Desolation Row

So If You Love Me Let Me Go

The boys quickly made their way through the corridors of the building, lights flickering above their heads as they tried to find a way out. “Come on Frank just hold on” Gerard soothed as he and Pete continued to drag Frank along with them. He spat out more blood onto the floor, steadying himself as he continued to try and walk out of here.

“IM COMING FOR YOU, YOU FUCKING CUNT” a voice bellowed down the corridor. A loud thud quickly followed, which was followed by another and another, quickly following them down the corridor. “Hurry!” Patrick cried as they ran for the double doors ahead of them. Patrick shoved them open, the doors flung out, hitting the walls as the boys passed through them. They stood in the centre of a crossroad, unsure of whether to go left, right or straight ahead. “What do we do?” Gerard said, his eyes filled with worry as he stared at Patrick, half hoping that he would know the way out. He didn’t want Frank to die here; he didn’t want anyone to die here for that matter. Patrick eyes darted around, unsure of what to think. He didn’t know where they were going, let alone if they were even heading for the exit. He hung his head low, shaking his head as he struggled to look at his friends. “We’ll have to split up” He suggested.

The boys looked at one another, wincing as another loud thud echoed from behind them; closer this time. “He’s right, we’ll have more chance of escaping if we do” Frank’s croaked, clinging onto Gerard as he spoke. “We can’t leave you like this” Pete said uncertainly, staring down at his dishevelled friend. Frank pushed him away, beckoning at the corridor closest to Patrick and Pete. “You two take the left one, me and Gee will go right” He said, nudging Gerard who began walking away from them. The two boys stood there for a moment, watching their friends leave them alone in the flickering lights. “GO NOW” Frank shouted, forcing the boys to turn and run.

The boys parted ways, listening in fear as the thuds grew louder. Jane prowled through the building, blood dripping down her head as she limped through the building. She held a small mallet in her hand, swinging against the wall as she walked. “COME BACK HERE AND TAKE YOUR MEDICINE” she roared, her eyes narrowing as she swung the mallet against the wall. She reached the double doors, shoving them open and stood in the centre of the crossroad. She listened. The building was silent. She turned her head, a sinister grin spreading across her face as she walked down one of the corridors; silently following her victims.

“Leave me here!” Frank cried, trying to push Gerard away as they moved through the building. Gerard clung to his boyfriend’s shirt, hauling him through the building. “I’m not leaving you” He cried, trying to pick up the pace. Frank groaned, painfully hauling his body through the winding corridors.

As they walked, Gerard spotted something up ahead; a small white door. “Frank look” He said, stopping for a moment. Frank raised his head, smiling as he saw the door. They quickly made their way towards the door, a glimmer of hope in their eyes as they walked. “I told you we’d be ok” Gerard said, laughing half heartedly. Frank nudged him; he hated admitting he was right. Gerard pushed open the door and found themselves inside a women’s bathroom. He sat Frank down against one of the stalls and rushed over to the taps; filling his hands with water as he offered Frank a drink. Frank sipped it, the world spinning as he leaned back against the cold wood of the stall; closing his eyes. “Frank stay with me” Gerard said, slapping him gently around the face. His eyes fluttered open, hearing the worry in Gerard’s voice. He smiled. “I’m still here” He said, laughing to himself only for it to quickly turn into a loud and terrifying cough. He held his hand to his mouth, seeing the blood on his hand as he moved it away.

“There has to be a fire exit or something around here” Gerard said, thinking aloud as he scrambled to his feet, looking around the bathroom. Frank nodded, pushing his hair out of his eyes. “There will be, why don’t you go and look for it” Frank suggested, his voice growing faint. Gerard shook his head, opening his mouth to speak before he was quickly cut off. “If you go by yourself, you’ll find it quicker. You’ll come back for me right?” Frank continued, smiling up at his boyfriend. Gerard nodded uncertainly; there was something about Frank, something in his voice and his smile which was... different; something unsettling. He knelt down in front of him, cupping his face with his hand. “I’ll come back for you” He said quietly, kissing him on the forehead as the quickly got up and started towards the door.

“Gerard?” Frank called out

He quickly turned round, watching Frank slump against the stall wall. It broke his heart to see him like this.

“I love you” Frank said, smiling softly.

Gerard smiled, pulling the door open. “I love you too.... I’ll come back for you I promise” He replied, disappearing out of the room.

Frank sighed, closing his eyes. The world around him began to fade away as he fell into a deep sleep.

Patrick and Pete ran through the buildings, making random turns every so often. They were lost. They had no idea where they were let alone where they were going. There seemed to be no rooms at all in this building, no windows or anything. Suddenly Patrick stopped, breathing heavily as he bent over, resting his hands on his knees. “I can’t... I can’t do this. We’re trapped in here” He spluttered, trying to catch his breath. Pete stopped, turning back and placing a hand on his boyfriends shoulder. “Patrick please, we need to get out of here” He replied, his eyes filled with terror as he spoke.

Patrick straightened up, opening his mouth to speak when something caught his eye. A thin smile crept upon his face as he saw a fire escape plan on the far side of the corridor. He took him by the hand and quickly walked over to it. Pete laughed, throwing his arm around Patrick and kissing him hard on the head. “You fucking genius” He cried, hugging him tight as he read the instructions. “It’s only around the corner” Patrick said, pulling it off the wall as they began to walking towards the exit.

“Hello again” Jane purred, her fingers curling around the mallet as she called out to her victim. Gerard quickly turned around, his heart jumping into his throat as he stared back at her in fear. “You took a wrong turn my friend, big mistake” she growled, a crazed smile spreading across her face as she slowly made her way towards him. Gerard ran, his heart pounding as he raced down the corridor; listening to her laugh menacingly behind him. “There’s no way out from here Gee-Gee” She called out sweetly. Gerard made a sharp turn, trying to ignore her voice. He stopped suddenly; his heart sank as he saw a dead end straight ahead. He glanced up the other end of the corridor only to find that too was a dead end. He closed his eyes, listening as Jane’s footsteps shuffled behind him, stopping a few feet away from him. Gerard turned to face her, his hands curled into fists.

Jane smiled, suddenly throwing the mallet at him. It hit him straight in the knee, sending him tumbling to the ground. He screamed out in pain, a loud crack coming from his leg as he fell. You fucking idiot he thought to himself as he lay on the floor, watching as Jane advanced towards him. She stood over him, sighing as she took the mallet in her hand. “Silly boy” She scolded, swinging it at Gerard’s knee. He cried out in agony, tears streaming down his face a white hot pain flared inside his leg. She giggled, tossing the mallet aside as she brought out a scalpel from her pocket. Gerard’s eyes grew wide in terror. “Please Jane, it wasn’t my fault...” He begged but realised it was useless. He couldn’t protect them. He couldn’t protect Frank. Everything he had done was all for nothing. She gently brushed a strand of hair out of his face. “Any last words?” She asked coldly.

“Fuck you” Gerard growled, spitting in her face.

Suddenly he felt himself choke, a sharp pain slashed across his throat. He back against the cold floor of the building clasping his hands around his throat. The world grew dark as he bled out onto the floor. She bent over him, watching him squeal like a child; blood spilling onto her clothes. She stood beside him. “There’s no place in hell for people like you” she said coldly, echoing the words she said to his father as she took the scalpel and drove it straight into Gerard’s heart; killing him instantly.

*****

She walked into the bathroom and saw Frank lying lifeless against the stall. She knelt before him. “Frank?” She said softly, gently slapping his face. He said nothing; the coloured had drained from his face, leaving a grey tint to tarnish his skin. Jane grabbed his wrist, feeling for a pulse only to find nothing. She sighed, stepping away from him as she looked down on him. Internal bleeding she thought to herself miserably before switching the light out, leaving him alone in the dark.

Notes

:(
I hated writing this. I'm so sorry
Will Pete and Patrick make it out of the building alive or will they become Jane's new victims.

(P.S I have written an alternate ending to this fic- there will be a happy ending)
