Runaway Scars and The Getaway Mile

Chapter 7: The Lights You Make

With the windows rolled down it wasn't hard for me to jump out of the car without opening the door.
Like a total badass.

Cars and motorbikes were parked all around the back of the warehouse with no organisation going on whatsoever, people just parked where they pleased.

Party, Ghoul, Kobra and Jet had huge grins on their faces, as the music coming from the nightclub got even louder.
Who ever knew that Killjoys had clubs?

"So what are you looking forward to, Ghoul?" I asked him as we walked from the back of the club towards the front.

"Android girls, they're all babes." Ghoul sighed with a dreamy look on his face and there was no doubt in my mind I wouldn't be seeing him for the rest of the night.

"What about you Jet and Kobra?" I pretty much planned to find out what everyone else was going to be doing for the night.

"Dust angels and drinks." They said at the same time, was girls only thing these guys ever thought of or did they think of other stuff as well?

"Party, please tell me you're thinking of something other than android girls, dust angels and drinks." I wouldn't be surprised if he got a lot of girls, after all he was gorgeous but I imagined him with a little more depth than that.

"Dancing and the look on your face when you realise just now many girls these three can get." Party smiled at me and I smiled back, I never pictured him as a dancer but it would be interesting to see it tonight.

As we got closer the front of the club and reached the doors I saw four girls standing out the front.
One with pink hair, one with blue and one with orange, then the last one with black and white hair who was the only one I recognised.

"Hi!" Sunshine yelled at us, running over in her high heels and disturbingly short skirt with suspenders.

"Ghoulie!" She added, running over to him specifically and at the last moment jumping so her caught her with her legs wrapped around his waist.

It wasn't long before they were kissing so hard she could probably taste his breakfast from five years ago which was even more eye scarring than her skirt that was now even higher since it'd shifted after she jumped on him.

Kobra put his hand over my eyes to stop me from having to see Ghoul and Sunshine getting much closer than what should be publicly allowed.
Well, he's a slut.

Kobra took his hand away from my eyes again and Sunshine was now back on the ground and wiping her smeared lipstick.

"Hehe, I'm sorry about that." Throttle didn't look very sorry about it and I couldn't help but wonder what the relationship was between Ghoul and Sunshine.

Were they boyfriend and girlfriend, very close friends, occasional fling?
I don't even think they knew what they were, I wonder if robots fall in love.

Sunshine gave us all a hug now that she'd finished her face embrace with Ghoul and when she stopped at me her already there smile got even wider.

"You got your name yet?" I'd forgotten that the last time I'd seen her I didn't have a name and only now did I remember.

"Electric Revenge." I said my name with a huge grin on my face that could beat the one on Ghoul's as he talked to the three people Sunshine had been hanging out with that I was sure were android girls

"Fucking awesome!" She high fived me then I took my gun out of its holster and showed it to her.

"Someone take that before she shoots me!" Ghoul called out, now realising I was holding it even though he seemed a bit distracted by the girls who were all over him as if he were god or something.

"You've put your zap to good use I see." I laughed then nodded, putting my blaster back into the holster as she gestured to the three who'd been standing with her.
They came running over and froze in front of Party, Jet, Kobra and I.

"This is Sapphire, Rose and Poppy." She gestured to each of them and I noticed their hair was similar to their names, coincidence? I think not.
They also happened to be identical with their hair colours being the only difference between them.

"Hi." They said at the same time in a more monotonous voice than I expected.

"They're androids like me, they're new to this Zone." Seems like it and judging by the clothes they were wearing Sunshine dressed them too.

"We should be heading in now. Have you seen Cola and Chimp yet?" Party was slowly moving over to the club doors, he looked a tad freaked out by the looks he was getting from the three androids.

"Yeah they showed up here a few minutes before you guys did. That reminds me, Sapphire didn't stamp their hands." Sunshine gasped before leaving us and running into the building.

I didn't know a stamp could be so important.

"Come on, Ghoul. Hands off the droids so we can go." Fun Ghoul was getting a bit handsy with Poppy who had walked over to him.

Ghoul said something to her before she walked off and he came over to our group so we could finally go into the club that I'd been excited to see all day.

Before we went anywhere Sapphire came running over and stamped all over us but no ink showed up, next time I see Sunshine I'll tell her the ink it's working.

Party Poison put an arm around my shoulders as we strolled over to the doors I could feel my heartbeat getting faster.

"Be careful when you're in there. I'll try to stay with you the whole time if I can but we might get separated and this place can get hot and if anyone comes onto you just say FYW or mention me and they should leave you alone." It was obvious Party had quite the reputation around here even among BLI who wanted him dead.

I nodded and Party opened the door, for all of us. Immediately the music came blasting out, somehow louder inside than it was on the outside.

'She said come on come on, kiss my battery. Come on, come on I'll be your android girl. She said come on, come on, lick that battery. Come on, come on and fuck this whole wide world!"

Wow, this is the first time I've heard music since I woke up and it's friggen good music too.

"What's this band?" I yelled to Party over the intense volume of music as we walked into the club, being engulfed by people seconds later.

"The Mad Gear and The Missile Kid." He yelled back, this music was really good and I felt like it was the kind I would have listened to before I lost my memories.

I looked to my side to see Kobra, Jet and Ghoul gone. That was really quick, even faster than I expected.

"We won't be seeing them until four in the morning. Drinks?" He asked and I yelled something that sounded like yes back in response so he led us over to the bar.

"Wanna slam chaser?" I had no idea what else was on the menu so I nodded and he ordered so he yelled to the guy behind the bar.

The guy who was far away didn't hear him and Party sighed before putting a hand on the bar and jumping up.

"What are you doing?!" He jumped over the other side with a grin on his face and took two glasses off a shelf.

"Making a some drinks." His grin got wider and his hair hung in his face after him mussing it up from jumping around.

"But you don't work here!" I don't even know if they had people who worked here, the guy behind the bar had the same look as everyone else. Bright and shiny looking.

"No one cares, that's the awesome part about this place." He took a shaker from under the counter and started pouring things into it.

"I'll be right back. I just have to get something from over there." He pointed at nothing I could see from where I stood before walking off.

Seconds later I felt the very unwelcome touch of someone's hand on the borderline between the base of my spine and my butt.

I might seem a little like it sometimes but I was no wallflower and if someone touched me and I didn't want them doing it they'd know about it.

"Hey listen the fuck up motherfucker! Hands off me right the fuck now or I'll break them off! I'm here with Party and I'm not interested you so just fuck off." I turned around and put one hand on my ray gun to make a point.

I'd shoot at Ghoul for making fun of me and he was my friend, now just imagine what I'd do to some creep I didn't even know.

"Calm down, I know. I saw you with him, it was just a joke. I'm Agent Cherri Cola, Party and I are mates." The hand instantly went off me and out in front of him so I could shake it.
Great now I feel bad for insulting Party's friend.

"Sorry 'bout that, I'm Electric Revenge and it's nice to meetcha." I shook his hand and he smiled for a moment before waving as Party came back.

"Behind the bar again are ya?" Cola was talking to Party who seemed to be finishing up with the drinks.

"Yep, not tending tonight though." Did Party work at the bar or was he joking about it because I could kinda imagine him behind a bar, with that sexy grin, his hair all crazied up, his jacket off...

"Well get me some ice. I freaked out Chimp earlier and she didn't appreciate it that much." He turned his head to the side so Poison and I could see the shiner he had on his right eye and the small cut on his lip.

I haven't met Chimp yet but she seems to have one hell of a punch, that's for sure. I don't think I'd like to get in a fight with her, not when I'm in a weak, happy to lucky mood anyway.

Party wrapped some ice up in a towel and passed it to Cherri who immediately pressed it to his lip.

"You'd get along with Chimp, she likes swearing as well." I laughed, yeah I did have a habit of getting a bit excited with my words sometimes.

"Here take these." Party handed me two rainbow looking drinks before jumping back over the counter and pulling something out of his pocket.

He put what looked like plastic tokens on the other side of the counter before taking his drink back.

"What are those?" I asked and instead of Party answering it was Cola whose lip looked less swelled now that the ice had taken effect.

"Carbons, duh." I didn't have any idea what they were, seriously will someone just give me a fuckin' book to explain all these words!

"Cherri, she's one of the comatose." Party said to him a little gruffly before taking a sip from his drink that seemed to change colours.

"Oh, sorry. Carbons, it's money." So their money looked like poker tokens, alright then.

"Try your drink." Poison told me and I sampled what looked like a rainbow in a cup, well it was actually green but it had been red before.

It tasted very sweet but burnt a little at the same time, like the Ambrosia Ghoul had given me earlier on today.

"It's good." I mumbled before taking a gulp, causing Party and Cola to start laughing.

"Jeez slow down, 'Lectric. That shit's strong. You realise it's alcohol right?" It was a bit late for him to bring that up but I did know it was alcohol although I didn't know it was strong, it didn't taste like it.

Instead of sharing all my thoughts I just nodded and shrugged.

"I'm gonna get back to Chimp before she starts missing me. I'll catch ya later, Party. Nice to meet ya, Electric." Cola waved to us before wandering off into the crowd and I stood there with my drink for a moment before talking to Party.

"How long have you guys known each other for?" I asked him, obviously talking about Cola and he took another sip from his drink before answering.

"Since the Helium Wars. We've been buddies for a long time." I nodded and went to drink from my glass again only to find it empty, how frickin much must I have drunk?

"So is this bringing back any memories?" Party should know I couldn't remember anything but just for the hell of it I decided to muck around.

In acting mode I collapsed against the bar and put the back of my hand up to my head dramatically.

"It's all coming back to me. Now I remember, I used to work in a bar, no wait I didn't work at a bar it was on one. I was a runaway stripper who just wanted to be a model in the big city." Party started laughing so hard he almost spat his drink out and I grinned, I liked seeing him laugh and smile.

"Don't tell Ghoul that or he'll make you give him a lap dance." We both knew he wouldn't even consider it, I'd shoot him before the words left his mouth.

"That drink was really good, how did you make it?" Party finished his drink and put it on the bench next to my glass that has been empty long before his.

"I'm not telling you, it's strong it'll probably only take one more for you to be off your face." Well I will admit that I've never had alcohol before, at least not that I can remember.

"Aw, don't be so mean to me." I pouted and crossed my arms over my chest, I knew he wouldn't be telling me about it though.

"Maybe once you build up a bit of an immunity." I didn't need an immunity, I wasn't even feeling drunk now despite Party saying it was a bit strong.

I'll definitely by trying that again though, it tastes awesome and what have I got to lose anyway?

"Now I didn't make you come to the club with us for no reason. You are going to dance with me." He didn't leave room for a yes or no answer and grabbed my hand.

He pulled me through the crowd of people, full on gripping my hand I couldn't let go if I tried not that I really wanted to.

Party and I found a small area that wasn't totally packed and took advantage of it. I have no idea how on earth I was supposed to dance and if I happened to be a dancer before I forgot everything then it definitely wasn't showing up now.

'Salutations, from our greater northwest ally and reservations at the Cosa Nostra steak house 8 P.M. You got your rickety bones I got my rickety hands. You got your rickety bones I got my rickety hands. You got your rickety bones I got my rickety hands. I'm turning into some dust. I'm turning into some bats.'

This music was seriously wicked and I loved it, I hope that all music here sounds like this so I can just enjoy it all the time.

"So what do you think of the music?" Party pulled me closer so I could hear him over the music that was even louder for us since we were standing right under a speaker.

"I love it, it's shiny." I told him, having to pretty much speak directly into his ear.

Whether you liked it or not when the music was this loud and you wanted to talk there wasn't much of an option when it came to personal space.

"Do you like living out here?" I brushed my hair out of my face that had fallen in the way during some of my bad dancing.

"Yeah! I like everything about it, the camping, the people and the food is to die for." It was more than obvious that the last part was meant as a joke, I'd barely been able to choke down a can of Power Pup for breakfast.

Party Poison laughed a little and caused me to start giggling by how be sounded.
His laugh was weird but one of the most entertaining things I've ever heard.

The song ended and I expected for it to fade from this one to another like it did last time except a single voice with no music came on.

"Hello, zone runners, wave heads, motorbabies and rubber burners. Y'all having a good time tonight? Well it doesn't matter so much because I've got a new song for all of you. My good friend Dr. D told me this was the shit. Like it, good for you because I certainly do and if not well fuck your world. So fire on full pistons and absorb the sound." The female voice spoke over the speakers and Party got a grin on his face.

"That's, Chimp." He said in the silence between the end of her voiceover and the start of the song.

'Gravity, don't mean too much to me.
I'm who I've got to be.'

Party Poisons grip on my hand got even tighter and he pulled me closer to him. I felt my face slowly go red, my whole face not just my cheeks and I had the feeling I slightly resembled a tomato.

He rested his chin on the top of my head and I was reminded of how much shorter than him I was.

'These pigs are after me, after you.'

This song was very beautiful, it wasn't all fast and thrash like the other ones the club had played tonight but I still loved it, probably more than the others.

'Run away, like it was yesterday.'

"The singers got an amazing voice." I told him, resting my head on his shoulder and I felt could actually feel him smile.

'And we could run away, if we could run away.'

I don't know why Party and I weren't dancing like everyone else, we were just standing really close to each other.

'Run away from here.'

It was really nice standing this close to him even though it didn't look like much. He'd let go of hand hand and casually wrapped his arms around my waist, my head was still resting on him and he'd put his chin on my shoulder.

"I got a bulletproof heart. You got a hollow-point smile. Me and your runaway scars got a photograph dream on the getaway mile." He sung quietly and I felt my eyebrows go up slightly, he wouldn't have heard this song before would he?

Chimp gave me the impression this was a song that nobody had heard before and even if Party had managed to hear it briefly it couldn't have been enough to memorise the words.

"Let's blow a hole in this town and do our talking with a laser beam. Gunning out of this place in a bullet's embrace then we'll do it again." His voice sounded the exact same as the person singing over the speakers.

"Party, what's up with the music?" I asked him although there was still no chance I was moving my head though, I was feeling happy and just wanted to know what the hell was going on.

"What do you think I was doing when talking to Doc with the guys?" Why did he have to answer a question with a question?

"I don't frickin know. Talking." I guessed, feeling a bit frustrated he couldn't just plainly answer my question.

"Hey, Party! Come dance with me!" His arms dropped from my waist as a green haired girl walked up and smiled at me, I could immediately tell she was an android.

Sunshine had normal human looking skin but this girls was tinted slightly blue and her eyes glowed creepily, she also had a very monotone voice like the three droids I'd met outside.

"Uh, Electric would you be willing to wait for a moment or two?" I nodded and sighed, if she wanted to dance with Party and he wanted to dance with her then I wouldn't object.

Immediately the android took his hand and dragged him away from me and I stood there biting my lip. Wanting to tell her to fuck off just a little bit but for all I know they dance together every time he comes here.

Besides the song that'd been playing had ended and the moment that seemed to be passing between Party and I was now over.

I stood there awkwardly, not knowing what to do now. I suppose I could try to find the Killjoys or Sunshine, even Cola would do.

"Hey, babe! Over here!' I looked up from the floor to see Ghoul waving at me from a crowd of people. Well that was some seriously perfect timing if there ever was.

It didn't take long for me to decide that it wouldn't be hard for Party to find me. If Ghoul managed to do it that easily then it shouldn't be hard for him.

"Coming!" I yelled back and pushed through the crowd to Ghoul who was hanging out with Kobra, Sapphire, Poppy and Rose in the corner of the room.

Kobra had his arm around two of them and I wondered if he should be around androids that were dressed as if they should be in a copy of Shiny when he would have been eighteen at the max.

"Doll, w-where's, Party?" Ghoul was stumbling over his words and slurring a little bit. He's obviously had enough to drink for one night but I got the feeling he wouldn't be stopping.

"He went off with some droid, she had this crazy green hair and blue skin thing going on." I mumbled a bit at the end, I was feeling upset that he left with her when he said he'd stay with me the whole time.

"Oh, I know her. Neon Kiss, you won't be seeing him for a looong time." Kobra chimed in and sat down on a chair pressed against a wall. Kobra wasn't as drunk as Fun Ghoul but he looks like he's had fair share of alcohol.

Suddenly I felt someone's arm around my shoulder and looked to the side to see Sunshine who had a huge grin on her face.

"Hello, would you like a cyanide coma? It's good." Throttle held a dark drink in a tall glass in front of me and I took it from her with a nod.

"So what were you saying about Neon Kiss?" I asked Kobra, before considering trying the drink that sounded like it would be the death of me.

"Neon and Party go way back. More than half the time she's cover for Shiny. Anyway they have this friendship kinda thing going on. A bit like Ghoul and Sunshine." My mouth opened to say something and I couldn't think of anything.

I should have know Party would have someone even if she wasn't exactly a girlfriend, that explains why Party left me to go hang out with Neon.

I stared at the drink in my hand for a moment before lifting the glass to my lips and gulping it down in one to. Damn that tasted much stronger than a slam chaser.

Within seconds I felt the alcohol go rushing to my head, making my thoughts go blurry, it was nice.
I didn't want to think about anything that'd happened in the past half hour and I especially didn't want to think about Party.

"You want another?" Sunshine immediately passed me the drink she had in her other hand and I took it from her.

"Thanks." I grinned at her before drinking from the glass, the alcohol tasted much better the second time and it left a smile on my face.

"Hey I've got an idea. I know this rubber burner you'd bet along with really well, Revolver Kill. Come on I know where he is." Sunshine grabbed me by the arm and I had to try hard not to spill my drink as I followed her through the crowd.
