In The Dark, I See You
Chapter 9: Trust
Lindsey P.O.V.
When I woke up, I was now calm. I swear I was scare. No one answered me until I called Gerard. Gerard. Where is he?
I looked around the room and he isn't here. Did Jennifer tell him not to leave me alone at all time!? I started to breathe heavily now. Where the fuck is Gerard!
I began to scream. This is what usually happens when no one is here with me.
As I screamed I heard footsteps coming. The bedroom door opened to reveal Gerard.
"Fuck. Lindsey calm down." Gerard said sitting next to me. I stopped screaming at least, but I was still breathing heavily.
"It's okay, Lindsey. I'm here, I never left. I'm sorry I wasn't here when you woke up," Gerard said. Gerard pulled me for a hug. I don't mind it at all.
I breathe heavily into his shirt. When I inhaled, I smelled cologne and cigarettes. Something I haven't smoked since my lung collapsed.
He rubbed my back and cooed in my ear that he was here now.
I sighed deeply. A sign that my heavy breathing is over with.
"Better now?" Gerard asked.
"Y-yeah." I reply.
"Good." Gerard said. "Hey Lindsey?"
"Yeah?"
"Why did you laugh when I said 'trust me'?" Gerard asked.
I was confused. I haven't laughed or heard him say 'trust me'? I broke the hug and looked at him. "I did?"
"Yeah. Why don't you trust me?" He asked.
Gerard looked more hurt than worried. I guess I don't really trust anyone within four months. But there is something about him that makes it the only exception.
"I-I have trust issues. Sorry," I mumbled not looking at him.
"Why should you be sorry for having trust issues? It's not your fault. It's those who let you down. So don't blame yourself," Gerard said holding my hand.
"Really," I asked. He nodded.
"Here. I know this great trust exercise-"
"Please don't let it be the trust fall. I've done that millions of time now," I said.
"No that's not it. Do you have a chair we can use?" He asked.
"Kitchen." I said.
He pulled me up to go with him. I guess he doesn't want to leave me alone, good. We head to the kitchen and grabbed one of the chairs. We headed back to my room but stopped in the middle of my mini hallway.
Gerard set the chair down then pulled me to the room. The fuck is he doing? "Uh, what the fuck are you doing?" I asked.
"A trust exercise. Now Lindsey, you are going to have to close you eyes." Gerard said as he took me to the other side of the bed.
"No!" I said.
"Trust me, Lindsey. This is a great exercise," he said.
"Well, your ass better tell me first what I'm suppose to do or else I'm not going to close my eyes." I stated.
"You're going to close your eyes. Let me be your eyes. I'm going to guide you to the chair. I'll tell you the instructions, but you have to close your eyes or else none of this will work. When I tell you to sit down, you sit down. Got it?" Gerard said.
"So you're going to be my eyes?" I asked.
"Yep." He said popping out the P.
"Fine. Just to get over with this." I closed my eyes.
"Alright, I'll be next to you the whole time. Okay, walk four giant steps. I'll count with you." Gerard whispered to my ear.
I don't know why but it send me shivers down my spin. I walked four giant steps just like he told me.
"Great! Now turn to your right and walk ten baby steps." Gerard whispered.
He counted with me. What is the point of this again? Oh yeah, trust.
"Good. Now turn to your right again and walk three giant steps." He whispered.
He counted again.
"Now turn to your left and walk five giant steps." Gerard whispered.
Every time he whispers to my ear, shivers run down. I nod and began to walk my steps.
"Turn to your right and walk four giant steps." Gerard whispered.
As I walked, I felt his hand brush against mine.
"Now, turn 180 degrees and sit down." Gerard said.
I turned but I don't sit down. What if he's playing a trick on you? No Lindsey! He's not like that! Why don't you understand!
"Why don't you sit down?" He asked.
"I-I don't know," I said.
I can feel him shift closer to me. His warm breath gently hit my skin.
"Don't you trust me?" Gerard mumbled.
"Yes." I mumbled.
All there was was silence. Then I felt something brush against my lips. Then a soft pressure on my lips is planted. As I inhale, I smell the familiar smell of cologne and cigarettes: Gerard. Gerard cups my face as if I was going to run away. I probably was going to.
It took me a moment to realize Gerard is kissing me. I shyly kiss him back. Gerard's hands went to my waist as mine went wrapping around his neck.
After a moment of being kissed, but it felt like forever, Gerard pulls back. Cheeks rosy red, eyes gazed at me, just like me. I didn't realize I was blushing like a mad man until Gerard pulled back.
Gerard blinked his eyes as if comprehending what he just did. "I-I'm sorry." He said.
"W-what f-for?" I asked.
"K-kissing you. I have to go. I'm sorry Lindsey," Gerard said and started running out the door.
I ran after him. "Wait!" I yelled. He stopped at the door, ready to leave. I ran up to him and stop once I'm in front of him. I look into his eyes and go for it.
I wrap my arms around his neck and kiss him. This time the kiss deepened. Or at least we try. We pull back. "I love you," he whispered. "I love you, too." I whispered back. It was the first time I said 'I love you' in a long time.
