“Well Students!” My English teacher announced “That concludes your morning of Grade Ten, time for Lunch!” Just on time the bell rings and everyone scrambles into the congested hallways. I was about to walk into the bathroom and eat but then I remembered to eat with Ray. I rushed into the food court and just stood on the side lines waiting. So far school had been decent. I made one friend named Ray he is pretty cool. My English teacher is a bag but hey.
Being so lost in thought I didn’t realize Ray walking towards me, “Yo Rose?” he laughed waving his hands in front of my face “Anyone there?” I giggled back “Sorry!” He walked towards a table beckoning me to follow. He stopped in front of a blue table with green chairs almost all the chairs were almost filled with boys.
“This is Gerard” Frank pointed at a medium height boy with red hair. “This is Frank” he said pointing to a fairly short boy with black hair. “This is Mikey!” he smiled pointing at a cute blond haired boy. “Gerard and Mikey are brothers!” “Do you want to sit with us?” asked Mikey. “Sure why not?” I blushed. My phone buzzed, I pulled it out of my pocket it was a text from my mom. I replied right away.
I sat down and fidgeted with my iPhone in my hands. I looked over and noticed Mikey was staring at me; or my iPhone. “Can I see your iPhone case for a second?” Mikey smiled. “Uh, sure…” I replied unsure. “I love your case so much!!!” He giggled. “Thanks I replied.” It’s just a unicorn case… “Yeah, Mikey loves unicorns a lot.” Gerard said embarrassed “It’s like his thing.”
“Unicorns aren’t real you know…” Frank laughed Mikey just shot him this angry look. “So, where do you come from Rose?” Mikey asked blushing. “I’m from Lincon, Nebraska actually!” I laughed nervously. “Lincon?” Gerard scoffed “What brings you here?” “Well uh, my parents got divorced so my mom decided to move I guess.” I frowned. Awkward silence filled the room. “Well, that sucks…” Frank put in sympathetically.
The bell rang and it was time for me to hurry to Science class. “I got to fly guys! Here’s my number” I smiled scribbling it down on a piece of napkin. I walked away into the science wing and sat down, seconds later Mikey appeared at the door. “Hey Mikey” said giving him a flirty smile “I didn’t know you took Science with me!” “I do!” he smiled at me. I found myself wondering Shit! Do I like Mikey?!?
Before I knew it, it was the end of my first day at Belleville High School! And It was pretty great If I do say so myself. I stood outside of the school building when I was approached by Beth, but instead of the happy bubbly Beth I got the cold shoulder. Whoa bitch alert I thought. I don’t know what her deal was but she passed by me flanked by two girls and shot me this look. She sounded like a total mean girl. And I never did anything wrong.
About fifteen minutes later my mom strolled into the parking lot and blared her car horn at me. I walked to the car and was greeted with a hug and Tim Horton’s. “How’s my Belleville High School girl? Make any friends? Cute boys?” So naturally I told her all about my day. My mom decided to take me out shopping, so buy the time I got home I was so tired.
I checked my phone one last time before I went to bed, and too my surprise it was a text from Mikey. Just a basic text like: ‘hey it’s me Mikey! Was there any Science homework?’ I through myself on my plush leopard bed spread and rested my head on the suede pillows. And as I sat there relaxing I drifted off thinking of Mikey Way.
