1807 - December 12th

Gerard was overjoyed to hear his sister-in-law had her baby, he'd gone late in the evening when Kristen was still up so he could see baby Rowan. But he'd barely be able to know his niece before Mikey begged him to hide her "she is beautiful, Mikey" the vampire smiled at his human brother as he held his human niece in his arms "yeah, looks like Kristen, but has my eyes" Mikey laughed, then frowned "Mikey, what's wrong?" Gerard looked concerned "it's the others in the village, Gee. They still think you're some monster who will hurt someone, never mind what I tell them" he sighed.

Gerard knew once the word got out that the richest man in Belleville's son was a vampire, things would never be the same for the Way family again "look, something were to happen to either Kristen or me, I want you to hide Rowan somewhere safe alright. I don't know or care where you hide her, just so long she is safe" Gerard nodded "I promise" he gave Mikey his daughter back before kissing Rowan's head gently and changing his form into a bat, then left his family behind.

Only four days later, when he was gliding in his bat form over the village, Gerard saw Mikey running into the forest with Rowan in his arms "Mikey...""Gee, take her. I need you to hide her" Mikey breathlessly panted, giving Gerard his niece "what happened?" "They killed her, they killed Kristen after they murdered our parents, Gee. They will come for me. They can not find Rowan" Mikey begged "hide yourself as well, brother" Gerard said, knowing there was a family who would take care of Rowan in Chicago, Illinois.

He hid Rowan in Chicago, then went back to Belleville only to see one of his supposed friends in the Carlisle family murder Mikey in cold blood "MIKEY!" The villagers were shocked to see Gerard holding his brother's dying form as the blood ran out of him, they assumed he would drain his own brother "...Rowan...Gee..is-is...she" Mikey choked "she's safe, baby brother" Gerard's hazel eyes were filled with tears that were now falling down his face in heartbreak.

Mikey smiled and sighed in relief as he died in his older brother's arms, Wilhelmina Iero was heartbroken for Gerard. She'd looked after both brothers from their infant days and their son, Franklin, had been a close friend of theirs before the villagers killed him for being close to Gerard "you will PAY for this!" Gerard snarled at the shell-shocked villagers.

This is only the prologue for Gerard. How he became a Vampire and more into what happened with Rowan will come as he meets and begins to fall for his best friend's descendant.
