
Without looking up at her, I felt her take my empty glass out of my hand and I heard her set it down.
She put her two fingers under my chin and lifted my head up so I was looking at her.
Slowly, she leaned in and pressed her lips to mine.
Surprised at first, I gently kissed her back.
She moved one hand up and cupped my face with it and I moved one of my hands to the back of her neck.
Her lips were soft and I could taste the sweet red wine that we were drinking on them.
It was nice.
She slowly pulled away a little bit later and bit her lip, smiling.
I think the best part was that we were both still at least partly sober.
She smiled at me and glanced down at her other hand, blushing.
I smiled stupidly and kissed her cheek.
“I really do, Drew. I love you…” I whispered.
“I love you too, Mikey.” She said.
Hearing that honestly gave me butterflies.
She was so fucking amazing.
Beautiful, smart, powerful, sexy, sweet, funny.
She was everything.
And I know I hadn’t known her long, but I really did love her.
And apparently she felt the same way.
Or at least to an extent.
I smiled and pulled the small, frail and beautiful girl onto my lap, kissing her passionately.
She smiled and wrapped her arms around my neck while mine went around her waist.
She tilted her head a little more, deepening our kiss and I tilted mine slightly to deepen it further.
All on its own, my tongue grazed her bottom lip and she smiled against mine slightly, parting her lips and allowing me entry.
I slid my tongue in her mouth gently and her hands played with my hair.
I let my hands travel up the back of her shirt but only staying at the small of her back.
Her skin was warm on mine and it felt nice.
Her lips suddenly abandoned mine and softly made their way down my neck.
She gently kissed my neck and I closed my eyes, letting out a low moan as her angelic lips made their way to my collarbone.
I gently moved one hand to her shoulder, pushing her gently down onto the bed and putting my hands either side of her head to hold myself up while I hovered over her.
She propped herself up on her elbows and met my lips again.
That night was the first real time I had been able to admit what I felt.
Not only to Drew, but also to myself.
I had been trying to desperately to stop feeling the way I did about her but I couldn’t.
My feelings just wouldn’t go away.
Now I know why.
It’s not just a crush.
I love her.
I love her.
I loved her.
I loved her.
