Rock And Roll Ruined My Life- Chapter 34- Tour

Kat’s P.O.V.

Knock, Knock, Kock

‘Who is that?’ I asked myself as I turned to look at the clock on the nightstand. It was 10:00 AM.

Knock, Knock, Knock

I sighed and got up. I looked through the peep-hole thingy and smiled.

“Hey, Zack,” I said as I opened the door.
“Oh, did I wake you up?”
“Not really, I was up anyways,” I shrugged, thankful that I had woken up an hour ago and gotten ready at nine.
“Sorry.”
“Don’t be sorry! Come in,” I said stepping aside. He walked in and sat down on the sofa. I turned on one of the lamps in the corner.
“Do you want anything to drink? Coffee, tea, something?”
“No, I’m good, thanks.”

“So-” I stopped mid sentence as Juliet sighed and shifted in her sleep. “So,” I continued on, this time whispering, “what’s up?”
“Jack was just waking up and Alex and Rian called me to go and get them. I wanted to see if you guys wanted to come with us to get breakfast.”
“Yeah, definitely! Let me go wake up Jules.”

I walked over to Julie’s bed and tapped her arm.

“Who’s here?” she asked in a raspy voice, eyes still closed.
“Zack.”
“Holy crap, why did you let him in? I look like death run over!” She opened her eyes wide in fear.
“Zack understands, I mean look at me!” I said doing a 360 so she could see my appearance.
“Okay, but you’re fully dressed. Ugh fine, but its not going to be pretty,” she said climbing out of bed.

Slowly, she rose to her full height to reveal her mix-matched pajamas: blue plaid pants, a white v-neck, and a dark hunter green zip up hoodie. Her eyes looked sunken against her face and they were completely bloodshot, and her hair literally stood out in a halo of fly-aways. I did my best not to laugh. I turned to look at Zack- who was also trying his best to remain composed- and raised my eyebrows and mouthed “yikes!” Julie obviously wasn’t a morning person, but that’s okay. She’d wake up… eventually

“I know, I know, go ahead laugh. Zack I’m really sorry you had to see this,” she replied as she walked over to her suitcase.
“It’s okay,” he chuckled.
“I can’t even function,” she mumbled.
“We’re not in a rush so it’s okay,” I smiled.
“Alright. I’m gunna shower. Be right back,” she grabbed all of her clothes and shuffled into the bathroom, locking the door behind her.

“So, yesterday was fun,” I grinned.
“Yeah, I mean, it was boring at first but then once we all went out it was good… I really hope Rian and Alex don’t have hangovers,” Zack confessed, his brow creasing slightly.
“Don’t worry, I’m sure they’re gunna be okay,” I nodded.
“I don’t know about that. Alex and Lisa can drink, so can Rian and Kara…”
“Oh okay.”
“I just feel like the day would be crappy if they did.”
“Yeah, I can see where you’re coming from... Wanna go downstairs and see if Jack’s ready?”
“Yeah, okay.”
“Alright. Julie!” I called out knocking on the bathroom door.
“What happened?” she called back.
“We’re gunna go down and see if Jack’s ready! Be down in 15 minutes, please?”
“Okay, bye.”
“Bye! Let’s go,” I smiled taking the lead out the room. Before I left I took the ‘Do Not Disturb’ sign on the outside so cleaning service wouldn’t walk in and start changing the sheets.

“Crap. I forgot to put that on the outside of our room! Jack takes his sweet old time walking around the room naked too. They’ll walk in on him!” Zack froze in his tracks
“Oh my God! Let’s go!” I pulled on his arm and jogged down to the elevator and hit the down button three times in a row. It showed up two minutes later, and Zack pulled me out of the way just in time. I totally forgot there were tons of people coming up from breakfast in the lobby!

“Thanks,” I smiled as we got on and went back down to the first floor. When we walked down the hallway, we were too late. The cleaning service had just opened the door.

“HOLY SHIT! WHAT THE FUCK!” We heard Jack yell as the cleaning lady shrieked and ran out, dropping various sanitizers as she went. We both doubled over in laughter, leaning on the walls for support. Finally, when we were able to stand, we walked over to the room and Zack took out his key.

“You better wait until I give you the okay,” Zack told me still laughing.
“Okay,” I replied, gasping for air.
“So, Jack, had a surprise visit?” I heard Zack laugh as we walked in.

“Fuck not you too. Is nothing sacred?! Why the fuck was some house cleaner walking in on me changing?”
“I forgot to put the ‘Do Not Disturb’ sign on the door…”
“YOU BASTARD!” I heard Jack yell, the smacking of skin followed.
“Will you put a shirt on? Kat’s outside.”
“Oh crap. Okay, I’m done.”
“Kat, you can come in,” Zack said, sticking his head out the doorframe.

“Pfff. Hey, Jack,” I laughed.
“Shut up. That was one of the worst experiences ever. I felt so fuckin’ exposed,” he cried in a perfect coffee talk accent.
“I’m sorry,” I apologized, attempting to stifle my laughter.
“It’s alright. Where’s Julie?”
“She’s upstairs getting ready. Want to go surprise her?” I asked.
“Oh my God, yeah! Can I have the key?”
“Yeah just don’t lose it, please.”
“I promise I won’t,” he replied, sticking it in his pocket and walking towards the door.
“I’ll be right back!” he called.

We were both still chuckling to ourselves about Jack’s walk-in, when Zack spoke up.

“Jack’s so funny. I could never be like that,” he said somewhat jokingly while shaking his head.
“You’re funny too Zack! Just in your own way,” I smiled.
“Thanks, Kat,” he smiled, pulling me into a hug. His body felt like a rock, but his hug was so perfect. I felt like I could stay like that forever- we almost did. Finally when we pulled away I looked up into his eyes. They were hazel. The most beautiful hazel eyes I had ever seen. I felt my cheeks flush as he bent down and pressed his lips to mine. I kissed him back, and he wrapped his arms around my waist and pulled me closer again. It was over in five seconds.

“That was the best first kiss ever,” I gushed.
“First?” Zack quoted me, eyebrows raised.
“Yeah,” I blushed.
“That was the best first kiss I’ve ever seen,” he smiled, giving me another hug.
“Really?”
“Yeah, definitely… Katherine, will you go out with me?” he asked, biting his lip. I noticed his neck turn pink- he was as nervous as I was and it was just flat outadorable.
“Of course, Zack,” I smiled.
“Awesome,” he replied, smiling.
“Not to ruin the mood or anything, but I think we should go check on Julie and Jack.”
“Yeah. Jack is all riled up and she’s still half asleep,” Zack chuckled.

With that, we walked to the elevator, hand in hand. I had never felt more special in my entire life.

Juliet’s P.O.V.

I was just shutting off the shower when I thought I heard the front door close. ‘Kat and Zack are downstairs waiting for me,’ I shook my head as I got dressed. I brushed out my hair, braided it, then brushed my teeth.

“Ah!” I smiled at myself in the mirror, feeling refreshed. ‘All I have to do is get socks and-’

“HOLY CRAP! JACK YOU SCARED THE FUCKING SHIT OUT OF ME!” I shrieked as he doubled over in laughter. “I can’t even walk out of the shower,” I sighed as I crossed over to my suitcase to get socks. My heart was pounding furiously from the shock of him jumping out like that.

“Aw, I’m sorry,” he apologized, holding out his arms. I looked at him and shook my head.
“I really thought someone was trying to rob me,” I said, turning back to reorganize my clothes. Suddenly, I felt a chin rest on my shoulder and two arms wrap around me.
“I’m sorry,” he repeated. I sighed in defeat and turned around to give him a proper hug.

Knock, knock, knock, knock, knock. Knock Knock!

“I’ll get it,” Jack said pulling away. I quickly finished reorganizing and began putting on my Converse.

“Oh good, you’re almost done,” Kat smiled. I looked up to smile back and noticed she was holding Zack’s hand!
“Yeah, but Jack almost gave me a heart attack!” I replied, shooting him a glance. Before Jack could say anything, Zack spoke up:
“Jack had his own heart attack this morning too-”
“Really?”
“Shut up!” Jack yelled, trying to stop him.
“-The cleaning lady walked in on him changing.” By now, all three of us were hysterical while Jack stood there, arms crossed over his chest.
“Oh-my-God-I-can’t!” I gasped, leaning onto Kat for support.
“I-know!” she cried back.
“Let’s just go get Alex and Rian,” Jack sighed in annoyance, trying not to laugh himself.
“Okay, okay,” I nodded, straightening out. We walked out to the elevator and then straight to the parking lot.

When we got to the motel, Alex, Rian, Kara, and Lisa were all waiting for us in the little lobby.

“Finally,” Alex said, climbing into the car.
“Where were you guys?” Rian asked. I looked at the clock on the dashboard; it was 11:24. Okay maybe we were a little late…

“We were having some shower issues,” Kat explained. Alex stopped short.
“I don’t even want to know. Julie, do me a favor and get the pair of sun glasses in the glove box.” I nodded and passed them to him. I guess they were only a little hung over, not too bad; maybe just a bad headache and nothing else.

“Applebees?” Jack asked as he pulled out of the parking lot.
“Yeah,” we all replied. The car ride there was silent, no radio, no talking, nada. I guess it was half because we were too lazy and tired to do anything, and half because we didn’t want to worsen the others’ headaches.

We finished eating and then made the trek back to the hotel. It was there in the lobby that we ran into everyone else.

“Hey, guys!” I smiled, running over to give all of MCR and Avenged Sevenfold hugs.
“Hey,” the Avenged guys replied, not moving at all. Almost everyone of them was wearing sunglasses except for Brian.
“Designated driver?” I asked as I gave him a hug.
“Yup,” he replied. I chuckled and shook my head.

“Hey, Frank,” I smiled, bending over to give him a hug. He gave no reply, just a hug.
“Hey, Ray.”
“Hey.”
“Hey, Mikey,” I smiled.
“Hey, Jules.”
“Gerard?” I asked as I walked over to a figure in sweatpants, a hoddie pulled up all the way, and big, dark, sunglasses. “Hi,” I chuckled as I hugged him. After I finished, I stepped back and re-introduced everyone. We talked for a few minutes until Gerard got a text from Lindsey saying check out was in 15 minutes. I pouted and turned to Jack and the gang.

“I guess we have to go guys.”
“We never got to go to the mall,” Lisa frowned.
“Or even hang out,” Kara added.
“I’m sorry guys. It was nice meeting you though! Seriously, text me and Kat. Maybe next weekend we can do something?”
“Okay, sounds good! See you Julie!”
“See you Kat!” We both gave them hugs before moving on to Alex and Rian. Finally, it was just Jack and Zack left. I gave Jack the biggest hug I could muster, and discretely kissed him on the cheek while doing so. No one on the hungover side noticed. Then I moved on to Zack and gave him a big hug too.

“Congrats!” I whispered. He smiled, going along with the awkward goodbye. Finally, Kat and I were escorted up to the third floor by the two bands. Once again, our ride upstairs was silent.

“Pack up and meet us in the lobby again,” Gerard said, walking down the hall to his own room with the rest of the guys. I nodded and closed our door.

“What a weekend,” I sighed.
“You’re telling me!” Kat replied.
“Ohmigosh I totally forgot to ask! Are you and Zack-”
“Going out? Yes!” she squealed. I walked over to her and together we jumped in a victory circle.
“We’re not forever alone anymore!” I smiled.
“All thanks to you, my friend!” Kat said giving me a hug.
“Aw no problem! I can’t wait to tell Gerard and Lindsey!” I gushed.
“Oh my God. I have to tell my parents!” Kat stopped, looking terrified. I stopped and shook my head.
“You’ll be fine. Zack is a good guy!” I reassured her.
“Okay, okay,” she nodded as she took a deep breath.
“Let’s go down to the lobby,” I said, walking to the door with my stuff.
“Okay!”

**************************************************************************************************

“Bye, Kat!” I called as I lowered my window.
“Bye! Thank you SO much!” she waved.
“No problem!”
“See you on Monday!”
“Okay, bye!” I rolled up my window and Lindsey pulled away.

“I forgot it was Saturday until she said that,” Lindsey said.
“Me too! It feels like a Sunday.”
“Agrbh!”
“Shh Bandit,” I put a finger to my lips, “Daddy and Uncle Mikey are sleeping.”
“Shh!” She mimicked me. I laughed softly and then continued to stare out the window until we got home. I guess I had to do all of my homework today, since it was going to be quiet and uneventful.

I thought about yesterday and all of the fun Kat and I had with Jack and Zack, and my heart ached. I would give anything to be able to spend the entire day with them. As if on cue, I felt my phone buzz:

- hey ;) –jack
- Hey :D What’s up?
- nm just wishing we had more time 2 hang out. you?
- Same. But I have like a lot of homework this weekend :’(
- if u finish it today then maybe i can see if i can drive down to see u tomorrow?
- Omg that’s a good idea! I will deff finish it today!
- then it’s a date?
- Yes ;)
- i gotta go, sorry beautiful
- Its okay, I’ll see you tomorrow! Bye
- bye

I snapped my phone shut as we pulled into the driveway. As I was taking out all of my bags, my phone buzzed again. This time it was Alex:

- idk what you said to Jack, but all I know is that you 2 being together is quite entertaining xD
- Um thanks? Lol
np. so when are you lisa kara and kat going to the mall? she’s been nagging me about it.
- Just tell her to text me and we’ll figure something out lol
- alright i will. oh snap jack’s coming back i gotta go. bye!
- Bye lol

I shook my head- not understanding what Alex said at all- and finished pulling out all of my bags. After I made sure Lindsey didn’t need help with anything, I ran upstairs and cracked open all of my books. I was going to finish all of my homework today even if I had to stay up until 12; I’d do anything to be able to be with Jack.

I closed my math textbook, it was 7:30 and I was more than halfway done with everything. I decided I’d take a little break and go downstairs for a snack. As I was walking down the steps, I didn’t hear any voices. I mean, sure everyone was hung over, but they still can’t be that tired. I warily turned the corner, unsure if there was a joke being played on someone, but nothing.

I looked in the front room where Frank usually ends up- nothing. I looked in the dining room- nothing. I went back and checked the living room- nothing. I went into the den- no one in sight. Finally, I came into the kitchen where I saw Gerard, Lindsey, and Bandit all sitting at the table.

“Where is everyone?” I asked, my voice echoing off the walls.
“They went home,” Lindsey replied matter-of-factly.
“Why?”
“Tour starts at the end of next week, gotta start packing,” Gerard said, looking up from his papers.
“Oh. Tour. Forgot about that…” I trailed off, still standing in the doorway.
“Yeah. House seems so… empty, no?” Lindsey asked, raising her voice a little so the echo could be heard.
“It gives me the creeps,” I shuddered, suddenly feeling the draft I never knew we had.
“Imagine, spending the whole day like this? In silence?”
“I wouldn’t mind so much right now,” Gerard smirked, rubbing his temples.
“I would hate it. I’m not used to it at all,” I shook my head.
“Same here… So, what were you doing upstairs?”
“Oh, just trying to get my homework done. Actually, I have to talk to you guys,” I said, my face flushing.
“We have to talk to you too,” Lindsey replied. I stood up straight. Were they talking about what I was talking about?
“Well, I was thinking it could wait until tomorrow, because I want to make sure I get all of my homework done first,” I said.
“Oh, yeah that’s fine. We’ll talk tomorrow.”
“So, when he comes over-”
“Wait, what?” She cut me off. Gerard looked up, confused.
“Aren’t we talking about me and Jack?” I asked, turning tomato red.
“No!” Lindsey laughed. Gerard started laughing too. I put a hand over my face in embarrassment- I was such a ditz sometimes!

“Jack’s coming over tomorrow?” Gerard asked, after the laughter calmed down.
“Yeah… Is that okay?”
“Yeah, that’s fine. I’ll just have a little talk with him before you guys leave.”
“Um, okay. Fine with me,” I nodded, kind of nervous. Then, it hit me:
“So what were you guys talking about?”
“Oh, we’ll save it for tomorrow. It’s gunna be 8 soon, you should try to finish your homework,” Lindsey said, snapping her phone shut.
“Alright. Let me just get a drink,” I said crossing over to the fridge. After I got my water I went upstairs, finished what was left of my homework, and went to sleep. Tomorrow was going to be interesting, no doubt about that.

**************************************************************************************************

I heard someone open my door; I didn’t bother seeing who it was. It was probably Lindsey seeing if I was awake yet. But then I felt someone sit on my bed. That’s when my eyes flew open and I saw Jack, sitting there. I smiled and sat up, giving him a weak hug.

“What time is it?” I asked.
“Like 10:30.”
“You’re here so early,” I laughed.
“Well, I was shooting for 11, but there was no traffic so I got here pretty fast,” he smiled.
“This is the second time you’re the first thing I see when I wake up in this bed,” I noted as I stretched.
“Hopefully, not the last,” he said, leaving the rest of the sentence to be filled in by me.
“Let me wake up and then I’ll come downstairs,” I said, taking off my covers and shivering.
“Damn, what are these covers made out of?” Jack asked, still sitting on the foot of my bed.
“I don’t know. Why?”
“I can literally feel the warmness of them,” he said, petting my covers.
“You are so weird. Get out,” I laughed, pulling him up and pushing him towards the door.
“Okay, okay, I’m going.” He said, walking towards the steps. I was surprised he didn’t lay down and cuddle with me like he did last time. But maybe Gerard had given him a look or something and he decided to be on his best behavior. I shook my head as I changed into my outfit, which consisted of a tight, black, long-sleeved shirt, dark skinny jeans, and my pair of knock off Uggs. Why pay for real ones when the fake ones look just as nice?

After I brushed my teeth and hair I went downstairs to see Jack talking with Lindsey and Gerard, they looked comfortable enough. I smiled and sat down on the opposite side of the counter, where Lindsey passed me a plate of chocolate chip pancakes and bacon. I smiled and dug in. Jack got some too and before you knew it, we were all having breakfast together. It felt good to have another person in the house. Four was just too small of a number. Not that five was much bigger, but still. At least it was another person. When we finished, I stood up and began walking towards the steps.

“I’m just gunna go get my bag and hoodie. I’ll be right down,” I called.

***************************************************************************************************

Gerard’s P.O.V.

“Jack, can I talk to you for a second?” He nodded and followed me and Lindsey into the front room.
“Listen,” I began, “I wanna make this short. This is Julie’s second time having a boyfriend. The first one treated her like shit. So, if I were you, I’d be really careful as to whether or not you want a relationship because as far as I’m concerned, this is serious to her. She came to both of us crying because she was so torn about going out with you. I know you’re a good guy, but remember, if anything happens to her- it’s on your watch.”

“You’ve got it,” he nodded.
“Thanks. Shake on it?” I extended my hand to him and he shook it. Jules ran down the steps, a big smile on her face. The fatherly part was done. I ran a hand through my hair and began walking back towards the kitchen with Lindsey.

I knew she’d be okay, but Lindsey and I were still her guardians, and we still love her like she were our own kid. We only want her to be happy. Maybe if today goes well, our discussion about tour would go good. I really hope it will, I don’t know what we’ll do if she doesn’t like the game plan…

***************************************************************************************************

Juliet’s P.O.V.

I walked down to see Gerard and Jack shaking hands. Guess he talked to him. All of my fears were relieved, however, when I saw Jack smiling.

“We’ll be back!” I called out before closing the door.
“Okay!”
“Have fun!” They called back. With that, I shut the door and we walked over to the creeper van.

“So, where are we going?” I asked as I strapped in.
“Well, I was going to ask you,” he laughed.
“I kind of just feel like driving around. Maybe we’ll find something to do as we go.”
“Sounds good to me,” he smiled. He backed out of the driveway and off we went. He turned on the radio to the same rock station we always do, a band I had never heard of came on and started playing. They weren’t bad. Jack and I were bobbing our heads, oblivious to everything but each other and the road.

We made jokes about people we saw on the street, and somehow we got onto the highway again and made it into the next town. This was where we saw an empty playground. As if reading my mind, Jack pulled over and put the car in park. I jumped out and immediately ran for the swings. Jack followed behind me. Before we knew it we were both swinging higher than we were supposed to, I wanted to close my eyes, but I was too scared of the drop I felt when I tried. Eventually, we slowed down and our legs were all sore.

“Let’s go sit down,” I said, standing up.
“We were just sitting,” he laughed.
“No I mean like on a normal bench or something.” We looked around and there were no benches, just a lot of trees scattered across the open field. It would be the perfect place to play manhunt or hide-and-go-seek.
“I guess a tree will have to do,” Jack said, walking over and sitting under the nearest tree. There was a slight breeze, but the sun was halfway out, so it wasn’t too cold; just nippy. I plopped down next to him and put my head on his shoulder. He took my hand and together we sat there, just like that. No speaking, just sitting. Suddenly, we both turned to look at each other and slowly, our lips met. Me still being inexperienced, let him lead. The feeling was amazing. He brought his hand up around my neck and I turned in closer. When we stopped, our faces were flushed with heat.

“I feel so exposed,” I giggled, staring out at the open park. Though no one was there, I couldn’t help but feel like someone was watching us.
“I know the feeling,” Jack said. I immediately burst out into laughter, thinking about yesterday. This town was so empty for one that had such a big park. There was a runner on the opposite side of the park, but that was it. I guess it was still too cold for little kids to come outside. I was thankful, I don’t know what I’d do if I knew little kids saw that. Not that it was like, bad or anything, but still. I don’t think it would have been right to do that in front of people.

“I know what I want to do!” I exclaimed, sitting up.
“What?” Jack asked, a smile on his face.
“I wanna go bowling.” Jack burst out in laughter.
“Shut up you perv! I’m serious,” I laughed.
“Okay, okay. Let’s go,” he said, standing up. He helped me stand up and we walked back to the car, hand in hand.

We were back on the highway, going back to Bellville- where I actually knew where a bowling alley was. We pulled into the lot and walked in, hand in hand. The place was pretty empty in terms of bowling alleys. No one but regulars and few kids parties were going on.

“Lane for two please,” Jack said when we got to the main desk.
“What size shoe?” asked the lady.
“11.”
“10.” The lady got our shoes and passed them to us.
“Lane 24.”
“Thanks!” I replied, searching for our lane. It was right in front of the “food court” if I should make it sound so grand. It was just a little counter with some fryers, refrigerators, and pizza ovens in the back.

“I’ve never been here before,” I told Jack as I laced up my shoes.
“Really?”
“Yeah. I haven’t bowled since I moved.”
“Oh, okay.”
“I’m not gunna be good,” I warned him as I typed in our names.
“Don’t worry, I’ll go easy on ya,” Jack grinned. “You first.”
“Okay…” I trailed off, searching through the bowling balls until I found one that didn’t weigh a ton.

I actually used to be on a league when I was really, really little. I came in first place twice. I lined up my feet like I used to, and remembered to use my other hand to hold my wrist in place. I took my approach, swung my arm and let go.

Boom

The ball landed loudly on the lane as it sped toward the pins. It hit dead center but three pins were left over.

“What the hell? Who said you weren’t good? That was, like, freaking amazing!” Jack said, giving me a high-five as I came back to wait for my ball.
“I used to be on a league when I was little. I didn’t know I still had it in me,” I shrugged.
“It is on,” Jack said, pressing his forehead to mine. I laughed and finished my turn with a spare. It was Jack’s turn. He didn’t plan out his moves as much as I did but in the end he only had one pin left over.
“Woohoo!” I cheered as he came back to wait.

By the time we had finished, I had 109 and Jack had 108. To say he was upset was an understatement. I, of course, did not hesitate to torment him.

“Wait until I tell Alex,” I giggled.
“Don’t you dare!”
“Yes!” I laughed, pulling out my phone. He snatched it from me and held it over my head. I reached it with ease.
“Fuck!” He screamed as I ran around the car and began calling Alex. We were still in the bowling alley parking lot and the employees on their smoking break were peeing their pants.

“Hello?” I heard Alex answer.
“ALEX! I BEAT JACK!”
“In what?” he laughed.
“BOWLING!” I screamed as Jack came out from behind another car and tried to tackle me.
“Holy shit! What did he get?”
“A 108!”
“And you?”
“109 HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!” I yelled.
“This is great, oh geez,” he started laughing.
“AREN’T YOU GOING TO TELL RIAN AND ZACK?” I asked as I made a sharp turn between two cars. I heard Jack fall behind me and I turned around to see him dusting himself off and standing back up. By now everyone was laughing. I turned and kept running, putting the phone on speaker.

“Hey guys!” The parking lot rang with Alex’s voice.
“What?” everyone called back.
“Julie beat Jack in bowling!”
“OHHHHH!!!!” They all yelled, roaring with laughter.
“Jack, you should be ashamed of yourself,” Rian said.
“I can’t believe it,” Zack laughed.

“OKAY! OKAY! SHE BEAT ME. WE’RE DONE!” Jack said reaching for the phone. I jumped just as he went to grab for it and held it over my head. Every time he jumped, I did too. The employees were probably late getting back to work but they didn’t care, this was probably the most entertaining thing that happened all day- correction all year.

“Okay,” I said, bringing the phone down to my height. I was out of breath completely.
“Thank you for the update,” Alex said, a smile evident in his voice.
“Any time,” I smiled.
“Oh before you go. Jack, Matt said you have to be back by 6,” he added.
“Okay,” Jack nodded.
“Who’s Matt?” I asked.
“Our manager,” Jack, Alex, Rian, and Zack said in unison.
“Oh okay. It’s only 2:30,” I said.
“Yeah, we were just letting you know… Don’t hurt each other now,” Alex said, lowering his voice to a more seductive tone. I practically fell over I was laughing so hard.
“We’ll try,” Jack winked at me. I laughed again.
“Okay we’re in the middle of the parking lot, byeeeee!” I said, ending the call.

“Wanna go back home?” Jack asked as we got back into the car.
“I would, but Gerard and Lindsey are home and it would just feel weird,” I shook my head.
“Okay, so where do you want to go?”
“I don’t know… I would say stay here but the employees are still outside…”
“You know what? Why don’t we go back to your house, and we’ll play some guitar,” He suggested.
“That sounds great,” I smiled. He returned the grin and started the car. I waved goodbye to the employees and in two seconds we were home.

“We’re back!” I called as I took off my shoes.
“Hungry?” Lindsey asked. I looked at Jack for an answer and he nodded.
“Yeah!” I said.
“Alright, give me, like, 20 minutes.”
“We’ll be in the den!” I took the lead to the den and pulled out all of the guitars.

“Have your pick,” I said, still pulling out instruments.
“I’ll play… this one,” he announced, pulling out a honey colored acoustic. My heart almost stopped.
“Hey, hey, hey. You okay?” Jack asked, crossing over to me.
“I haven’t looked at that guitar in a long time,” I whispered, reaching out for it. Jack gave it to me and I held it as if it were the most delicate thing in the world.

“This was my father’s...”
“Julie, I know this might not be the best time to ask, but, what happened to your real parents?”
“They died in a car crash in June. I was in it too… but I survived.”

With that, I broke down and told him everything. My sobs shook my body so hard, I had to sit on the floor. Jack held me in his arms, holding me practically like a baby. Listening the whole time, never interrupting. Only rocking me back and forth in the middle of all of the spread out instruments. I even told him about Tim and Tom and Jimmy and how I cut myself. Suddenly, the smell of food filled the den, and I stood up shakily. Jack stood up too, and pulled me into a hug.

“I’m gunna go wash my face,” I whispered.
“Go ahead,” he nodded, “I’ll be here.”

Lindsey’s P.O.V.

I was just about to finish putting the pizza bites into the over when I heard someone crying. At first I thought it was Bandit, so I walked over to the steps, and heard nothing. Gerard was drawing with her in the playroom, why would she cry? However, the sobs got louder as I was walking back to the kitchen, and I realized that it was Juliet crying. Again, my instinct was to run over and comfort her, but then I remembered she was with Jack.

Quietly, I tip toed to the entrance of the den and hid behind the wall right before you walk in.

“-w-we were on our way to g-get my sister. Jack, I told them I loved them so much. I told them thank you for putting up with everything. I a-asked for forgiveness a-and they ga-gave it to me! Then the light turned green a-and then- Oh my God, Jack I-I can’t!”
“Shh, I’m here, I’m here.”

I felt my own eyes begin to water as I listened to Julie cry. By now her cries were echoing off the whole first floor. Dare I peek to see what was going on? Slowly, I stuck my head out further and further until I could see the den completely. Julie’s old guitar was sitting on the floor, along with all of our other guitars and basses. The thing that made the tears fall was them.

Julie was crying and Jack was holding her in his arms, totally focused on her and what she had to say. Never as a teen had I ever had anyone who would comfort me like that except for my Mom. They were so perfect together. I just prayed that they would never break up, because the amount of trust Julie had in him was amazing and he was fulfilling his role completely. Not shying away from her problems, but meeting them head on.

I backtracked and went back into the kitchen via the living room and put the pizza bites in the oven. I didn’t know how long they were gunna be so I just sat there. Suddenly, Gerard was in the kitchen.

“What’s going on?” he asked, sounding like a father.
“She’s telling Jack about the accident, and why she’s here. If you’re quiet you can go listen, but please don’t ruin the moment.” He nodded and walked out. Two minutes later, he came back and gave me a hug. I smiled solemnly; they were acting like a better couple than we were.

“What’re you cooking?”
“Pizza bites and a few other snacks. I’ll call you guys down when they’re done cooking.”
“Okay,” he kissed my forehead and went back to Bandit.

Not long after, the oven beeped and everything was ready, I just didn’t know if Julie was. However, as if on cue, they walked in. Julie’s face was flushed and blotchy, her eyes pink from all of the tears, but Jack was there with her, and that made me feel better.

“Here’s some pizza bites- watch out they’re hot, chips, and dip. Drinks are in the fridge. I’ll be right back,” I said, walking to the steps to get Gerard and Bandit.

Juliet’s P.O.V.

I came out of the bathroom and Jack was in the den, messing around on one of the unplugged electric guitars. When he saw me he stood up and walked with me to the kitchen. Lindsey was in there. I hoped she wouldn’t realize I had been crying, but it was wishful thinking. I knew I looked a mess. Thankfully, she pretended not to notice and left to probably go get Bandit and Gerard.

“I’m sorry for dumping all of that on you,” I apologized, taking a handful of chips and putting them on my plate.
“It’s fine, I wanted to know. Plus, nothing could stop me from going out with you,” he smiled. We sat down at the counter and ate in peaceful silence, until I heard the pitter-patter of little feet.

“Auntie Julie!” Bandit shrieked.
“Hey, Bandie!” I smiled, picking her up and putting her in my lap. “Want a chip?” She nodded and I broke up one and gave it to her.
“Yummy, yummy!” she clapped. Jack joined me in laughing at her cuteness. At that moment, Gerard and Lindsey walked in and Bandit stopped to look up at Jack. She studied his face carefully, then pointed and looked at me confused.
“This is Jack,” I said.
“Dack,” she smiled.
“No, Jack,” I laughed.
“Dack!” she giggled.
“Close enough,” Gerard laughed, taking a plate and piling food on it. We all finished eating and Jack and I went back into the den to play music. I used my dad’s guitar, and Jack used my new acoustic one that I had gotten for Christmas. I hadn’t played in a while so I was a little rusty, but once we had been playing for an hour and a half, I was back into the swing of things.

It was 4:30 when Jack had to get going.

“Bye, Jack,” Gerard said, giving him one of those handshake-man-hug things.
“Bye,” Lindsey pulled him into a hug.
“Bye bye, Dack!”
“Bye bye, Bandit,” Jack laughed as he knelt down to give her a hug. Finally it was my turn.
“I’ll walk you to the car,” I nodded, opening the door for him.

As soon as I shut the front door I grabbed his hand in mine and together we walked down the path to the driveway.

“Thank you for everything,” I said, pulling him into a hug.
“Thank you,” he smiled back.
“For what?”
“For being here, and choosing me.” He pulled my face closer to his and we kissed one more time. It wasn’t as awkward for me as it was the last two times. “I’m not gunna mess this up Julie. I don’t want to.”
“What do you mean, Jack?”
“I don’t want to lose a girl like you. You understand guy stuff, and you’re pretty, and you’re funny- what more does any guy want?”
“Aw Jack, that’s so sweet,” I felt my eyes well up with tears.
“I know,” he winked. I pushed him playfully towards the car and began walking back.
“Have a good ride home! Tell Alex and everyone I say hello!”
“Okay!”
“See you!”
“Text me!”
“Not while you’re driving!”
“Obviously!”
“But, okay!”
“Bye!”
“Bye!” I blew a kiss and then walked back to the house. I was smiling to myself when I saw Gerard and Lindsey standing in the foyer. I shut the door and turned to face them.

“We need to talk.”
“Um, okay... Did I do something wrong? Do you not want Jack to come over anymore?” I thought back to all of the things I could have done wrong. “If it’s about the mess in the den I’ll clean it all up and make sure everything’s in tune-”
“It’s about tour. It starts next week.”
“Oh. Okay…”
“Why don’t we sit in the living room?” Lindsey suggested. Gerard and I nodded and Bandit followed shakily, dragging her little teddy bear with her.

“Don’t speak. Just listen for now,” Lindsey said, holding up a hand before I could speak.
“All of us are going on tour, and since you said you originally wanted to stay home, we were trying to think who would be around. Unfortunately, no one we know is going to be around to stop by every day and make sure you’re alright-”
“We also thought it was safe to assume that no one you know would be willing to take you…”
“Either way, we would like you to come with us. Not only will you get home-schooled, but you’ll get more time to be a musician and see what life on tour is like.”
“It’s not just us, MSI, and Avenged going on tour though,” Gerard added.
“Yeah, there will be a lot of other bands from all types of rock and roll genres performing.”
“You’ll be happy to know that All Time Low is one of the bands. They’ll be opening for us all across the East coast along with other bands like Fall Out Boy, Paramore, All-American Rejects, and Panic! At The Disco.”
“I think some of them might follow us over to the West coast too, but I’m not sure…”

I felt my mouth fall open. I would die of a stroke, being with all of those band members at once. But on the other hand, I thought about all of my friends and how Kat, Billie, Juliana, and Tom would feel. Tom. I had to tell Tom about Jack. It would break my heart as well as his, but it had to be done…

“We know you’ll miss your friends,” Lindsey said, catching sight of my frown.
“But we think it would be better for all of us to stay together. We’ll even reserve tickets for your friends if you want. They can come to shows and you guys can hang out while we’re still on this side of the US.”
“The whole MCR family will be there: Alicia, Jamia, Krista, and Kaitlin. Oh! And Bailey will be there too,” she added. I considered each option carefully. I remembered how much I hated the sound of the house quiet and empty. I would go insane if I stayed here. But on the other hand, I could always have people over and Kat and Billie and Juliana would be there. As for Tom, I had to have time to talk to him.

“How long will I have to say goodbye?”
“Until next Friday, by then we have to be packed and go out to upstate New York to start and get everything in order.”
“What do you say?” Gerard asked, hands clasped together tightly. Lindsey was also waiting for my decision. That's when I realized just how much I meant to them, and just how much my opinion mattered.

“I say………okay. I’ll go on tour with you guys,” I nodded.
“Yay!” Lindsey clapped. Gerard smiled and nodded. Bandit just got up and clapped, not knowing what was going on in the least.
“Well, better start packing soon!” Lindsey said picking up Bandit.
“Yeah, about that, what do you pack when you go on a tour?”
“Clothes for every occasion and a lot of money,” Gerard laughed, reaching for the remote.

And that’s where the four of us stayed for the rest of the night: curled up on the couch watching TV, perfectly content.
