Sober Up
Frank’s POV
“So, we should add this here-“ Mikey said, pointing at the paper we were both hunched over. The scribbles were supposed to be our plan for our English project. I opened my mouth to say something when a loud hollering from downstairs cut me off. I heard Gerard’s yells for me, he was partially slurring. I glanced at Mikey, my expression asking permission to go see what Gee needed. He sighed and nodded, pulling the papers over to himself so that he could look the over. I thanked him with a quick nod and hopped up, walking briskly towards the stairs, yelling back a “Coming!” to Gerard’s calls.
I knocked when I reached his door, and upon hearing a softer “Enter” stepped inside. I closed the door behind me and turned to face him.
“So what do you need?” I asked, watching him look up at me from where he was positioned on the edge of his bed. He didn’t say anything for a moment and I swear I saw him shake his head a tiny bit before answering my question.
“I need t-to get sober before my parents get home…” he said, his words half slurred and a little shaky.
“Ahh.” I nodded, understanding. “I can’t guarantee you’ll be sober, but I can try to help you make the signs less visible.” I bit my lip.
He nodded, “Okay Frankie. Just tell me what to do…” he said quietly, looking up at me with huge eyes. I sighed, running a hand through my hair.
“Alright. First thing. I need you to drink three glasses of water. It’ll help with the dehydration getting drunk brings.” I said, making a motion for Gerard to stay seated when he began to rise. “I’ll get it. Just rest a bit for now.”
He complied, laying down on his back while I went to grab the water. I came back a few minutes later with three tall glasses.
“Drink these.” I said, holding them out to Gerard. Gerard took them one at a time, downing it all in a few minutes.
“Now what?” he asked, his voice a little less raspy than before.
“Now, I’m going to go make you some coffee while you take a hot shower. Sound good?”
Gerard nodded vigorously, he had always adored coffee. He closed the door behind me when I left, obviously so he could have his privacy. I went up to the kitchen to make his coffee, leaning against the counter while I waited for the machine to ding. When it did, I poured the coffee into a big mug and carried it down, knocking on the door. I heard a muffled “Wait a sec!” and some soft thumps from inside as Gerard moved around inside. After a short time the door opened. Frank looked over, feeling his heart skip a beat. Gerard looked so handsome with his hair hanging in wet curtains around his face. He smiled a bit, and I had to remind myself Best friend. Not Boyfriend. Before smiling back, stepping inside and holding the coffee out to him. He took it gratefully, downing half of it in one gulp. I decided he looked better already; a couple more coffees and he would be fine. I told him so, and he smiled and thanked me. We shared a quick hug before Mikey came down, asking why I wasn’t back yet. I shrugged and smiled a little sheepishly at Gee, waving slightly before I was led away to work on the project.

hey, ForEverAFan here, we did do some research on how to sober up, it's more like how to make the signs less visible but still. These are true, drink water lots and lots of water, coffee, hot shower, and carbs, lots and lots and lots of carbs, energy drinks help too. But yeah we did do our research before imakilljoywannabe posted this story. Results MAY NOT WORK, USE CAUTION NOT CERTAIN!!! So drink wisely!
