Fifty Shades of Way

***Ivy's POV***

I sat in history, with my head in my hands as I doodled in my notebook. The teacher was going on and on about something to do with the Civil War, but I wasn't paying attention. I glanced at the clock, noticing there was still half an hour left. I sighed to myself, and continued drawing, until I heard my name being called, pulling me from my thoughts. I held my head up, looking towards the front of the room, where the school's secretary was motioning me to the front of the room. I slightly gulped, and got up from my seat.

"Ivy, can I see you for a moment in my office, please?" I stared at the floor, avoiding eye contact, and slowly nodded my head. There's only one thing through my mind. We've been caught. I can't think of anything else I could possibly get into trouble for. I just hope Gee's okay.

I followed the secretary into her office, and saw a familiar lady sitting in one of the chairs. She was crying, with her head held tightly in her hands. Her voice was muffled, but I could still make out who it was. My fucking mom. She looked up at me with tear stained eyes, and shook her head.

"Ivy, is this your mom?" She raised an eyebrow at me. I felt myself tense up, and immediately shook my head. I couldn't go back home, I just couldn't. The days I've spent with Gerard have been unforgettable, and I'm not ready for them to end.

"No! She's lying. I am her mother, I have proof. I came home one night from work, and she was gone. She had run away, and was nowhere to be found. I spent the past week and a half searching for her. I felt more and more empty everyday without her, and I began to loose myself. Please believe me." I closed my eyes tight, hoping that the secretary wouldn't believe her. Everything that came out of her mouth was a lie. I know she never searched for me, I knew she didn't care.

"Is this true? Have you been away from home?" the secretary asked. I gulped before nodding my head. "Who have you been staying with?" I felt myself tense up, noticing all eyes were on me, practically piercing into me. Without even thinking, I blurted out the worst name possible.

"Gerard." my eyes widened, and I instantly covered my mouth with both hands. No I did not just say that. My heart started pounding, and I felt as if it was going to beat right out of my chest.

"Excuse me, but did you say Gerard?" the secretary's eyes widened, as she kept her piercing eyes locked with mine. I took a deep breath, and tried to revive myself by saying the first name that came to mind.

"N-No. I said Jackie." I lied. I mentally smacked myself for saying her name, but it was better than Gerard. The secretary gave me a questioning look, and bit her lip.

"Sanders?" she asked

"Y-Yes." I murmured. I kept my head low, hoping this whole thing would just end. I caught eye contact with my mother, who I noticed was shooting me daggers. I gulped, and rested my head in my hands.

"If you still don't believe me, here's her birth certificate." my mom added. Fuck. The secretary looked up, and took the piece of paper from her hands, and studied it. She then handed it back to my mother, and took out a small pink pad, and began to fill something in.

"Here." she said, handing me the paper. It was a detention notice. "For lying. Why did you deny that she's your mother?" I looked down at my hands, and then back at my mom. She gave me an infuriated look as if telling me to keep my mouth shut about the other night. My hands were shaking, and I was too scared to make up an excuse. I just looked at the secretary, and shrugged. I knew if I had mentioned anything of that night, my mom would really give it to me.

"You don't know?" she raised an eyebrow.

"I-I'm sorry." I whispered. She gave me a concerned look, but brushed it off. The three of us sat in silence, until my mom roughly grabbed my hand, forcing me to get up.

"If there is nothing else, I will be taking my daughter home. Thank you for your help." she stated. Once the secretary nodded, she tugged my by my wrist, and dragged me out of the office.

***Gerard's POV***

I sat at my desk and began grading numerous papers while I waited for Ivy. I checked the clock, noticing last period ended twenty minutes ago. I furrowed my eyebrows, and checked my phone to see if by some chance, Ivy called to tell me that she wouldn't meet me here. Nothing. I sighed and put my phone down, running a hand through my hair. She probably forgot, and just headed back to the house. I nodded to myself, and finished grading the last of the papers. I then packed up my bag, and headed towards my car.

I opened the front door, and headed into the house, expecting to see Ivy sitting on the couch. I furrowed my eyebrows in confusion when I saw she wasn't there.

"Baby? I'm home." I called. No response. I began to feel myself grow with worry once I noticed how empty the house felt. Something's not right. I ran up the stairs, looking into my bedroom, praying she'd be in there. I groaned when I saw she wasn't. I ran back down the stairs and checked out the window, seeing her car was in the driveway. I immediately grabbed my phone, and dialed her number. No answer. I ran a hand through my hair, and plopped myself down on the couch. I decided to leave her a long voice-mail, hoping she'll turn up soon.
