i have the same opinion as you but 1am me still has the urge to demand updating.
i am also an author and I write frequently, however I don't think highly enough of my new material to post it at it's current stage.

I try to make mine more than "OMG update!!!!111" and shit. I'm an author myself, and when I ask for feedback, I mean real feedback. I don't care if you liked it, tell me a joke or criticize me. Don't command me to update, because we all know I will when I'm good and fucking ready, damnit.
