I have a theory on the break up-
most of this is hearsay and has been spread from one Frerard shipper to the next, claiming its 'facts' because they want to believe it
the 'fight' between Frank and Gerard is literally just them messing around on stage, nothing more
Gerard didn't marry Lynz 'within days' - they met in 2002 and ever since then Gerard's been in love with her; at the time they were both in relationships though and that's why they didn't get together until 2007 when they were both single
Frank was not 'unofficially married' because he was married. Full stop.
And most importantly, and I really don't know why all you people with your 'Frerard theories' never consider this: both Gerard and Frank literally do not give a shit about anything. If they were gay, they'd be openly gay. Why do you think they would keep it a secret? Both of them have been advocating for gay rights. If they had been in love, they would have been together. They wouldn't have 'covered up' their love by marrying and having children with women. 80% of the MCR fanbase 'ships' them anyway so do you really think they would have been afraid to come out if they were in fact gay? Sorry but that's stupid.
And to even imply that they only got married and started families as a cover-up or as 'distraction' is really fucking insulting to not only them but also their wives and children.
Guys it's just a theory, you don't have to freaking hate on it.
Gerard wasn't in love with Lynz since 2002, it was a little celebrity crush.
I'm going to try and not go on a rant here, so I think I'll stop here
But basically, her theory DOES make sense and you guys have NO IDEA what was going on in Gerard and Franks head at that time. They may have totally different feelings so this theory could be correct.
also, if you guys don't like Frank and Gee together, obviously you aren't going to even suggest the theory!

A pretty long long time ago I found an article that stated Frank had feelings for Gerard.

i think people are gonna believe what they want to believe anyway, and theyll always find a way to make their theories work if they want them to work. fact is that there are no facts proving that frerard was ever real. fact is that both men are married with children and madly in love with the women theyre with. i will back up @meow_poison since i agree with everything they said (even though i disagree with how it was said, i think they just got a lil worked up) - gerard and lynz met in 2002 (and toured together in 2003) and gerard wanted to pursue a relationship right away. it wasnt like they met in 2007 and got married "just like that" - hes been in love with her for 5 years. long before "frerard". and his crush on lynz certainly wasnt just a "celebrity crush", they stayed in touch over the years, then reconnected at project rev. gerard even talked about it in several interviews. and i know a girl who knows them both better (shes good friends with lynz and has met them both several times) and she confirmed that. not gonna repeat everything she told me since its private and not my place and also i dont have to prove anything to anyone, just confirming what meow said. and thats not a theory but a fact. i personally think frerard was fun as a crackship but nothing more. its hot but its fictional. and fiction and reality should be kept apart. if there was an article stating that frank had "feelings" for gerard it would have gotten way more attention. ive been a mcr fan for almost 10 years and never heard of such an article so either it doesnt exist or it has been misinterpreted. when project rev happened and there were rumours about gerard and lynz, all of a sudden there were also rumours saying that gerard and frank had smth going on, in order to make gerard and lynz' relationship look fake. pretty much because at first 90% of the fanbase were jealous of lynz and hated on her. so rather than accept the fact that gerard got married, fans started saying that it was just a way to cover up "what happened with frank". although nothing ever did happen.
there are plenty of band dudes out there who make out on stage or fight on stage. its a rocknroll thing. only their fans see it for what it is, a spur of the moment adrenaline thing and dont try to turn it into something else.
and i also agree that its disrespectful to their wives and kids. and also to suggest that they would have fake relationships with women instead of coming out is ridiculous, sorry. if they were so afraid of "owning their true feelings" for each other they wouldnt make out on stage for everyone to see just to then go and deny it again by marrying women. it makes no sense.

No okay my theory on the break up (among many of the things Gerard has said) was that when Mikey's drug problem started getting really bad Gerard realized that a lot of it was being caused by the pressure of the band so he broke mcr up to protect Mikey.
I'm not saying this was the sole thing that broke up the band but I think it's like something we're not being told
I was just about to say, it was because of Mikey's drug and alcohol issues. That was 'the sign'. Mikey nearly died.

but guys, can't we all just accept everything and move on? i'm not trying to sound rude or anything, i love frerard and i love mcr, but i also love their solo work. like i mentioned, that frerard post that addictwithapen linked us to is fantastic and i enjoy reading them, as i enjoyed reading this original theories post. but please don't get mad about it. don't force it upon the guys to get back together, and please, for the love of everything you may or may not believe in, please do not talk to frank and gerard about frerard. or mikey, or ray, or their wives. i'm sure you all wouldn't, i just feel i need to say it, as i've seen some pretty rude things on twitter before. thank you :)

exactly. like, i've seen people get angry and bitter about the breakup, and take it out on them, and i feel like we just need to avoid that and support them, y'know?? because they're doing what they love, and they're happy, so that's great, and it makes everyone else happy. not that you guys aren't supporting them, just yeah :))

Im 8 months late owell but ive seen pictures of gerard at franks wedding so idk djjcjxkdjdnd i do believe in frerard tho
okay so imo, that fight wasn't even a fight, like gerard although not violent is quite... defensive? so i think frank hugged him and Gerard panicked and didn't know what was happening and shook him off from instinct yanno? also frerard isn't actually real and i think we should believe what they said about it tbh
I've been looking at all the facts for a long time and I found one that really tied things together for me, but it's just a theory.
I REPEAT - THIS IS A THEORY NONE OF THIS WHATSOEVER IS COMPLETE FACT
I found a video the other day, the Frerard fight. [ Video ] I don't know if many of you have heard or seen this, but Frank goes in either to tackle Gerard or hug him and Gerard takes him and throws him into the ground, Frank falls and just goes on with the show.
What astonishes me so much about this happening is that Gerard is completely against violence and usually messes around with Frank practically every other show. Now, I have noticed that Frank was 'unofficially married' during this pro. Rev. Stuff. He had been married in the dark in early 2007, yet the most vivid Frerard activity was during this time.
Also, apparently, Gerard got married to Lyn-z within days and before the show with this fight, Ray found Frank crying backstage after he heard the news that Gerard was getting married. [Frank - Gerard's 'best friend' was also ansent from his wedding] Now, in this show Gerard seems tired and beat and angry. Frank was trying to play around with him as he always does and Gerard pushes him off him, throwing them into the ground. What I think this is from us frustration and/or the fact that Gerard was getting married and now wanted to stay loyal to Lyn-z. But if this is the case, then why was it okay for Gerard to be all over Frank when he was married?
After this time period in the band's history, they also take a break from touring. In this time, Frank releases an album in Leathermouth. Now, if you listen to these lyrics they are really hitting depression, hurt, anger, all of these emotions while he also has lines of 'our love never dies'. I don't know if this is all connected to Frerard, but I believe it is.
Also, after this there is hardly anything that could be called 'Frerard.' Anymore. Slight won him between the two, but really nothing on stage. Also, Gerard has claimed that he stopped the band because he got back into alcohol.
Summing this all up - I think that when this fight happened, the two of them could never properly work together because (if what I'm guessing about the marriage and everything is right) they still loved each other, but wanted to stay loyal to their to their wives. I think after a while of putting up with the pain, Gerard got back into alcohol because that's how he felt dealt with it best. After realizing what he had done, he couldn't take it anymore. He split the band because he didn't want to go back to being an alcoholic but the only way he could deal with the pain would to be ignoring it by subtracting Frank from his everyday life. They still don't talk much to this day. And I feel like the only time Gerard and Frank seem happy is when they're distracting themselves with their music or art or children.
But it I don't know. Again, it's just what I've thought.
