The Screaming Hope

Beware of twists;

It’s the cat’s fault. Plus it’s nowhere to be seen.
But if it’s my mom that sees me, I’m literally…
Fucked.
I don’t care; even if she’s here she won’t ever hear these vulgar words.
I must hide. My eyes quickly scan the room where the cat brought me in: I’ve never been in here, even though I’ve visited the president’s house more than I can count since these past two months.
My eyes stop on a cupboard I can easily hide myself in. I manage to get in there and shutting the door without any sound before my mother arrives.
You stupid.
She’s a maid; of course she will check the cupboard.
But this house is so big. Perched on a hill, it is integrally encircled and isolated from everyone. But that doesn’t prevent that all the decisions are made from there.
I like that idea of an isolated place, which is in fact the general quarter, with nobody suspecting what’s going on.
There are more than fifty rooms in this house, each more luxurious than the other. I have visited the town itself, and there is quite a contrast with this house’s luxury.

But this room, though. Like I said, I’ve strangely never been in there, and I was sure I knew this house by heart…
It is quite different from the other rooms: this one is a bit darker and is not as furnished. I open the cupboard’s door a bit, to analyze the room more – without being caught I hope.
I can see the back of my mother; she’s cleaning around the canvases hanging on the wall. The canvases are nice, I must admit. She’s currently cleaning around one representing stripes of colors in the desert.
I’m not used to the country’s decor: it’s really hot, desert, and I don’t feel at home here. I mean, I don’t think I will ever feel at home here. Everything is too weird. Sometimes I ask myself this question: which one of the “previous life” and “new life” do I prefer?
Click.
I can’t see what my mother is doing, but…
Why is there a coffer instead of the canvas she was cleaning?
Her fingers shakily head for the inside of the coffer, towards what is inside the coffer… folders? She grabs them and opens them, reading what is before her eyes.
I wonder when she will leave the room, so that I can leave the house and return bored at “home”.

1,2,3,4. What is she looking for?

5,6,7,8. This place is all I hate.

9,10,11. My nervousness hasn’t loosen.

12,13,14. Everything has lost its sheen.

15. I think I may be seen.

Gasp.
I look up to see who gasped.
My mother turned over and now I can see her… shocked face. She turns the pages of the folders nervously, and her eyes have doubly widened. I see her shaking forefinger touch her tongue in order to moisturize it, and the same forefinger hook on the page. Pages. Even from where I am I can clearly see that her forehead became shinier. And yes, her fingers aren’t the only thing shaking. Her whole body is.
- Enjoying the read, Mrs. Pierce? a voice asks suddenly.
My mother is so surprised she drops the folders. And her forehead increases in shining. I’m not even joking, she looks scared to… death.
- You, you…, mom begins. Y-you order the genocide of an entire people!
I look up to see who the accused is, or rather are, considering that my mother is talking to the president and his co-op.
I don’t like him. And neither his assistants. Even if they act all nicely with me, I can clearly see they’re glaring at me with daggers in their eyes.
And the president. Pff, he’s worse. He acts like he is above everybody, but 100 times exaggerated.
- Come on, Suzy. It’s none of your business, may I remind you of your social position?
- But… It is more than one million people you will kill! my mother protests.
The president sits on a chair nearby; his expression seems to darken a bit.
- It is a revolution Suzy. The beginning of a civil war. OUR civil war, OUR revolution. Like I said, it’s none of your business, and I don’t even know why I’m giving you explanations. I could let you go away, since I don’t care if you open your filthy mouth; but on the other side, I don’t want anyone to be alarmed when we will launch the first attack of our armies… That will be funnier.
He faces all the people in front of him, and then his eyes set on my mother.
- You’re wrong, Mrs. Pierce. There won’t be more than one million people killed.
Then facing everyone:
- There will be more than 20 million people killed!

- Let go of me you sickos! my mother screams with all of her lungs. I will fucking warn everyone of what is going on here! You can’t kill your own people, you must be hare-brained motherfuckers!
- I knew you wouldn’t shut your mouth anyway, that’s why I brought my friends with me.
Three tall men move forward: they are holding objects in their hands; the only thing I recognize is a bottle of alcohol.
- Burn her, the president says coldly.

Notes

I know reading this may be... weird; that's because I took account that this point of view is from a 10 years old boy, and I try so hard to write it as plausible as possible - it is hard to think like a completely opposite person. Because he is young I don't describe as much as I did in other POV's. So don't worry, I will try to fix it anyway if there's any problem with the story.
And in case you were wondering about that president's and civil war's stuff... I don't describe it in here so much because of my personal reasons, but if you wanna know more about it I invite you to go check the history of it because it's a real scourge.

Anyway, I hope you enjoyed it and as usual -comment/rate/subscribe- and have a nice day or rest of the day ~
Looove ya all ~
