Just another Killjoy

I jumped onto the bouncy couch positioned at the far wall of the diner and relaxed. I closed my eyes and sighed.

Ghoul's voice was echoing through the house. "It was like Bam! Bam! and then she just got in and it was cool! You should have been there!" He bragged. I chuckled to myself and then tried to hear for any other noises. "What's her name?" a deep velvety voice said.

"Midnight blood" Ghoul said. "Is she here? I would like to meet this legendary girl you speak of" The deep voice said. I kept in the same relaxed position, I was way too lazy to get up and look at least presentable for this mystery voice.

I heard the sounds of boots hitting wood. "Midnight! I would like for you to meet someone" I opened my eyes and met sunglass covered ones. Then my eyes widened, that can't be... No fucking way. "Uncle?" I stood up immediately. "Madeline?" His voice got louder. I ran to him and embraced him. "Oh god, it's been so long! I thought you were ghosted!" I cried into his shoulder. His arms tightened and he lifted me off the ground.

Ghoul coughed and my uncle let me go. He still had his long black hair and what I called 'chin fluff'. "Well, I was going to say that this is Dr. Death Defying but whatever" Ghoul shrugged but had a grin on his face. "Who said Uncle?" Jet ran up the stairs. "Me" I smiled and felt my eyes get watery. I punched my uncle in the arm and felt a tear roll down my cheek.

"Wait, Dr. D is your uncle?" Jet asked with a look of shock on his face. I nodded furiously and grinned. "Who is Dr. D's uncle?" Kobra walked into the room with a packet of chips. "Not uncle. Midnight's uncle is Dr. D" Ghoul laughed. Party walked into the room when ghoul said it and he looked shocked. I wiped my face and my uncle put a hand on my shoulder.

"How has the zones been treating you kiddo?" He said when we sat on the couch. "It's been pretty good. I've been in zone 8 for a while" I nodded and got comfy on the bouncy couch. "Has... Korse found you yet?" He asked. I shook my head "Even though I go into the city every day" I chuckled and sighed. "Don't be too reckless kid. I know you can handle yourself pretty damn well, but you never know when he could strike and capture you when you go back into that city" he grabbed the bottle of water that was next to the couch and gulped half of it down. "Thirsty much?" I giggled. He nodded wildly and made me laugh more.

"Have the fabulous killjoys been treating you alright?" He sat back a bit and rested his arm on the back of the couch. "More like have I?" I laughed before continuing "Yeah, they've been pretty snazzy" I looked up at my uncle and he raised his eyebrows. "Snazzy?" "It means cool" I answered.

We sat like that for hours, just catching up on what we missed with each other's lives. Then Dr. D got up, "I better getting going sweetie pie, It's late and show pony is going to be pissed if I don't get back" He sighed and rubbed his head. I nodded and got up as well.

I gave him a hug and he kissed the top of my head. "Be safe kid" He grabbed my cheek and wiggled it. "So long and good night" I said after laughing. "So long and good night... I like that. Can I keep it?" He asked before walking out the door. "Of course you can, cool cat" He spun on the spot and walked out. I chuckled to myself and remembered the little thing we made up. I told him that whenever I said 'Cool cat', He had to dance. I heard the engine of a car roar to life before disappearing.

I sighed to myself, a grin still on my face as I went to the bathroom. I walked in without knocking and saw a naked Party poison in the shower. I looked at his bum and giggled. I closed the door and walked to the basin. I washed my face and dried it. Reaction starts in 3...2...1. "MIDNIGHT! W-WHAT are you doing in here!" He squealed and faced the wall. I laughed hysterically. "Nice ass" I said before walking out the door.

Kobra ran out of the room on the right. "What was that?" He said with panic in his voice. "That my friend, is the mating call of a zebra" I laughed and he frowned. "I don't get what your saying" He asked in a confused tone. "Ask Party, he'll know what I mean" I wiggled my eyebrows and strutted to my room. Once I closed the door I burst into laughter. I took my jeans off and shirt and put my AC/DC shirt on from yesterday.

I got into bed and wrapped myself in the comfy material laid on the bed. I took a deep breath and heard heavy footsteps coming to my room. I closed my eyes and parted my lips a little, to put on the look that I was asleep. The door opened wide and hit the wall. "Wh- oh shit" Party stopped himself from shouting and whispered. I heard him walk deeper into the room and felt a hand brush my hair behind my ear. I thought that he left until I felt a pair of lips touch my forehead. "Sweet dreams" he whispered and then soft footsteps left my room and a 'click' as he closed my door.

I rolled onto my back and opened my eyes. I felt a blush creep onto my cheeks. I touched my forehead and faintly smiled. I think I like Party. Holy shit, I have feelings for another human being in a relationship way. This is different. I closed my eyes and fell into a deep sleep.

"Who do you think you are" I was in a dark room and heard a voice echo through the darkness. "Causing trouble, making a mess" I shivered as the voice came closer to me.

"Didn't you think I would find you?" The voice got closer. I tried to get up only to be pushed back into the chair I was sitting on. "Uh. Uh. Uh. You're not getting away that easily" The voice came from in front of me.

"Who are you!?" I screamed into the darkness. "Why don't you take a look for youself?" The voice came from infront of me again. Then the darkness disappeared and a bright line was shining in my face. I shielded my eyes from the light and then looked up.

"I found you Madeline!" It was Korse. I screamed and woke up. I shivered and wiped my face. I was covered in sweat. I lifted my shirt up and wiped my neck and arms. I got up and snatched my bag up from the ground and looked in the front pocket. I found a hair band and tied my hair up into a ponytail. I got the pair of donut printed shorts that I put in my bag and stepped into them. I couldn't be bothered putting my jeans on. I walked into the kitchen and saw that the sun was just coming up.

I found a coffee machine and turned it on. I rubbed my face again while patiently waiting for the coffee to be made. When a quiet 'ding' sound went off, I grabbed a cup and poured the hot coffee into it. I took a sip and noticed the Battery city times on the bench. "Whatever" I muttered and sat on a stool while flipping through the pages. My eyes landed on an article that was on page 19. I saw a photo of the guys like the one I handed to that Drac.

I read the print below it and laughed a little. So they seriously were called 'The fabulous killjoys'. I couldn't take the article seriously. The writer was obviously trying to be serious but when you write 'Fabulous', it kind of doesn't work out. I chuckled and took another mouthful of the coffee. I finished reading the newspaper and moved to the bouncy couch. That shall always be my name for that couch.

I drank the rest of my coffee and felt the buzz of caffeine kick in. I put my legs up on the other side of the couch and crossed my arms over my chest. My eyes opened wide and I remembered my iPod. MUSIC! I ran to my bag and wrapped my fingers around the precious device. I went to the kitchen and opened the box that contained the solar powered charger.
I ran outside and plugged my iPod in, I put it in the sunlight and squealed. Now all I have to do is wait and 'bob's your uncle'.

I breathed in with content and went back inside, closing the door behind me. When I sat on the bouncy couch I heard the sound of someone coming up the stairs. I waited and saw a drowsy looking Party stumble into the kitchen. His red hair was sticking up in every direction possible. He musn't have noticed me yet so I kept quiet and adjusted my shirt.

A tiny yawn came from Party and I saw him scratch his head. He sniffed and popped one of the cabinets open and pulled a cup out of it. The little 'ding' went off. "Yay" He murmured in a little excited voice. I laughed silently so he wouldn't hear and laid back on the couch. "Holy- fuck you scared me" He groaned in a sleepy voice. I smirked and waved. "Good morning to you to" I chuckled.

He sat on the bouncy couch beside me and sipped his coffee. He closed his eyes and looked like he was heaven. "Oh how I love caffeine" He murmured as he took another mothful. I smiled and looked at my hands. "Sorry if I embarassed you last night" I mentioned and he nearly choked. "Please don't die!" I patted him on the back and he coughed. "I'm alright" He squeaked and sipped on his drink. I waited for him to say something and he coughed again. "It's okay I was just surprised to see you in the- uh.. same room as me, with you know..." He blushed a little. "With you being naked?" I finished his sentence and he choked on the liquid again.

I patted him on the back and laughed as he coughed roughly. His cheeks were bright red and he tried to hide his face in his hair as he coughed. I bit my lip and got up. I had a craving for a cigarette, and a lot of other things that had to do with lips and Party. I got a new one out of the packet in my motorbike and ignored the fact that my jacket had an unfinished one in it. I lit it up and took a drag. I heard someone run up the stairs.

A wild ghoul appeared. He went to the cupboard and grabbed a box of what looked like cereal. "Good morning!" He shouted. "Someone's cheery today" I said to him and watched as he poured the cereal into a bowl and ate it dry. "Well, we finally got good food. What's not to be happy about?" He shrugged and grinned at me while plopping a colourful piece of cereal into his mouth. I shook my head and took another drag. "Hey Ghoul, Do you like magic tricks?" I asked and blew the smoke out. He nodded furiously and leaned on the bench.

I walked closer to him and took another drag of my cigarette. I puffed a full circle out and flipped my middle finger and waved it in the middle. He laughed and nodded, "Bravo! Bravo!" He clapped. I bowed and blew out the rest of the smoke from my lungs. I heard a quiet laugh come from Party. "Thank you! Thank you! I call that one 'Fuck you through a circle'" I said in an exaggerated presenter's voice.

After a couple of minutes of quiet chatter I decided it was time to get ready. "I'm going to get dressed" I announced and went to my room. I got changed into my purple jeans and Nirvana shirt. I need to wash these clothes tonight. I put my lipstick and mask on and went into the kitchen to see Jet and kobra with full mouths. I smiled and walked to my motorbike, I grabbed my ray gun from next to the door and put it into the holster that I wrapped around the motorcycle. "I'll be back later-" I got cut off by Party. "Hey, Where do you think your going?" He asked as he jogged to where I was. I kicked the stand on it back and rolled it out the door. Party followed me and stopped me. "Where are you going?" He repeated. "Out" I shrugged and grabbed my helmet that was hanging from one of the handles on the bike.

He snatched it off me. "I'm coming with you" He said and took my keys. "Yo-urh. Fine okay" I muttered. He ran back inside and ten minutes later he came back with his mask on. I smiled and hopped on the bike. He handed me the helmet and I laughed. "You wear it" I said and he hesitated before putting it on his head. He sat behind me on the bike and loosely held my waist. I rolled my eyes and grabbed his arms, I tightened them around me and he flinched. "You better hold on tight honey" I said.

I pushed the key in the ignition and revved the engine. Jet, Kobra and Ghoul came out of the Diner and I saluted to them. Jet saluted back and Ghoul waved. "Keep him safe! He hasn't been on a motorbike before" Kobra shouted and waved. I chuckled and revved once more. I did a bit of a burn out and sped off. A bunch of sand flew up behind us and I grinned madly. We were flying towards Zone 8. I heard Party squeal a little and felt his arms shaking. He was tense and I could feel his heart pounding on my back.

I rested one of my hands on one of his that were tightened around me. I was driving with only hand and Party gasped. I slowed down a bit and put both hands on the handles. "Relax, Party" I said soothingly to him. He stopped tensing and snuggled a little into my back. I chuckled to myself and slowed down a lot more when I found my little shack. I kicked the stand down waited for Party to get off. He slipped off and I threw my leg over it. I straightened my jacket and Party took the helmet off. I snatched the ray gun from it's holster and went inside. When the coast was clear I went to my wardrobe.

I got the other black backpack from the corner of the wardrobe and filled it with all my clothes, I grabbed the picture of my family and put that in the back of my pocket. When I got everything I did one more look over and sighed. Party looked around and then faced me.

"Was this where you lived?" He asked. "Yeah, ever since I was 15" I replied and then walked out of the shack, Party followed me and I kicked the door closed. "Good bye" I mumbled to the shack and then gave the back pack to him. He put it on his back and then strapped the helmet on. "Remember to relax, okay?" I told him as he got on the bike behind me once more. He nodded and wrapped his arms around me. I smiled and zoomed off to zone 6.
